Have been somewhat slow to react to this post. Thanks OP! I had heard of it but now I truly understand the mechanic. 1 q though: maybe it's only my feeling but why does a citadel seem to hurt much more on German BB if it gets overmatched??

 

they should not be effected by t/d tooo much. A bigger problem should be the ballistic arc. The slopes on most warships were 40-60o so a small increase in the ballistic arc, will make little difference,

 

However KM slopes are mostly 22-25o, so even a small change in ballistic arc can reduce this slopes effect sharply. IF the shell is hitting the slopes at a few degrees then the slopes should increase protection sharply, so  resistance increases as you close with the enemy, but @ medium ranges the shell can hit at 15-20o changing the slopes to 37-45o. That's going to offer much less protection.
