So i've finally reacher Yorck. I read all the fora about Yorck being terrible pain, but hey, i've read that about Pensacola too and it was very strong ship.

So far ive had few games in it, probably less than 10 and i came to conclusion that this ship indeed is horribad...

AP - no power at all... out of 3 perfectly places salvos in side of pensacora only two citadels? at 9km? really?

arc of fire - i had dueled atlanta at 11 km and my arc were worse.... like what? This is a heavy cruiser? maybe it has catapults instead of guns and WG forgot to model it? Arc is terrible and hitting anything is pain - ship has no sweetspot for engage - would be nice on 3km, but thats absurd for T7

Maneuverability - turning is ok, but stopping and moving again is nightmare. i think lot of BBs might feel more suble in that way.

Armour - is somewhat acceptable. Still feels worse than Nurmberg though.

Dispersion - feels really unaccurate, will see later, with more games.

While playing Nurmberg was a real delight if the map allowed to close distance to your target this one feels really like pure pain - No real use at all.

Don't know why, but the few games I had the the yorck I really enjoyed. I absolutely loathed the Nürnberg.

Yorck's AP arc is pretty bad. Just stick to HE. I thought it was pretty bad until I was advised to use HE. Those are HE shells  are from a 210mm gun not 150mm like the Koningsberg or Nurenberg so they will be painful when they hit anything. Plus the arc is better.

i know that feeling. i skipped the Nürnberg after i researched the b-hull ... its too fragile for its tier, while not being CL-agile . bad combination. its turning speed is horrible. overall, the Nürnberg is not a good ship - especially, if you have played the Königsberg with her 360°- aft-turrets.

the yorck is ... special. if you manage to master her, she is a battlecruiser with troll-armour. HE is actually not bad on this ship and usefull at long ranges. ap is for mid-close range, in combination with torpedos.

this ship is not easy to play, and very hard to master. but this is true for most german ships except the karlsruhe ... she is just a pile of scrap.

The Dork is 1 of the most bizar ships I've played so far. Either a match is going extremely well or extremely poor. There's hardly a middle way... I finished the GNB XP missions in the Yorck! Of all ships! I don't have any advice how (not) to play it. I usually stuck to AP 9 out of 10 shots were misses/ bounces but the 10th was dealing 8000 dmg per salvo...

Shoot HE all the time,  only shoot AP from below 8-9 km and on broadsides. It has the strongest HE from the German ships,  respec its captain to DE skill.  Bow on or slighly angled has good armor,  so you can go for yolo torp on BBs. Good Hydro,  strong HE and torps make it good to support the DDs in the cap zones,  if you stay angled or bow on so the BBs can t citadel you.

Sorry,  but this is the only GE cruiser where HE and DE is the way to go. No wonder it was 1 good hit in 10.

Yorck is a hidden gem, I did quite well in mine. Just forget everything the previous GE cruisers teached you and be an HE spamming nuisance. Only use AP on close range targets, and don't forget about the huge difference in lead when switching.

my advice is to run quite a few coop-matches. the yorck is a troll - its armor is fantastic if angled correctly and AP is devesating mid-close range.

she simply plays very different from all the other cruisers in the german line. you can get up close and personal, unleash AP and torpedo-hell AND get away with it. if the bots are good for anything, its ther good marksmanship. if they aim at you, they will probably hit you. this can be used to train armor angling and torp-runs. AND it is a very good chance to face a yorck under "controlled" circunstances. shoot with AP at your evil twin to see how good the armor actually is.

my advice is ...

Mine is to play the ship in PvP and see if you're really the one who should be giving me any advice on how to play her?

PvE is not PvP, you can not give advice to people who play PvP if you only played 100 games in PvP overall and none in the ship in question.

Maybe to new players, but I am quite visibly not a new player, so your advice is quite badly aimed here.

Yorck can be a real fun little beauty like a baby battle cruiser (after a million buffs).

HE works very well with OK trajectory at range and AP is devastating in closer combat, ideally 9km and less roughly. Torps can be the ugly surprise if it gets really personal.

She is different to the other German cruisers but a very pleasant and beautiful refreshment before you get to the AP ships at high tier.

charming.

coop is nice to observe ammo-behaviour and armor layouts. whats wrong with that? coop-games are not where you learn how to fight humans but its a good way to learn the quirks of a new ship. every coop-match is mirriored - this is a perfect opportunity to learn, where the own ship is vulnerable and from where you can shoot it best. if you know that, you also know how not to get shot.

Except that bots don't react the same way as players. They're WAY more predictable, and tend to give nice broadside/not give a single **** about obvious 6km torpedo salvoes.

So no, playing PvE and telling people how to play PvP is not a good idea. Especially not when it's suggesting to go up close and personnal with a Yorck.

You only do that when you want to get a fight over with, or when you're confronted with a rapid fire HE spammer that can simply avoid your catapult shells at long range.

Anything else and you're just going for a DPM brawl, in which you're going to come out a loser, or you're just praying for citadel overpens.

I do not mind anyone playing what they want, but as said above the gameplay in PvE and PvP is very different because the AI can not mimic human behavior. The behavior you see in game is not the same as I see, therefore your advice should be limited to what you got experience with: PVE. I am sure there are many people who can use your advice and assistance as you seem to do well in PvE, but you can not extrapolate what works in PvE directly to PvP.

the whole reason to run a few coop round is because the AI is far away from being human.

the storm at you without a second thought, they dont change course ... its perfect to learn the different shell speeds (HE vs. AP) and to learn, where the ship is vulnerable and where not.

coop is ideal to train that, because the AI behaves like AI. its basically a mirrored training room.

yorck is pretty nice, but indeed, use HE until really close and broadside, only then use AP. I found it to be a real DD killer with its powerful HE and it is pretty accurate at that distance <10km when engaging DD's. torps are a nice plus in close quarters. as a matter of fact, pretty much all cruisers are nice DD hunters....

I found the Nurmberg was bloody awful while the Yorck was good I like it more than the Hipper.

I didn't like the Nurnberg that much either (can't comment on the Hipper), just started on the Yorck and so far I'm undecided, takes some time to get used to I think. But to add 1 more thing: I think she looks beautiful! :great:

The Yorck made me quit the german CA line, I found it to be really really bad against anything larger then a DD.

Indeed.

I did really well with Yorck after fearing her performance due to her bad reputation. So when I finished her I had high hopes for Hipper. Man were those dashed. I did significantly worse in her than Yorck. I lost 14% WR, a bit of damage, kills per game dropped by 0.23, and survivability went from 44% to 31%.

Before someone says I don't know how to play Hipper, I still did 60% better in damage than the average and a bit more than 15% better in WR. She just couldn't match my Yorck.

Can you teach me how to be an Hipster plox, I am not doing well so far and I found it annoying as hell. As soon as people are not stupid and angle I loose every engagement ( maybe I should switch to HE quicker :hiding: )..
