There's no way Tirpitz has 56 AA rating.

Every single time I get slammed by planes, and I always see planes going after other tirpitz's too.

It sounds and looks like one MP40 being fired. Whats the range? I swear the enemy had 2 fighters flying around me at 2km  and the guns werent even firing (yes they were turned on). It needs a buff.

Nah it must have some sort of weakness, and AA is a "good" weakness. And it is not that bad, with AFT and a fighter plane it is good enough IMO.

It has been buffed for like 17 times, so why not. Buff it. Everyone likes buffs for premium ships regardless if they need them or not.

Next time, just do not forget to press "P" and allow your AA-crew to do their work.

And please, do not skill your captain like this: LINK.

A good skilled captain is the half way...

@Geralt poor barrel what did she do to deserve this...

it is not that Tirpitz has bad AA, just relatively worse than other t8 BB

Tirpitz benefits mroe than any other ship from Manual AA captain perk.

Manual AA and AFT would make very strong AA.

Most clever tirpitz players use Manual AA.

I did, until I found out that making secondaries rain on your enemies is more fun

Fun fact, German AA is stupid.

Trying to boost the range with AFT and things like that is acknowledging that the 20 and 37mm guns exist, which is a dire mistake. They're firework displays.

Your strength comes from the 105mm guns. Get manual control for twice the DPS, and watch the planes fall out of the sky.

If I could shoot down tier7 and 8 planes with the Yorck relatively reliably, then you can do it too, especially since you have twice the guns.

Most of my games are like 30-40 secondary hits and 2k damage. Such OP ship.

Tirpitz AA guns are self defense guns. rather than escort guns that you get on cruisers like the cleveland.

so generally regardless of their actual power their range will be shorter

The AA of the Tirpitz is suicide for T6 and T7 planes.

An AA specced Tirpitz (BFT + AFT + Manual AA) with the AA flag and AA range module puts out the following AA DPS:

370 @ 6.5km

24 @ 5.0km

101 @ 2.9km

This is actually pretty respectable AA dps. It would beat a North Carolina that was not AA specced and it beats many of the equivalent level cruisers and even above when they're not using defensive fire. So if you spec for it then the AA tends to be good enough to defend you from air.

Of course when your AA guns are broken then it's another situation, but then again, even a Montana or Des Moines with most of their AA guns broken would put out weak AA dps. However, the strength of the Tirpitz does not lie in its AA abilities, you get a very good armor model, decent guns and torpedoes instead.

thing is, and this is purely personal observation across lotsa ships, DP turrets tend to get broken very little these days - and since almost all of her AA comes from those, Derpitz AA is actually very resilient I feel like.

Tirp AA is serviceable, you can punish some mid tier CV for trying to sink you.

I really want to take the Manual AA Captain Perk however the idea of a Stealth Tirp (CE) appeals too much :B

If you find Tirpitz's AA to be troublesome, prepare to spill lots of tears when a Littorio-class BB will come around...

Meanwhile _x_Acheron_x_ AAA at work.

I must say I'm personally partial to this:

I think Tirpitz AA is very fine. But as others have pointed out, the manual AA skill is a must. Not only does this give some good DPS, the dual purpose guns are also very durable, meaning you want have problems with weakened AA after long engagements with HE spammers.

Naturally, Tirpitz wont instantly wipe enemy planes. But by being aware of enemy planes and using Tirpitz' speed and manoeuvrability, one can deal with planes quite successfully.

Acheron is pretty smart, throws in a troll grenade and runs away watching the fall out.........

Rank 1 -Basic Fire training
Rank 4 - Advanced Fire Training
Rank 4 - Manual Fire control

It'll shred aircraft from any CV from tier 8 and below, I've shot down 30 planes from a Lexington so it's more than capable of defending itself with the AA build; not much you can do about T9/10 though. But that's not surprising, unless you're running a USN BB you're going to get torpedo'd if you get focused on. The manual AA, combined with ATF and BFT gives a huge boost to the 105mm guns which is where most to where Tirpitz' AA comes from. It's the build I use, as I kept getting spotted and torp'd by aircraft.

After using the Amagi, with that 15km detection radius, Tirpitz isn't bad by comparison. I haven't tried the stealth build yet, I was tempted but hated getting hit by CVs, I just do my best to try and use terrain to block line of sight when I get up tiered vs Yamatos.

If the Tirp can't protect itself from higher levels even with Manual AA I think I'll still rather go stealth Tirp.

CV are a fairly rare breed these days, I'll suffer weaker AA for a stealth rating I can use every single game.
