[KLUNJ] Dirty_Filthy_Scrublord Beta Tester 110 posts 15,245 battles Report post #1 Posted July 31, 2016 Absolutely sick of people shouting in game "reported for bot" "reported for being a noob" etc etc, the list is endless. Most appear to have one thing in common, they come from the people that are sunk early on and it`s everyone else`s fault. We all have crapgames, make mistakes etc....even the best screw it up too. This reporting "thing" is an absolute shower of crap, means nothing and does nothing. It`s also becoming common for swearing in chat, usually aimed at those that have been reported for ridiculous reasons. Kids play this game, and lets not forget it is a game...these kids probably do hear worse on the streets and at school....but it does not excuse it. I`m playing less and less now because the toxicity in chat is so unpleasant and unnecessary. And before anyone replies with a grow up etc etc.... I`m 46 and done enough growing up ty.

Reporting for misbehaviour in chat does do something though and I suggest you use it! It might have an infinitesimal chance of altering their behaviour - though unfortunately, I doubt it! You know what I am sick of? Dumb teammates that give no support, are generally just really bad, etc. It's my way to release anger. It doesn't happen after 1 crap game and it doesn't happen after just a loss with decent game on both sides. But 90% of my losses AND wins is about one team completely crushing the other. One would think that the hundreds of games it took to reach tier 8 had an impact on players' skills. But apparently, that's not the case for many. Or the MM is just so horrible that it fails to make decently fair matches. Or both. But I digress. There is an ignore button ingame. Rocket science. There you have your safe space. Yeah we won, by a large margin too, what in Mechwarrior online circles is referred to as GG Close!.

[TEA] Robber_Baron Players 1,322 posts 7,981 battles Report post #15 Posted July 31, 2016 I still cant believe people are crying about insults and sheit-talk in chat, its nature of the internet. It's nature, sure, but that doesn't make it a good thing. Too many people blame their team (and occasionally the top players of their team) for their own bad game. I get frustrated as well, but insulting doesn't help a bad player in getting better. And there's a difference in actually telling people what to do (thus helping) and only insulting and swearing when people make errors, often when the game is already lost (not helping, only creating more hatred). I tell them I am looking forward to the scoreboard to see how much they themselves supported the team and made an effort. Most shut up after that. The ones that go on about how they went to B with their Cleveland and got no support what so ever, I tell them that why the frack did you go to B with no support '?'. Pretty much the rest turn silent after that one. There are one and two that go on and on, just ignore them for the rest of the game. There is one unwritten rule, the more people complain the less they contribute.

Now game communities take proper action and report people! Seriously though, before LoL I remember in some games people could even get banned for false reports. After LoL's stuff reports are very common.

I should probably clarify, though. I don't report people who just swear. I report those who swear at others. Swearing at yourself for messing up is fine. Swearing at others because you messed up but blame someone else isn't. It doesn't really get under my skin if people swear, but I think the environment will be better if people behave better and aren't so needlessly hostile. It means nothing in the long run, but it does make me smile to think of the fury they get when they see their own karma drop after they report people for not playing the way they want them to, or for getting a citadel on them, or for dodging gunfire rather than taking it like a man, or the myriad of other ludicrous reasons they come up with. Play them at their own game.

This kind of behaviour is likely to make me rage more than anything. Bad players I can cope with. Will fully stupid ones make me angry. Basically those players who play for themselves and don't try to win as a team. I hate this! I have on occasions then become toxic in chat. But I don't swear. I'm not even rude. However I am venomous, point out why he's lost us the game, and "suggest" that people might want to report him for poor play, while using words like "disappointed" and "feel like our hard work has been wasted because one guy isn't a team player". I bet this approach gets a lot more reports... So swearing isn't a problem. Ignore that guy in chat if pointlessly raging.
