Brand new and really bad

Here's a few things about ships

US cruisers:

-Very good AA

-Decent HE shells (good for starting fires)

-Relatively poor AP shells

-Slow shells

-Somewhat annoying to play at tiers 7 and 8 (usually most played tiers) because of their lack of armor at that tier

-No torpedoes (with the exception of tiers 4 and 5)

IJN cruisers:

-Slightly faster

-Poor AA

-Relatively good AP shells and high caliber guns

-Good HE shells

-Slow turret rotation speed

-Good torpedoes

German cruisers:

-Very little armor

-Good range

-Decent AA

-Very good AP shells

-Poor HE shells

Russian cruisers:

-Defensive torpedoes

-Slightly worse AA

-Big range

-Excellent shell velocity

US battleships:

-Slow

-Shorter range

-Good AA

-Good armor

-Slightly larger dispersion

-Brawlers

IJN Battleships:

-Fast

-Longer range

-Somewhat lacking AA

-Slightly less armor

-Good secondaries

US destroyers:

-Very good turrets (fast reload, rotation speed)

-Medium/short range torpedoes

-Best for hunting other destroyers at close range

-Slow shells

-Can stealth fire with ease

IJN destroyers:

-Slow firing/turning turrets

-Long range torpedoes

-Best for stealth torpedoing enemy ships

Russian destroyers:

-Very short range torpedoes

-Relatively large caliber turrets which allows them to citadel ships easier

-Good shell velocity

-Slow turning turrets

-Good range

-Slightly worse concealment

US carriers:

-Larger squadrons

-Less squadrons

-Very good for air superiority

-Very specialized

IJN carriers:

-Smaller squadrons

-More squadrons

-Good for bombing ships

+1 for that. lp!

Shell arcs make it almost impossible to use AP effectively at anything other than short range.

Only on Cleveland, Baltimore and DM. And it's not "almost impossible", it's "very difficult". It doesn't change the fact that, when they hit, they hit VERY hard. Especially at long range since they drop vertically on the target and citadel almost anything.

Every single person on this forum has been in your position, just enjoy it and after plenty of practice things just start to come together. Lots of great people on this forum only to eager to help but the occasional idiot on here and more so on the game chat will belittle you, just ignore them and their hot air.

Very much this...... despite the games slower pace than say World of Tanks there is a lot of multitasking to do even on the most simple ships, if you give the game time you will improve and a couple of things to remember you are normally not as good as your last victory or as bad as your last loss. There are people that are idiots and who will blame you when the team loses but in all honesty the amount of times that one player loses a game for a team are pretty limited and I would simply ignore that kind of ranting.

Don't forget to have fun and when something didn't work out check with yourself if you could have done it different. But first and foremost have fun!

I would even say Aiming guides are useless "now". Low tiers require a different aiming technique as T4+ anyway (imho) as arcs, distances, speeds and ship sizes change vastly early on.

Shell flight time is still the most important aspect.

Simply because if trying to learn leading by target's distance different shell trajectories are going to mess it when changing ship while correct lead for particular target is always same when shell flight time is same.

(distance just varies)

I don't know how many time I have to repeat myself, but the gun arc from Pensacola and NO is the same as the bloody japanese 203. EXACTLY the same. If you can aim with Myoko, you can with Pensacola and NO. Eurobeat even proven it in his Indianapolis video.

It doesn't change the fact that it's a lot harder to citadel stuff in them than in myoko
