German BB OP?

Disclaimer:

The German BB have just arrived and (long term) statistics might prove me wrong.

 

Looking at German BB stats (for BB up to tier 8) on wows servers I see them seemingly performing as well or better than BB which are 2 or even 3 tiers above them.

 

Example.

 

- Nassau: Tier 3 BB, with already a decent amount of battles (not just 2k) -> deals more dmg than tier 4-5 BB and performs much better, add the fact this is the starting ship of the line so it has not been free xped by veteran players so much and plenty of more 'average' players are driving it.

 

Nassau is currently performing as well or better than Kongo which is an excellent tier 5 BB.

I do not mind as I drive only DD these days (to counter 5 Nassau or 5 Bayern per team for example) but I find that surprising given the Nassau is a regular line ship and not something unique like the Flint.

 

 

For the other German BB the number of battles is still quite low but there is the same trend showing:

German BB = same or better performance than IJN/USN BB which are 2 or even 3 tier above it.

 

Now is it a temporary trend (and only on the Russian and US servers) because most 'good players' decided to grind it while most 'tomatoes' have decided not to try the new line  or is it a long term trend and time will just show the German line is OP?

the only reason why it has better performance it's becasue either people are Very good or just really Fluffing Bad players are playing against them

Nassau has only ever been in battles with 7 Nassau's on both sides, so the HP pool is huge compared to your average tier 3 battle. Larger overall HP pool in the battles = more damage possible. I would expect the average damage for all t3 ships to rise until most people are done grinding the low tier german BBs.

Most of the higher tier german BBs have mostly been played by experienced testers and some veteran players who decided to free XP them. Yes, there's also wallet warriors, but it's still in no way a good representation of how average players will perform in them.

Maybe these stats have something to do with so many BBs per side on every match. Larger targets with more HP are better for BBs. But I personally feel that Nassau is the best of the three T3 battleships out there (or now I know how to handle them, Kawachi and South Carolina still haunt my dreams)

Nassau is fighting mostly other BBs.

Therefore her damage is quite high.

Better wait for server statistics.

The reason why damage might be "higher" is because there's a bazillion BBs to shoot at = higher HP pool in total to shoot at. Wait for things to cool down, let's check the stats in a few weeks and put them into perspective. Right now the Nassau seems to be strong, the rest of the line seems very balanced far far from being OP imho.

I wouldn't jump the gun here. As the others say it is easy to dish out 60/70k in a T3 slugfest with 13 other Nassaus. I had a T4 match today and the damage was a lot lower as I was constantly trying to catch up with the (more fluid) battle. Let's wait for some numbers after a couple of month to see if they are indeed better.

 

Personally I think South Carolina is equally strong and Kawachi could need a little buff on firing accuracy.

As has been pointed out by everyone (apparently it wasn't blindingly obvious) the HP pools per team are massively inflated currently but this will die down over the next week or so.

 

I'm only at tier 3 still but from the various videos I have watched I think maybe the tier 6 & 8 ships will be strong... but then they are both strong tiers for BBs anyway so they will perhaps fit right in.

German BBs might be called OP for quite some time due to a relatively "major" change in playstyle that also effects the other BB lines.

They are simply awesome brawlers on pretty much all tiers due to their design being based on the far more narrow Atlantic and North-Sea, something neither the Japanese BBs nor the US-BBs are as much.

Nevertheless both Japanese and US-BBs were able to brawl rather good so far due to both sides being not really in favor in this terrain (Best example might be Fuso vs NewMexico here, while the NM is called the brawler of both, the Fuso stands still good chances even close up.).

This changed now and it is a real difference what enemies you are facing now.

 

As soon as people learn to stay outside of the secondary range (not saying that the secondaries are OP or something along those lines, just that this is the playing ground of German BBs for several reaons) and more cruiser driver learn to deal with the rather good Anti-Cruiser capabilities of the German BB line, things will change rather drastically against German BBs.

 

On the other hand I think battles might become more dynamic now with a BB line that is actually able to push and is far more attack oriented unlike the other BB lines.

I don think the German bb`s are op, i have played the Nassau bb but dont think it is better then a Kawachi or South Carolina. The accuracy on the Nassau is pretty bad, armor is average and manoevrability is good, looks a little like the kawachi. Like others already said it has to do something with 10 Nassau`s on each side. The Kaiser  tier 4 feels like a Kongo but i also dont think it is OP, an enemie Kongo probably blows the Kaiser out of the water.

No there is only a thread which was openend beforehand and is of ironic nature.

The perception of the german BBs in the german section is mainly good. But  it has only been 1 day.

This will be a major factor in average damage stats at low tier. At least initially. Key stat is win rate after a couple of months...

I've taken couple of torps in with my Nassau/Kaiser, but way often it's the DD that suffers under that great RoF those german battleships have. So I'm having way more fun hunting down destroyers with my quality german BBs than other way around

They're not OP, it's just that the other BBs at that tier (aside from the STRONK Russian of course) are all mediocre or downright bad. Germans seem comfy as hell in comparison.
