fgibert Players 104 posts 5,477 battles Report post #30 Posted August 16, 2016 My AA-Haguro (upgrade + BFT + AFT) has something like 62 AA rating. For a tier 7 I find it far from being bad. But I still have more fun with Ashigara.Mostly because I like her voiceover. :p I do not know if simply reading the AA rating can tell about a ship's AA efficiency in battle. I've seen in my port some ratings that do not translate into real efficiency in game (like my Budyonny for example, or my New Mexico...). BTW if someone can shed some light on the formula used, i'll be grateful. I've double-checked though, and to my surprise it is true that the combination of raw DPM and range is only slightly less powerful than on Pensacola for example. But you must also consider that : - Defensive Fire only multiplies (by 3? 4? i do not remember) the DPM of the long-range AA (the 127mm guns), on which Pensacola has 45% more raw DPM, so that makes a big difference after multiplication - Myoko has one of the worst turning ability (if not the worse) among the tier VII cruisers, so even if you shoot down a few planes, when Defensive Fire is on cooldown, you will eat torpedoes and there is nothing you can do about it. For these reasons, I doubt an AA build on this ship will prove decisive in protecting yourself. Keep the Defensive Fire consumable to give you 2 or 3 short periods of "immunity" if a carrier attacks you, but use your skill points elsewhere and the 500k credits equipment slot for something else. No matter how well or how terribly I do, it always gravitates towards the loss. Unless I get citadelled with first hit I take and it if my first win of the day reward - in such cases it is guaranteed win. I have the same win rate in it as in pre-buff Furutaka for crying out loud... And the thing is, I'm doing rather ok in it... I know how to angle it properly, how to time shots, when to use torps, it is just cursed with horrible matchups. I find it really annoying, because it is a bloody good ship by itself, despite the awkward turret positioning. I simply do not know what to do anymore to enjoy it :/ And the second part of Ashigara mission... Requires tier VII, and it is my only tier VII... So I'd love any advice... So I'd love any advice... hard to give advice if your problem is horrible matchups how I play it: if possible, I ALWAYS shoot at DDs (unless there is an immediate threat -BB, CA/CL- nearby) if possible, I fire AP at cruisers giving broadside if nothing else, I fire HE at BBs and try to set them on fire don't be a hero, you do get citadelled quite easy use islands as cover to turn, or to ambush unsuspecting ships with a massive torp wall (you have 12 torps in total) if no DDs are left or nearby, use concealment to capture / defend bases or escape fair battles > never fight fair battles be afraid to show broadside if other cruisers are firing AP (ESPECIALLY if it's a T7+ USN, RU or KM cruiser) you have potent AP, try to find out best situations to use it > in my experience: cruisers sailing broadside on at >12km or <7km you have very strong HE, use it to burn BBs and wreck DDs > as mentioned before, I prioritize DDs; biggest threat to BBs and DDs on your team + you have good HE to deal with them (damage and shell velocity) Edited August 23, 2016 by lup3s Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
