Actually water kills kinetic energy pretty fast. most Shells wouldnt cause enogh damage to really count as flooding. On waterline leaks werent  really disableling for warships at all. For example a DD raming a CA:

"Glowworm struck the cruiser just abaft the anchor. The collision broke off Glowworm's bow and the rest of the ship scraped along Hipper's side, gouging open several holes in the latter's hull and destroying her forward starboard torpedo mounting. One German sailor was knocked overboard by the collision. Hipper took on some 500 tonnes (490 long tons) of water before the leaks could be isolated, but was not seriously damaged."

AP pens would just create a small hole unless they hit something important. HE would detonate on impact to the water never reaching a significant distance under water. Basicall a 16 inch HE would have to detonate right in the water next to the target the area of efect would be really small.

if a 410mm shell overpens, isn't there a 410mm hole in your ship?

And a hole of that size isn't going to be a huge issue for a ship, and incomparable to the damage across multiple compartments that torpedoes can cause. It's just more "I want this in the game so my ships get a buff so I'll make some plead for realism and then ignore other things that are as realistic".

How about flooding not being fixed at all while there's a fire on your ship, that's realistic too.

Actually no moron. The exit hole of a damaged ship would be HUGE. Just like when u fire a pistol. The entry hole is small, but the exit hole is 10 times bigger.

Thats how the dreadnoughts actually killed eachother in the 1910-1940..How about go back to being tomato troll in wot forums..

And what does a 410mm hole do to the seaworthiness to a 120 m plus vessle? especally if its just on the waterline? certainly not the same damage a Long Lance hit does no even Close ,-))

Bad comparison: take a emty tincan shoot at at: the exit hole is about the same size than the entry hole. the reason it work diferent on the human Body is because its filled to the rim with liquid and no way the energy transvered to the Body can be displaced. An AP Shell not detonating just punces holes since its desiged to not deform as much as posible to make as much prenetration as it can to detonate the relativ small explosive Charge in sections that dont really react wells to any damage.

Except that's both historicly entirely wrong, and also wrong from a physics point of view (and clearly you've not fired any weapons and are entirely clueless about the differences between a FMJ round and a hollow point or expanding round).

So, as I said before, stay gone.

i was just thinking the same thing... didnt he leave like 2-3 times already?

Well it's like herpes... No matter what you do, this crap will come back every now an then :D

And like the others said: The holes wouldn't cause flooding serious enough to be taken into consideration. So no, the mechanic is fine like it is right now.
