Thank you WG for this:

'From 28 July at 07:10 CEST until 4 August at 07:10 CEST the skill reset for commanders will be discounted to a symbolic amount of 1 Doubloon per 1 Skill point. During this period players will receive 100 Doubloons when they log into the client to make any necessary changes.'

This was especially important to those of us with high (18) point captains.

Keep up the with good community work you are doing.

All the best,

Isitari.

I was hopping for complete reset because some my captains are screwed by wrong choises from past but this is more that acceptable.

Thumbs up

It's good. The community spoke. WG listened.

It's not a perfect solution and we might have avoided it if WG had asked before making such a change but it's a good start :)

oh come on... still you're not happy? WG got flakk for the forced complete reset last time because it was tedious to redo every single captain, so now they allow you to do it on any captain you want to for basically free (even captains that aren't even affected at all). Most people won't have more than four or five captains that "need" the respec particularly badly, so for most it will actually be a net gain in dubloons if they just respec those that do need it - or you get an amazing discount of 96% on all your current respec needs.

That... plus you probably wont use up all the gold... free experimenting with different cpt skills :)

If you ask me this is the best possible solution. So thank you WG for listening and understanding.

I'm very happy :) I wasn't that bothered to start with. If I needed the respec i would have paid the couple of quid. :D

im just being objective and unbiased. In hindsight (a wonderful thing) perhaps episodes like this (change announced - forum panic and uproar - last minute fix) could be avoided. Maybe.

Learnings all round obviously. I wasn't nitpicking WG. I'm usually accused of defending them as a "fanboy" :D

Anyone who says this isn't extremely decent is being unreasonable... I'm sure most of us could have put a +1 into our captains and got refunded but now we get to re-spec loads of captains that aren't even involved in the SA change.

It was a bit worrying that it seemed to take a lot of rabble-rousing for WG to take note of the issue, but this late solution is very welcome. Much appreciated, WG.

Pitchforks!! But seriously I think it was the specific pointing out of just where it wasn't right - reasonably by some posters on the forums that helped.

I think many here have not so much experience with other game companies or they would know that WG does actually a very good job listening to their players and react very fast to problems and wishes. I'm a bit older than the (probably vast) majority of other gamers here and i have an almost 25 years history of gaming and have seen a lot. There are so many much much worse gaming companies in the industry that i'd rate the WG community management at least among the top 10% that actually do a good job.

Of course there are a lot of things to improve (*cough* family premium account/ship discounts and such; less grind; reduced high tier repair *cough*) but from what i've seen so far the players should have very little reason to bash WG like some people did in other threads.

A nice gesture, really. It's small stuff like this that improves your reputation. Well done. :)
