Estuary, worst map EU?

My heart sinks to the depths of the Mariana Trench when I see this map. 20 minutes of camp island and torpedo spam. The thousands of islands that litter this map make it almost impossible to move anywhere without having to wade through torpedo soup. The vast majority of players on both sides seem to not even leave the spawn areas, they just congregate in the channels and wait for the poor sods that try and move forward. Epic BB sniping duels between the islands as well. 

 

Maybe it is fun for most DD and cruiser captains, but for somebody that likes to use his 'W' key in a BB it is just awful.

Strait without a doubt. No map gave me more grief. Hoping the mm changes might make this a more fun map but when t3 and t4s where facing t5s with nowhere to hide from those long range kongos and konigsbergs it got pretty brutal.

Strait without a doubt. No map gave me more grief. Hoping the mm changes might make this a more fun map but when t3 and t4s where facing t5s with nowhere to hide from those long range kongos and konigsbergs it got pretty brutal. 

 

Agree.

Especially in tier 7 matches. This map is unsufferable when you're matched with Nagato...

Best map EU cuz people are forced to fight within a proper range instead of sniping, I hope WG promotes more maps like this :great:

Estuary is one of my favorite maps actually, regardless of ship. Out of the other new-ish maps I also really fell in love with Trident.

Two Brothers remains the worst actual map. Ocean isn't even a map, it's what happens when the game tries to load a regular map and fails.

Two Brothers remains the worst actual map. Ocean isn't even a map, it's what happens when the game tries to load a regular map and fails. 

 

I also really like Neighbour... if only players in BBs stopped to go to the A cap in the south and end in the corner of the map while the team is dying on the North side, it would be even better.

Land of Fire all the Way... its well.. Ye... Don't Like it...

 

Trident is only in Standard Battle Exhausting...

 

But Rest i like... Two Brothers is only kinda overplayed ^^

Same. It is very good for all classes.

 

What I dislike is C cap on Trap map. The worst place on earth in WoWs.

I really hate the copy/paste maps recently added to high tiers. They're all 3 caps located at the same line in the middle, surrounded by islands, with open sea in both North and South. The only difference is the disposition of the islands in the centre. Names like Loop, Warrior's Path or Shatter make me wanna puke

Estuary? Best map ever :) Trident is nice as well.

Land of Fire is my least favourite. I just cannot find the right spots or courses to make my ships work there.

Mixed feelings about Esuary. Mainly because I havent found a way to play good on it. The worst map by far is Shitter (Or shatter as someone calls it)

I actually like Two Brothers. I miss the first version of it tho :-/

I like Trident and Estuary, though Estuary is annoying, it makes for different gameplay. I agree with this ^^ though. Lately too many maps are too similar, and not even varied very much in terms of individual island size.

 

My most hated map is Neighbours though, simply because of those unrealistic round islands. Aesthetics are important!

I hate Shatters, and dislike Loop and Warrior Path. However I really like Sea of Fortune.

 

Actually, thinking about it, the map I hate the most would probably be Tears of the Desert, followed by Land of Fire.

 

Two Brothers is kinda repetitive, but I like it. And Estuary is a really good map full of opportunities.

Can't say I have noticed any sort of active gameplay on it.

 

Around the A cap each side seems to hug their three islands. The areas around B and C cap are death traps as there is almost certainly a DD or cruiser sitting up against one of the islands, waiting. D cap is too ''exposed'' so few ships like to go there. Maybe the odd long-range BB duel, otherwise the BBs just sit in/behind their respective spawn areas and try and shoot ships through the islands. With all of these potential ambushes nobody wants to move for a massive portion of the game. It is so static in my experience.

 

I'm not much of a cruiser player and I can't play DDs, so yes, maybe for those captains the shorter range is fun because it greatly increases the chances of someone being funneled in to an ambush but to me it comes up short in the action stakes.

A focused team on the other hand can focus fire any enemy that pops up. The more dispersed the enemy is, the easier it gets.

I assume you play BBs then? If so, you can do massively well in Estuary as the closer ranges remove some of the RNG from salvos you get to unleash. There's great chances to do good damage when most of the targets aren't far away, but around 10km or even closer. Just do not let those pesky torps to get you.

That's the thing though. From what I have experienced, a lot of players don't want to move because the map is so conducive to camping/ambushing/passivity. They either want to be the ones ambushing or they don't want to be the one that stumbles in to torpedoes while trapped in a channel.

 

I was begging my team for help in my Colorado while trying to push D because I was being stalked by a DD, weaving between the islands and stretching my WASD hacking to the max. It took 8 minutes of pleading and being hit/avoiding torps before the two cruisers nearest me finally left the cover of the islands to the east of our spawn (north) and then they only moved because an enemy Nagato had slipped in to the channel between C and D cap and they tried to get their torps off.

​Strait would be nice if they made it a bit bigger, but as it is now, my heart sinks every time it comes up. I think its because nobody really knows the best way to play it, and that's because I think you have to change the way you play it everytime you get it, depending on the team you get and what you are facing. People simply cannot adapt their game play to make it work.

you could add islands of ice to this list.. after the change it is similar to other maps...
