DinkyToy_AW Players 236 posts 4,462 battles Report post #1 Posted August 3, 2016 Hello fellow Captains, After the last patch i feel that there is a increased catching fire thingy going on?The moment you get spotted and you only see 1 single tiny HE shell, comming your direction your will get on fire, then the next tiny little shell hits you everywere as long its hits your bb's you have a second or third fire on.Well i have a small feeling before last patch it was okay ones a wile a fire im okay with that, but now holy moly not joking but im "75%-80%" of the time burning (main case is, i don't can bring so much mars-mallows with me every time). Fair enough we have a heal + repairs ....But ermm ....The thing is, after you used repairs 10 seconds later your have again 1 or 3 fires, but you have a 2 min cd-time, but to dodge these incomming shots bb's arnt build to do that so well... Question: Is the catch on fire on bb's increased (oh, hello do you have a lighter for me plz) ?Is the dmg / metlting from fire increased (i feel my self mostly stearing a buttercup) ?Thanks
Agantas Players 1,059 posts 7,793 battles Report post #2 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) Have you noticed that there are new ARP missions available? First part involves doing damage, second part involves doing 2000 hits. Best way of gathering the hits is to spam HE at BBs. Also note fires mission in Boot Camp. Well, what have this to do with quickly getting on fire im talking for example 6 fires in 2 min. is a bit to much.to handle or not ? (that was my question actually). _Teob_ Players 1,625 posts 14,901 battles Report post #6 Posted August 3, 2016 I am not sure it helps but the way I look at it is, I am on fire most of the time. One fire does 0.3% of my health per second. Even with 3 fires I still have (around) 100 seconds to live. That's 3-4 salvos from my main guns and each salvo can delete a cruiser/cripple a BB - make each salvo count.
mtm78 Alpha Tester 19,378 posts 6,105 battles Report post #7 Posted August 3, 2016 I would have to see the most recent numbers but I don't think much changed recently, and historically fires only seem like to be a big damage dealer while in fact the actual % of damage they do against BB's was not that high. Perhaps your anti-fire flags were turned off auto resupply by the recent patch? Either way, you should really embrace the fires. It's the only way. [H_FAN] Gnirf Players 3,293 posts 67,343 battles Report post #13 Posted August 4, 2016 May I ask what tiers you are playing cause I do not find the higher tier BBs so easily caught fire, unless its Atlanta or some machine gun firing ship focusing on you, of course if several HE spamming ships concentrate on you will be on fire a lot. It is not so often that you have more than 1 fire at least (seldom use repair on 1 fire if I am not near Death or know that there are no immediate threats nearby). But one thing is that if newcomers are relatively fewer than veterans at the tiers you are playing you will be more on fire. Many use DE as tier 4 skill which will rise the firing chance a lot. Many also switches AP/HE a lot, if you are good at angling your ship I will as an opponent use HE more. All that increases the relative chance for you to catch fire without changing the actual data calculations behind.

Sure you can US BB tiers 4-7-8 + prem tier 5 Texas (favor NC) Not playing Jap bb's as i dont like them so much... Im a defensive player like to outplay my opponend so i pick my targets carefully those what not paying attention, im aware of angling and use the terrain as much as i can. Im not scared to dogfight a destroyer/cruiser or battleship when its needed but i keep always my distance if its possible. As i tryed to sa in the first post: Example a US dd with ish 10% fire change sets my bb even so easy on fire as jap with 20% fire change just a few hits its on the bb.that was feeling weird then with patch 5.8 \ Thanks

Your examples are not empirical they are anecdotal ( and no screenshots showing the amount of hits vs the amount of fires, nor a replay to see if you're managing those fires as best as possible ). mtm78 Alpha Tester 19,378 posts 6,105 battles Report post #19 Posted August 5, 2016 Well how many times did you get Fireproof in Nicolai? Imperator and Izumo are the BB's with the least superstructure ( harder to hit with HE and put on fire ).
