Return Premium Ships ?

So, i sadly made the mistake to buy the Scharnhorst, wich turned out to be the most underpowered piece of junk ship that ever made it into the game. It is supposed to hunt cruisers, but every cruiser so far utterly raped it without me even being able to pen the enemy properly. The guns are weak and inaccurate, they do laughable damage and the ship burns like a stack of matches. Its even hopeless against Tier 5 BB as you cannot pen them but they shoot through you like butter. Every CA laughs at the 2k dmg per salvo he gets while in the same time he rapes you for 10k dmg. Im getting wet eyes if i see a Scharnhorst in my Kirov as its easy 60k dmg done without having to fear to take any serious damage in return. 

 

So my question is, is there a way to give it back and buy an actual useful ship instead or am i stuck with this piece of crap now ?

Play her like the CA/BB hybrid she is  By the way, I think her guns are quite accurate (34% MBH) but that's probably because I played the Tirpitz a lot.

You are stuck with that piece of crap until you learn how to play the game. Then as if by magic, it turns into a cracking ship.

2. Your average damage in it is about the same as your other tier 7 ships.

 

 

If you are only getting 2k salvoes then you are doing it wrong.  I expect you are leading targets by the sae as your other BBs when actually you need a much shorter lead with the Scharnhorst as her shell arc/speed mean your shells get to the target much faster.

Im not a potato player (thou not a stetsped DD player either), i know how to play ships. But when a Cleveland sails full broadside to you not even 8km away, you shoot and out of 9 shells you lad 3 pens, 2 overpens and 2 bounces and in the progress you do around 3600 dmg while the Cleveland lads 4k dmg and two fires with every salvo you ask yourself what you are doing there .. Needless to say i lost to the Cleveland becasue he turned away slightly and i was unable to deal any  significant damage to him since everything was bounceing or doing pathetic dmg. He just kept spamming me with HE and in the end he killed me from full HP and i dealt 12k dmg to him.

Just a word of advice: the guns are closer to CA guns than BB guns, so use them like that.

You could write a ticket to WG explaining your situtation, But I doubt that'll do anything since ship being UP won't be a valid excuse.

Guess what, i watched those, thats why i bought this ship. But as from all WG financed youtube reviewers they select the best lucky games and show those only. The majority of the games where the Scharnhorst gets utterly destroyed by everything doesnt make it into the videos, would be bad marketing .. Just not came from a game where a Königsberg completely destroyed me becasue the guns where unable to pen him. 51 hits on Königsberg, 27k dmg done .. Out of 51 hits i got 11 bounces and 3 non-penetrations.

Feels good. Bounced an epic amount of shells off her armour.

If you struggle that hard with T5 cruiser, it's not the Scharnhorst's fault. Maybe, MAYBE, if you had the worst RNG in 100 years you'd lose to a tier 5 cruiser, but only thing that I can think of is that Königsberg outplayed and outwitted you from a range of 15-16km, evading most of your shots while you just kept shooting at her. It's pretty easy to avoid or even bounce most BB shells from that range.

Was in a T9 game with Iowa yesterday evening. Had 2 Scharnhorsts in it (1 in my team, 1 enemy). Both got Arsonist and Witherer.

Maybe reconsider your choice of ammunition?

I would like to post you a "L2P" but to give you a more specific answer:

 

The ship has a decent armour which is capable of bouncing even Nagato, Amagi, Iowa shells. This leads to a point where you can survive longer than the other bbs. about burning: Yeah Scharnhorst burns like any other bb. So use the flag against it and try to dodge some salvos. Never repair on one fire, while they keep shooting at you.

Regarding the aim: I think you need to adapt the shells and aim: I for mine had to practice a bit until I hit my salvos.

 

My stats with her from yesterday:
