I think every player starts struggling a bit at tier V. This is not because you are a bad player, but you meet more experienced players (as progress slows a bit down), ships that are quite tough and have more distinct roles. All this means that you have to focus slightly more on both the mechanics of the game and how to avoid taking damage as well as being able to dash out more damage... and also be better to read the map and learn when to engage and when to pull away.

I would suggest trying the JPN Cruiser line if you want to move up the cruiser tiers, as they are all around good ships and will give you the base knowledge you need for that ship type. The USN Cruisers aren't bad really... but they are not as forgiving as the JPN line imo. I got the Cleveland and will keep that one whilst going up the JPN and USSR cruiser lines myself. The German cruiser line is a pain in the *** at tier 5 and 6 at least. My most hated ships for sure... the only one I hate more being the Katori.

I think the reason why I really don't get on with the Omaha is that I can't see any strong points, when a gunboat dd is a bit of a fight and angling only stops citadels as opposed to pens.

Showing only bow stops DD APs from penetrating.

But 152mm and anything bigger overmatches 10mm plating of bow.

So Omaha should avoid being the first target for anything with bigger guns.

And with lots of BBs around currently keeping that distance is even more important.

Because of lots of BBs and less cruisers it would be actually good time to play destroyers now and then in week or two with decreasing number of BBs again play more cruisers.

About tier v and VI german cruisers... they have poor armor (as generaly all german cruisers) but they have very presice guns and the angling is probaly the best of all ships ingame. This means that you can use all your guns in a 80 degrees angle so you want to face the enemy ship mostly in a straith line, either from the bow or from behind. The worst thing you can do is to show broadside where you can easly get one shoted. Also know your ships spoting range and gun range. In Nurnberg I belive the gun  range is around 16km and spotting range of the ship is 12.5km. Depending on your playstyle you can fire guns from max range at 16km or you can actually sneak up to 13km, postion you self in a 80 degrees angle moving backwords and then unlishing a deadly salvo and keep fighting while only showing the bow or the back of the ship.

German cruisers are not very forgiving, but in a hand of experianced player they really shine... as every ship in the game :-) Its ll about practice, postitioning and situational awarenes.

PS: the guns on those 2 ships ae also positioned 2 in front 1 behind on tier 5 I belive and 1 in front and 2 behind on tier 6 which takes time to get use to. Sorry for my poor english. :-)

No - both German CL's (tier 5 and 6), have 2 x 3 guns aft and 1 x 3 guns forward.

OP, IMP you're making the same mistake I made: rushing throught the tiers too fast. My advice: it's NOT getting easier on higher tiers. T5 is an awesome tier to play in. I advice you to take a "break" here and grind all ships at a slow pace. Not to mock you: your stats blow mine away. Respect for that. I only try to help you enjoy this game to the fullest. I wish I had taken that advice when I was at your level...
