[CEBAB] Dr_Knolle Players 8 posts 16,409 battles Report post #26 Posted August 8, 2016 will you make an exception for my favorite boat; the zao? its most effective when positioned 18km+ away from the action It's not about the distance between your ship and the others. At the moment I prefer the North Carolina, so i try to keep a fighting distance somewhere between 15 and 20 km. My point is more about where you are, when you have that 18km distance to enemy ship. This video just destroyed my last hope that players at T10 would have more tactical knowledge than a monkey.

Maybe they were going for historical accuracy. whatever we discuss about team questionable tactics it always amazes me that real life battles were even worse... I just don't think that either camping somewhere or the lemming train are the only viable playstyles. Normally the starting-locations create kinda good battlegroups. If a whole group pushes, let's say, 2BB, 1DD and a cruiser starts to push one side of the map, or one cap, they can survive long enough to defend and if they cap uncontested, they can turn and support other battlegroups. Of course, success depends on each players' skill, but playing like this, is really fun if the battlegroup is as described and working together well. I had the pleasure to play several games on the weekend, in which I got those teammates. For me it was some of the most enjoyable playtime in a while. Problem is the more fragile Units usally break off. There is no exp in runing after a retreating enemy if your in a DD but there is a lots of exp in blowing up leming Trains in a DD ,-)) allways fun to shoot Torps salvos agist anvancing enemys and hiting multiple ships in the same salvo ,-)) With that many Targets you allways hit something even if its not allways what your orginaly aiming for. Real life battles didn't have automaps with all visible positions, though. Some things in real battles were pretty bad. Things in this game are pretty bad much more regularly. Some things in real battles were pretty bad. Things in this game are pretty bad much more regularly. One might argue the battles are more regular than actual naval battles though but yes. Some of the tactical "awareness" in games truly astounds me. Which is a question on OPs point really. When is it a "play style" vs. "Downright stupid".
