Is Flint really that OP?

I just saw iChase´s video of a Flint in action and i really looks broken OP with that huge smokecloud, that long smoke duration with just 30 sec cooldown between end of smoke til the next is up!? 8+ k torps? Great AA and awsome HE spam.

As you can see in the video he can just park and hold an entire flank on his own killing ship after ship.

How would you counter this? You cant bomb with planes because he shots them down, and the planes cant really see him. You cant really fire or torp him efficiently because he has a smokecloud of the size of Utah to hide in so the chans of hitting him is slim at best. And if a DD takes a chans to go in and torp and gets spotted hes dead.

The smoke on the Kutuzov is balanced by its so small it just barely covers the ship and the duration is really short. But this is complete opposite?! And Kutuzov can even spam this amount of damage to close targets as the Flint can with its ROF.

I know this is "just" a reward ship, but their is still gonna be quite a few of this sailing around.

And what if WG decides to sell this in the shop later on?

What do you guys think?

Think a Division with Flint, Atlanta and Chappy. Flint poppes his huge smoke and they all hide in it and Atlanta and Chappy pops Radar and Hydra and just goes to town on the enemys opening up a giant can of Whopass!

Please... this ship is not even in the game for 24h and this [edited] starts already?

Every ship is OP in a certain situation and iChase is really not someone to trust when it comes to the game actually...

And? You do the same thing as you do with smoked DD.

Torpedos, aim at the origin of the shots.

Depending on range, radar or sonar. A stopped Flint is down in seconds.

Kill the spotter or seek cover or move out of range.

With the size of the ship even blind fire might work.

Really no problem, unless you are sailing alone.

Flint owner here, it is most definitely hilariously OP. Had a double Flint division yesterday too, that is just disgusting. We also had a Pepsicola (because that poor soul tried to reach rank 1 in his pepsi this season and now he doesn't have any hair left on his head). Basically we just pushed into a cap and permasmoked there with permanent hydro and a spotter plane, there was literally nothing they could do.

On the other hand  we did sell our souls to Stan to get it, so I guess it shouldn't be just some bad reward ship like the Marblehead... and it's wrecking my wtr, lost 5 points yesterday =(

Sure Pete you all can do that, when you have the time to do it and not death in more or less than 20 - 30 seconds.

Watch the Video and then you will see that no other DD or any kind of ship can do this, like the Flint can do.

Yesterday I ran into a Flint and an Atlanta with my Tirpitz. The Tirp melted like an ice cube on a sunny afternoon.

I can't see them, and havent got time to turn and sail away. I won't call it op, but I'll stay the opposite side of the map than this little [edited]

If you die in 20-30 seconds, you are doing something wrong.

True but watch the Video then you will see what i'm talking about. Otherwise its a discussion about yes or no.

I see a bunch of cruisers sailing broadside to a smoke cloud at close range....

I have killed enemy cruiser faster in my Koenigsberg than that.

Hahaha, but with a Königsberg you cannot hold a whole flank against 5 Ships. :teethhappy:

They only have like 12-13 km firing range and an arc which still leaves you about 20-30 seconds until the shells hit. If they burn you down, you've been doing stuff wrong in that game. For quite some time.

If she stands in a smoke cloud against such brainless enemies, sure.

Flint is not alone, he's backed up by another cruiser and a dd. Enemy cruisers come into view one at a time. Just bad play from the red team and good by the green. Any 2 cruisers and a dd could have done this.

reported as pointless whine.

Where exactly did he whine? There are enough whine threads on this forum, but this is not one of them.

He is asking for opinions, not just going OMG OP NERF

Other people see only problems, I see solutions.

We will talk about the Solution when you get burned out by a invisible Flint :teethhappy:

The "ran into" part means I made a mistake, and they popped up from behind an island. It was a mistake, this is not a question. But nothing killed me before as fast as these two, and without any chance to fight back. You can call me bad player, don't care, really I'm not a big shot, but this little ship has all the powers of the dd's plus the huge He output. It's a new type of danger out there.
