Oh please please please - add spotting damage!

Honestly as a DD player I would love to see my contribution worthwile. And as the BB player that I am, too, I would love to share my XP with a DD that goes venturing for spots instead of just doing the smoke-torp-smoke-torp-torp-smoke thing...:)

I think this stat collecting is the precursor to it.

That's what I am hoping for - as they stated "...After analysing it, along with the gathered statistics, this data is planned to be integrated into the in-game economy in future updates, which will be announced at a later stage."

spotting damage rewards would be a great feature i sometimes spend full games in a destroyer spotting and torping areas to stop oncoming ships with no current reward apart from the odd long range torp hit

Spotting damage is a great improvement.

Just had a match which ended with the message: "you have not proved yourself in this batte."

But I did my duty by spotting the enemy ships.

I could now see, that my allies were able to do 33 k dmg due to me spotting for them.

You're welcome, team! :B

Too bad all my torps missed, my bad.. :amazed:

I hope this will be worked into a proper mechanism soon.

Let the XP and credits roll in! :coin:

Spotting damage is a very important stat and should perhaps be taken into account in exp and credits as well, although it might be difficult due to a few classes having massively superior spotting ability.

No class has better spotting ability like in WoT. But stealthy ships can perform better at this if you mean that.

I understand the requirement for "spotting" and think it's a great addition but what is the purpose for the "max potential damage of things fired at you" stat which is also now given?

I don't care if enemy ships fired shells/torps with a potential damage total of 228K because what I care about is what actually hit me and that info is already provided.

Can you/anyone explain the need for "max potential damage" to me please?

tanking for your team? something that battleships should do from time to time? and WG want to reward that - so they need numbers.

As for feedback - that total number isnt really that useful to players imho. it really should be split into HE shells, AP shells, Torps etc to actually give any info, or ideally even further so we can see who fired how much at us.

Tanking is shown as your "actual" damage, which I can understand, but I can't what benefit  there is to being shown "potential" damage. I don't care if the enemy shot 100 million HP worth of "potential" damage at me, only what actually hit me.

I can understand WG might want to use Potential vs Actual damage in their own stats but I'm not sure why the player needs to see that.

Anyway, Spotting is fantastic, well done WG!

Potential dmg being shown helps to estimate if you angling was really good or if you just thought so. For me, very good stat to show, and one I have been longing for.

Like the spotting damage info, a great idea.

As others said not so sure about the potential damage, there seems to be to many variables involved to be of any real use ie. Poor aim the RNG, your manoeuvres etc. If it refers to shells that hit but did no damage same applies again, wrg shell type fired, angling, RNG etc.

Hello,

I have one question and a suggestion

Q:  what does it mean : max potential damage ?

I read above the assumption => potential damage of shots fired at me, but it seems to me more as "total HP of ships in my range" ( that I may have hit if I was so good). The potential damage of shots fired at me cannot exceed my HP - true ?

A suggestion:

As a performance indicator it would be of most relevance the damage done reported to the damage taken.

It so often happens to get 3 kills for 3k damage that survival / kill ratio has little relevance. While doing a lot of damage, even without sealing it with the sink means a great contribution to the team's result. It may be even rewarded weather as money or experience earned in battle.

On a different note,  nice to have the relief of the islands revamped, it creates the need to rethink some tactics that became monotonous lately. I discovered some "long range hit alleys" that were not there before. Hope it goes live and affects all maps.

I'm looking forward to seeing these new metrics contributing to the XP tally. One change I would recommend would be for the 'Warships spotted' metric to be changed to 'Warship-seconds spotted' to reward spotting ships for a longer time, rather than simply having them blink into visibility for an instant. Also, does 'Torpedos spotted' count those torpedoes that were aimed at the player? Rewarding XP in that case wouldn't be consistent with encouraging team play.

On a related note, I'd like to have a breakdown of the sources of torpedo damage available on the 'Detailed Report' screen, as there already is for artillery and 'other' damage.

Hi,

Imho, the potential damage drawn by the player is an awesome addition, but a bit incomplete at the moment... It directly refers to the tanking of the player, in other words, how much aggro was drawn by the player and hence NOT aimed at the teammates. BBs should tank in order for their teammates, specially cruisers, not to get fired upon. Hence, tracking this damage attracted by the palyer is really important, but right now only the raw number is available, which is a bit useless...

What do I care whether the damage I attrackted on my futue Bayern is 300 k or 325 k ?? Not much... What I do care is whether I attacted a 35% of the total damage or just a 10%... So, my question is: Why, unlike the capturing/defending caps, this inforamtion is not given as a percentage (or "put in context") and just the raw, useless, number?

Just a suggestion: Yes, keep the raw atracted damage number, as it is cool, but add also the percentage of the player´s contribution compared to the whole team. And I think it would also be very useful to split it and offer the percentage of damage drawn by the player compared just to the other ships of the same class, under ideal circumstances jsut BBs should try to maximize this number... In this way a new player sitting at the back with his Wyoming might understand that when all the other BBs moved forward and tanked damaged for their team whilst he sat back, he did not get an awesome result on this category... which, as the spotting damage, I hope BB´s get this tanked damaged as part of the criteria for credit and xp rewards...

Tanking is shown as your "actual" damage, which I can understand, but I can't what benefit  there is to being shown "potential" damage. I don't care if the enemy shot 100 million HP worth of "potential" damage at me, only what actually hit me.

As a BB player you should try to maximize this number, saving your team from shells which would do more damage to them than to you. Tanking is NOT the damage you received, but the effort the enemy put to finish you.

I mam back with a more clear idea  of what all the posts in this section are about: :

LADDERBOARDS !

.

Yes what transpares from all posts asking for percentual, team compared post battle reports is : "|We love to scale our performance against others ".

Of course I see the difficulty of the task. How to chose comparison terms to be relevant ?  Maybe at first only by ship class for a test ?

I restate here my opinion that damage done related to own weight (HP ) would be interesting. It should be split canons (+bombs) - torpedoes, of course.

It would reward hard workers opposed to profitor kraken chasers with 5 kills and 5K total damage (How many kills were you stolen after hitting devastating citadels? )

Take the above lightly      :P   in fact every time the kraken is on top of the team score !
