Two Brothers looking very nice, it is also distracting i keep looking at how good it looks now instead of trying to shoot the enemy ships :teethhappy:

Well, I liked the original Two Brothers, so was there something wrong with the old one?

Since the release of the latest maps, I've also noticed, that the maps like North and Two Brothers comes out really rarely, yet the new ones pops up too frequently.

They just changed / updated the looks, the layout is more or less the same. Because its PTS, they want you to test them!

I've been on two brothers, the islands layout is the same i think, but the islands themselves have been reshaped to be lower in some places, both looking more realistic and reducing the annoying artillery slalom. Also, i guess it reduces the HE spam from behind them (that's why there is possibility to test Atlanta?).

The islands on these maps definitely look more realistic (which I really like!), however the decreased size may have some (un-)desired (?) implications for the gameplay.  >> as mentioned ships with an high shell arc like DDs and the Atlanta will have a harder time, being less immune to return fire. Other ships will now also have the opportunity to shoot over islands more easily..

This is a great feature in Fault Line :)

I really like the changes to both of the maps, Two Brothers looks really nice now with its changes and i like that changes that help ships with high fire arcs :)

If the lowering of Terrain continues its great news, some maps give destroyers such an advantage over the slow Battleship line. Good change.

Fault Line - Still love this map, looks fantastic and the changes feel very minor outside of the aesthetic ones.

Two Brothers - Oh dear! The middle channel is now much wider and straighter with only a very slight bend in the middle making middle charges much more easy to spot and defend against. Additionally, each outside "corner" of the 2 main islands has been chopped down in height drastically leaving no cover at all for anything higher than a DD which give you much clearer firing lanes but much less cover. Some of the other small islands have their height/shape also changed to give less cover to, again, anything higher than a DD.

Opinion - I think the change to the middle is terrible and I can not understand the thinking behoind what was a great section of the map. I think the "idea" to lower the outside corners of each main island is good but the execution is extremely poor as all four corners look like someone has just chopped the 3D mesh with a knife with no flow between the lowered section and the original terrain. The lower small islands make it much more difficult to escape behind when you're being focussed which isn't a positive for me.

Pic Added to show the areas mentions above -

Holy Global Warming Batman, we're dealing with some serious rises in sea level here! *ahem*

Liking the feel of the new versions, more opportunities to shoot (which was very annoying on Faultline before) and some cool details too. Thumbs up! :great:

I am impressed with the improvements, and having been here since 2014, I have seen great improvements to the modelling of the terrain. For those that may have missed it there is now moving traffic (I noticed this on Two Brothers) and is a fun distraction. This does deserve a 10/10.

The terrain is pretty much the last resort for some DD lines. Smoke is hard countered by excessive long Radar or Hydro, stealth fire only works sometimes, usually when there are no planes around. So the only thing that remains are islands as cover but when this is gone, gg US DDs. And BBs sit far in the back anyway, so i think lower terrain only benefits the camper even more, because there is no island in the way that blocks the 20km+ sniping so Cruiser have nowhere to hide. We'll see how it goes when the changes hit live.

I can sort of see the reasoning for the changes (esp Two Brothers), but tend to agree with the poster above.

Plus, to me at least, the terrain in Two Brothers looks downright unnatural. I mean you have this extremely flat terrain around the coast, but then at the waterline there's a sudden drop, meaning you can essentially drive your battleship right next to the coast (at least that's the impression I got from my games a few days ago). Seems very artificial. I would prefer a steeper gradient that would continue into the water making it so that if you stray too close to the shore you'd beach yourself.
