ARP Ashigara unlocked, next please WG! On a more serious note, with Ashigara knocked down we can only get Nachi of the Myoko class cruisers unless we get Takao.... frankly I'm hoping we get to have Takao and maybe some of the manga ships after that? (Since the show/movie are pretty limited compared to the manga, the manga having Lexington, Zuikaku, Atago, Nagato and more.) Or will we end up just getting the previous ships in different combinations? What do you guys think? :3

Guys, there is a ARP Version of the Takao ingame. I saw one with the tech tree mod of Aslain at least. There is no model to be honest but the name and the picture are there, so maybeeee....

My guess is that the ARP Takao will have a mission that requires using the Atago. Unless they decide that the usual premium benefits are enough to sell the Atago.

Takao was added inside the folders of the game one or two patches ago. Also we have her voice in the res/banks folders. I think we'll have her eventually, but with missions more difficult than for the different Myoko.

And obviously it would requires playing in tier 8 or above.

 

Well, next is probably Nachi. I'm willing to bet they'll go for Kongo + Nachi missions as they seems to give an opportunity to get the older ARP models. (And I really want a chance to get Kongo and Myoko too !^^)

Creating Missions and making them more difficult is not a very good idea. And that is not due to "incompetent" players but due to the average amount of time a player can invest into World of Warships during the period of the missions. There aren’t a lot of people who can complete the mission in several days because they have school holidays or similar things. So getting an fair amount of torpedo hits is by far more complicated and isn't really going to happen all that often on higher Tiers if you play a cruiser and you happening to intend to survive afterwards (It's just not very likely).

 

So having a Mission with a lower likelihood to be completed is a bad idea. Using goals like we already have for the Arpeggio ships have a high likelihood to be completed with more or less effort. Only the time it takes is a factor they can't make sure. Did you remember the first two Arpeggio missions for Myoko and Kongo? One of them had a stage you had to shoot down aircraft for, to complete it. For this every game you had to meet aircraft carriers and ... well it required you to play a cruiser with the AA consumable for a good progress. We don't meet such a mission again due to exactly that reason. It just depends on too much randomness and you can't have an impact on matchmaking unless you play a carrier yourself, running an aircraft setup which you may have not even unlocked yet.

 

It’s just too random and inconsistent to be fair or accurate. Actually I think the meeting requirement for the Takao will be the Atago after all. I always wondered about it because you won’t get a premium ship entirely – you’ll lack the XP and Credit buff after all – but when I imagine seeing a lot of them on the high seas I see that the Atago owners would feel less unique and Wargaming wouldn’t make as much money. So I guess they’ll say: “Own the Atago and get your Takao along with it”. With the price of the premium ship the owners could get Takao for free or just a small mission to complete when they have the Port selected and intend to have the ship. I guess it will go with Maya the same way, if she will be released. But honestly Maya differs quite a lot due to the AA Cruiser layout so maybe there’ll be a second Premium IJN Tier VIII with the Arpeggio mission for Maya? By that planes in the battles should be more popular again…. And I think only then we will see Tone as well (She was long enough on the test servers Wargaming! Now let her free!).

To be fair we could get the other prominent ships from the show like the Zuikaku (a Shokaku), the Lexington, the Bismark, the Yamatos, the Yukikaze (a Kagero), the Ise (unlikely considering they have no model for her, but could be interesting), the Repulse (unlikely for the same reason), the Vampire (Same).

WG doesn't really spend much time on these ships. It's literally just a texture and for some of them a voice package. So making new ships isn't really gonna be delayed due to making these.
