I assume this will work similar to the german sub forum? So you gather the questions and post answers directly in this thread?

1. What happens to the answered questions, will you delete them to keep some sort of cleanliness in this thread?

2. The german subforum lets upvotes decide which 5 questions per week should be forwarded to the relevant persons that can answer them? Why is it different in this thread? Or do you plan to forward all questions that meet the given criteria?

Greetings

1. When we take a question for consideration the post is hidden to make sure it does not get cluttered.

2. We have not seen so many questions that this has been necessary in the past. And generally we will forward all the interesting questions.

Please do however bear in mind that this still does not necessarily mean that we will have an answer for every question.

First of all, thanks for getting this back on track. Don't underestimate the impact of this thread. Even if some of the questions are not 'relevant', if you neglect a thread like this, it will only get worse, not better.

I'd like to follow up on one of my previous questions:

Will the objectives of the game be altered to better reflect actual naval warfare?

  • No, this is first and foremost a game, so objectives will only every be altered to improve gameplay and enjoyment!

This answer reads as if WG thinks realism precludes fun, that they are mutually exclusive. But for people who love warships and their history, this realism is a huge part of enjoying a game like this. Even a bit more realism would greatly add to that enjoyment! I very much dislike the fact that all game modes include capping, no exceptions, even though capping makes no sense at all! No fleet steamed into the middle of an ocean, stayed there for a bit, then declared victory. I am confident more realistic game modes can be developed, which are engaging, intuitive as well as fun. The easiest thing to do would be to include a kind of deathmatch scenario. Many players already play that way or expect the game to play that way. I have already made a few posts illustrating some examples that would make the game more diverse and a bit more realistic, catering more to the people like me who like at least some realism in their game. Right now, all that is realistic are those ships that are actually historical, and I think that makes the game less attractive to players like me, who know a lot about these ships and their rich and varied history. For some of my suggestions, see here: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/71026-suggestions-thread/page__pid__1558895#entry1558895

Question:

-Do you consider history buffs/ship lovers to be a target audience, and if so, aside from the lovingly detailed ship models, how do you intend to cater to them?

I am also (see sig) very disappointed that RPF ever made it into this game, despite a lot of feedback trying to discourage that (I checked the forums of the other regions, it was overwhelmingly negative and can't imagine the supertesters were any more enthusiastic). It is one of the reasons I uninstalled the game and stopped playing the game on the live server, only participating on the PTS.

Question:

-Has RPF met or exceeded your expectations? What percentage of active players uses RPF? Has anything changed in your attitude towards this skill?

Great that this picks up speed again! Long may it last :-)

Question: there are some ship enthusiasts like me who are interested in the history of the ships. That said the fantasy refits on the German BBs (T4-6) came as a huge disappointment. Do you plan to also do something to make the ship lovers group a little happy (apart from Koenig Albert)?

Like reworks, premiums, etc? A real Bayern, a real Koenig, etc?

What is a relevant question?

  • Relevant might have been the wrong word to use, of course all questions are relevant to the person who asked them.
  • What I mean is that some questions cannot be answered because they don't follow the restrictions for questions that ca be asked here (see my earlier post) or:
    • We cannot answer due to lack of information
    • We cannot answer because we don't want to disclose the information.

If you don't get an answer for a question, you could simply inform us that you didn't get an answer, possibly including the reason why this is the case, instead of leaving us in the dark about it.

  • I can try, but as I am not the person answering most questions (don't have the answers) it can take a while to receive an answer, even if it is a non-answer. So updating this all is not easy.

1. Understood!

2. A bit baffled that the german sub attracts way more questoins than the "international" one, but understood.

Thank you for trying to revive this thread, but what steps are you taking to keep it living? Is there anything we can do (apart from posting more questions that is :))

Also: Afaik there are apparently several different (language) teams working in Paris to ensure proper communication with the community. Can you give a short headcount to how many that is? I get the impression that the english speaking team is still lacking one or two Com. Coordinators?

Greetings

The Germans are always very vocal and they are a very large community with a shared language. We also include many non-supported languages so the amount of people posting there is sometimes larger.

Thank you for trying to revive this thread, but what steps are you taking to keep it living? Is there anything we can do (apart from posting more questions that is :))

  • We will try to jump in here when we can and forward questions, there is not much more we can do.

Afaik there are apparently several different (language) teams working in Paris to ensure proper communication with the community. Can you give a short headcount to how many that is? I get the impression that the english speaking team is still lacking one or two Com. Coordinators?

  • Currently there are four of us (Ph3lan, Kandly, Sael_ and myself). We cover all our products and are involved in all manner of things, not just forums and social media.

There just doesn't seem to be a point asking questions when the people asking them, and thus try to communicate with Wargaming as a whole, are left in the dark what the company considers relevant. Furthermore, if there are relevant topics / quesions, why wait until those questions are asked and not put them in a Q&A / Dev Blog / Newsletter / whatever in the first place? This whole thing strikes me as extremely inefficient for everybody involved.

I will try to make this more transparent.

Will the Z-23 ever get the gun buff it needs so badly as 10,8 km is a cruel joke considering the other gunboat DD's can shoot over 14km.

Also will the Z-23's 14,5km gun bloom ever get changed?

And when have WG enjoyed collecting enough data to see their massive failure with the Z-23?

In our latest Q&A SubOctavian said that the German DD's from tiers 6-9 are doing OK statistically. But they are also being monitored. The gun bloom will not be changed, it was left intentionally high so a rebalance wasn't necessary with the upcoming removal of stealth firing.

Oh wow somebody in that office of yours is actually still alive

As a follow up on your posts, I have some questions for you:

1. Why didn't you AGAIN answer my previous question regarding events/rewards/eu treatment? YOU personally promised me ages ago it would be "answered in next week's batch".

This is not a topic we can say much about, there will simply always be differences between how the different servers are operated and how events/missions/rewards are structured. I will keep passing on community feedback on these missions, hopefully we can get to a point where we find a compromise. You might be interested in this reddit thread where our producer had a discussion about missions a few days ago.

2. Going by your posts, I can assume the question I mean is not relevant. Why is it not relevant?

That was a poor choice of words on my part, but it was not a question I could provide any kind of satisfactory answer to.

3. What determines if a question is relevant or not?

See an above post.

4. If a question is deemed not relevant, why don't you tell us so? That way we won't have to ask it again and again and again

Because I often don't get the feedback about it myself for a while, I will try to say when questions cannot be answered in future.

5. Why do you pay more attention to a third party website (facebook) than your OFFICIAL forums?

Because we have limited time and need to focus our resources on where our players are most present. That being said we should definitely be more active here and try to do so when time allows.

6. Are you aware not all of your players use facebook?

We are aware of this.

7. Could you have collected question remain visible until the answer is given? That helps us avoid duplicates

That also means that the thread becomes cluttered for people looking for answers. I think we need to find a better organizational solution for the Q&A in general, I am open to suggestions.

8. If you're having Q&As outside of this thread, why do you not post the questions and answeres here?

Because those Q&A's are often not in written form and due to lack of time it isn't always possible to transcribe an hour or two of conversation. Although we do this whenever we can.

9. When will you start improving communications for the EU server/forums as you have promised us many many times?

We are already doing this, but I guess not centered enough around the forums.

10. Why did something as trivial as Pi Day receive it's own special (which was a very nice and fun special), but something as important as the 100th anniversary of Jutland got nothing? And don't say GNB, that was not the celebration of Jutland.

Jutland was indeed planned as part of GNB and one of the reasons for GNB. Pi day was a fun idea someone had so we just went with  it.

11. Why can Russians trade WOT/WOWP gold for WOWS dubloons and we cannot?

I cannot answer this question, but you are free to contact customer support and see if they can do a conversion for you, no promises though.

12. When can we expect the promised gold unification? (pay attention, I only mention gold, not free XP or credits)

We don't have any plans to do this soon, sorry.

13. Why did WG think radio location/position finding/whatever it's called was a necessary addition to the game?

Our devs think that the skill adds another viable option for some ships to the game that mixes gameplay up. So far we have not seen any catastrophic results from the implementation. For the long answer you will have to check out our Facebook Q&A for the relevant patch.

And this time actually answer something from my post instead of just ignoring it.

Done

Here is my question. What are you doing to keep me playing and paying?

The EU missions are a joke and provide no incentive for me to play. The rewards are awful and they are more dependant on luck than playing regularly. The recent ship additions have been dreadful and I already have the tier 10 ships I wanted. WG EU looked like changes may be made after the Christmas disaster but things looks like they have actually got worse. Do you realise how much this annoys your regular paying customers?

We have no plans to keep you specifically playing. Sorry if that sounds harsh, what I mean is that we look at the overall community feedback to determine which direction we go in.

We will however be rolling out more content, keep balancing the game and hopefully have engaging missions and specials to do. For some insight into how we design our missions, check out what our producer had to say on Reddit.

Second question:

Kolberg is a beautiful ship but not very popular among players as she doesn't feel like a big step forward after Dresden.

Can you add the single deck mounted torpedo launchers that were refitted late in the war to give her a little goody?

This is a good example of the non-relevant questions as it is a suggestion, not actually a question.

As for the Kolberg itself, as with all other ships, we make our balancing decisions based on statistics.

Thank you for reviving this!

1. Could we get any info on the CV rework? Not dates or super specifics, but at least some droplets would be nice. The "leaks" suggesting removing the manual drops are worring and unreliable.

2. Any plans for another pemium CV? I know that Graf Zeppelin is planned, but how about the Big E?

The first question should be answered with our recent announcement for 0.6.3 (go give us feedback!)

And unfortunately I am not allowed to make announcements about new ships.

I’ll be honest, I'm sure the silent majority of players for EU are perfectly happy with the content as is, however it should be obvious by now that a growing percentage of players (at-least in the wider community) are feeling disparaged by what can only be described as WG EUs now legendary lack of community engagement which some are now starting to view as disdain towards the player base, I've read more than a few tales of players having stopped playing because of it, and even more that now refuse to spend any money on the game, some are even actively considering moving to NA or ASIA for the foreseeable future.

SO, I guess my question is, do you have any plans, small or large to improve the ongoing relations with your community and potentially restore some good will? Because I assure you it wouldn't take too much effort to see a marked improvement.

I am well aware that I am not present enough on the forums, but I will continue to do my best to be here and answer question as and when my time allows.

Otherwise you will hopefully have noticed the increased Q&A's that we are running on Facebook, Reddit and with our community contributors. The next one will be taking place on Thursday (probably).

Something I'd be interested in is whether it's possible that we could eventually be enabled to watch old replays. Note, this isn't a question of "are you working on this right now?" - I'm wondering whether it is theoretically feasible within the framework of how the engine and replays currently work, so I at least hope it's a question that would be answerable for the devs :)

I kinda happened to keep replays of a few of my "best games" around when I started playing, and these days I kinda would like to take a look back at how potato I used to be :-) So, is there any reason to keep these replays saved in the hope that they may eventually be watchable again, or is that completely impossible due to technical reasons?

We have the same issue with World of Tanks and the answer is no. It would take too long to make old replays compatible and it would require the client to keep assets (like old maps and visuals). What you can do is make a local copy of old versions and use this to watch the replays.

Is Epicenter going to get removed as well (like Zone and Bastion mode it is rather just a test?!) or will it at least be removed from Tears of the Desert, as the center of the map is completely open without any islands and it doesn't contribute to dynamic teamplay?

  • We are currently not looking into removing the mode, it seems to work.

What the hell does the vague phrase ".. it seems to work" mean?

Work? How?

You can see from the threads about it on this forum that it strongly divides opinion.

QUESTION: Will you make the Epicenter battle mode optional please, so that players can opt out of playing it?

TBH I just feel like pressing the ESC key and quitting immediately when I see that I am in one of these battles.  I hate them that much.

Up to now I have done my utmost to try to win when placed into an Epicenter battle, but I don't now how much longer I can bear it.

No. Based on our surveys we know that not everyone disliked the epicenter mode and we want to avoid splitting the player base and increasing queue times.

Is there any plan on highlighting the ship models, which you made in so much detail and with obvious love, in more ways than you do now? I play the game mostly in "first person mode", because you can hear the engine, turret turning, cannons etc better and you beg a better feel of the ship in every way possible, so I personally dream of being able to walk on the ships in first person mode while in the port.

Seeing the ships in bird's eye view is very nice, but even switching between ships doesn't show off thier magestic size and sheer awesomeness. To be able to walk on the deck of the ships you have build, looking at the main cannons from up close, seeing the different harbors from behind the railings of the different ships, it would make ship aficionados like myself have even more to look forward to when researching ships. It would enhance the ports and feelings you got with each ship so dramatically, while from my non-dev perspective, you don't need to modify a lot. I mean, the ship models are so detailed that their quallity should hold up even at the close range the camera would be, right? As would the ports themselves, since you allready build them in so much details. the only things that might be some work would be camera collision and maybe the use of some ladders/stairs. Building ships this detailed, and updating models with adding even finer details to the ships, it feels like a wasted oppertunity not to pursue such an awesome addition and a way to honor the ships in WOWS even more. (By the way, I do appreciate the ship highlight videos you are providing allready very, very much!)

Another way to maybe spruce up the port and show off the ships is show the ships of your division mates in your port too, in maybe a dedicated 1st and 2nd division place. Livens up the port in division mode and shows the different kinds of ships in the division.

This is a great suggestion, but a suggestion none the less. We don't have any plans for this yet and need to prioritize gameplay at the moment. Maybe in the future this is something that can be looked at :)

FukushuNL reminded me of something that I've been thinking of:

Will there ever be a 'bridge' camera view you can switch to? As in, the view from the front of the bridge, not a crewed bridge, because that won't happen because of ratings?

Great suggestion, but not on our list of priorities right now. I imagine it would be hard to play from that perspective and since you would be displaying things on an entirely different scale we would probably need to do a lot of work to make this feasible.

Question 1: when are we going to get a less buggy replay system? The system right now is fine but really uncomfortable to use since it bugs out quite a lot

When it's ready, I have no concrete date.

Question 2: my clan has been sitting at the max amount of members for quite some time so my question is if we can expect the increase of the amount of members/clan soon or is it just a distant dream?

While I cannot give you a date on this, being able to upgrade a clan is on our plan, when its done its done.

Now I am curious what will happen when the announced pan-asian branch comes.

Anyhow I also have this question:

Considering the fact that WoWs has compressed range to make the action more direct and short ranged, are there any plans to modify penetration values accordingly to reflect this as well in order to make armour values, especially on cruisers, more relevant and possibly encourage more aggresive play by battleships? Or has it been tested/considered?

Q2

When will the promised gold/doubloon unification between World of Tanks and World of Warships be implemented?

1st: The penetration values in game weren't chosen to be historically accurate, but to work from a gameplay perspective. We don't want to make cruisers as heavily armored, that is not their role.

2nd: There will be no unification happening any time soon, sorry.

Question.

There is whispers of invisifire being removed. This will nuke DD efficiency in particular that of certain-gun focused line. The community seems not to believe that increasing their range will do much to alleviate the disadvantage, and it is a growing dissadvantage, with the amount of radar, zonars, cv aircraft, spotterplanes, fighters, new intel gathering skills, players wising up to destroyers, ect, ect. Not to mention destroy Grem's crown as the best DD in the game for high skill players. Is there any truth to this, and if so, won't this add tot he dilemma of having too many battleship players?

As you surely know, this is now firmly planned.

Our goal is not to buff battleships, we do however want to remove game mechanics like open water stealth firing that have no counter and are not fun to play against. Most open water stealth play is also not very efficient due to inaccuracy and promotes passive play.

Question about the Chat: You said already we have other Fishes to fry "but" the Questions is about Employes...

I mean, BBV for an Example was in World of Warships since the Closed Beta (CBT) Starts and he got a 2nd Moderator with him. But i want to ask in General, if its possible to have some Moderators for the MainChat (not InGame) who speak at least English and German <- about this: The German Chat (because i am German - so i can understand) is filled with Insults and sometimes it turns into a very bad [i call it here Historical Way] what so ever, this Game needs a ChatModerator. So, does WG Plan to employ some? Thats the short Questions - or could you not take one of the Forum Moderators for the Job?

And about the Q2 of Verdius: You answered the Question on your own, World of Warships and World of Tanks only share the Prem Time - because as you said Dubloons is a Different Prem"Money" then Gold and they said it already in the Closed Beta, it wont be shared between those 2 Games, as far i remember.

If you haven't noticed from the amount of introduction posts, I am happy to inform you that we have drastically increased the number of moderators so we should be able to provide more coverage for all channels in future.

Any time I think WG can't reach deeper you manage to do it. So congratulations I guess.

Why the edited do you have to patch something in every week? It's edited annoying to mod every week. Not just for me, the player but for the modder too. Is this going to be the new standard from now on? Anytime I start the game it updates something?

Seriously guys for the last couple of months you have been going down on the hill. German DDs. Epic Christmas. New patch. Now this. What is gonna be next? Pay anytime I want to start the game? Or you will just delete every class except BBs? When will you reach the bottom?

(I bolded the question I expect you to answer because I know the other questions are meaningless.)

The other questions are good examples of questions that are not really relevant. If the question already assumes the answer then it is not a good question.

As for the patches: We know that mods need to be changed, but to be perfectly honest we cannot adjust our development schedule or plan based on what mods people want to use. That goes with the territory with mods.

1How much value does WG put into player feedback?

If, say, WG want to implement X, but 75% of the testers(players) give negative feedback. Does WG reconsider? Has this ever happened in the past?

2Do they read their own forums/play their own game?

There is no fixed percentage. Decisions are always weighed up against player feedback and often plans are adjusted. An important thing to bear in mind is that this forum is not at all representative of the overall community, as it is only a small portion of it.

Do we read and play? Of course. Should we be doing it more? Probably, but we do what we can.

I know this isn't supposed to be a discussion thread, but I still want to correct you here. It was promised, see this thread: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/59807-no-gold-unification-forthcoming-its-official/

It's filled with 'evidence' of the promise.

To add an actual question to the post to make it on-topic:

Seeing that it has been a week since this announcement, is it safe to assume that all our questions have been forwarded? And do you have an ETA on the answers? (not an exact date of course, but a general idea. Are we talking days? Weeks? Months? Just a rough estimate)

I will come here once a week and clean up. Many questions I can answer myself, as you see. Any more complex questions or ones that I don't know the answer to will be forwarded.

Turnaround will never be particularly fast here, which is why we like Live Q&A's.

After seeing Flamu's Q&A with Sub_Octavian; It was made clear at 35:29 in the Q&A that WG's focus on the German DD line is on the 128mm gun option, and any questions about range a buff to the Z-23 150mm guns was shot down immediately, so my new question is:

Could you ask WG to please put the Z-46's dual 128mm gun turret on the Z-23 as the as part of the B-hull upgrade? As the stock 4x 128mm setup on the Z-23 forces you to use the 150mm gun option and the 150mm guns only have a range of 10.8 km while the 128mm can be buffed with AFT. Also another reason to do this is that the tier 7 L.Maass have 5x 128mm while the Z-23 only have 4x 128mm which makes no sense at all.

That is again a suggestion and this is not the place for these, sorry.

Despite several question marks, this is essentially one topic.

Do future plans for WG-EU include even less incentives to bring new players to the server or to keep the old ones happy?

(If you can't answer even that, then I'm pretty sure what the complete answer looks like)

No

Where do I come from with this question?

- Weekly missions and their rewards, while sounding nice on the drawing board are only something for the elite few. Whoever is not part of this elusive club will only get very few extra rewards and will at one point no longer bother with those missions or become so frustrated about them that s/he stops playing. WG-EU doesn't seem to care about that.

- Weekends used to provide double or triple XP on first victory in combination with some special missions for active players. It has recently been reduced to either a double XP weekend or a special mission with very low rewards. Both with added options to spend money. There is no real incentive in those "special events" for players to spend their weekend on the game. WG-EU doesn't seem to care about that, as long as they can advertise options to spend money/doubloons along with those "special events".

Are your players of any concern to WG-EU decision makers and event planners, or are you content with the whales who spend money no matter how bad they are treated?

Yes

Is that a relevant question for WG-EU or this thread, or is your players happiness not relevant?

Not in this way and of course it is.

If you ask your questions in this way, you can't expect much of an answer to be honest.

Why don't you sell flags on EU like on other servers?

Good question, will forward.

Why can't we buy flags ingame?

Same question as above.

Why can't you operate this Q&A?

Not a good question, because if we couldn't operate it you would never get an answer to it ;)

Why do you hate your own players?

They ask too many questions

Why do you prefer BB camping and BB meta?

Counter question: Why don't you like cheese?

Fine you removing stealth fire even MM is broken for months and you not even trying to fix it.

  1. The sissue is not that you removing stealth fire, the issue is that there are at least 4+bb's per team and there is no iland's to hide behind (maps are to open). So Why would players even consider playing crusiers over bb's or dd's?
    1. Most cruisers didn't have stealth firing before the update and still don't have it now.
  2. So what mechanic will you implament insted of stealthfire. cuz 5sec in my bb it is all i need to delete a crusier! I don't need full 20 sec of bloom, also if dd even think about fireing guns agains rusian dd he's a gonner. Rusian dd need 15 sec of bloom to delete him! So what mechaninc will you implemnat?
    1. We will watch the situation and see if anything is needed, we don't think so.
  3. Will you revork the maps so we have more iland's to stealh fire cuz on this maps there isn't any!!! map for tir 5 woork beatter then for tir 10. why on small mpas where even ijn crusier can shoot over all map keep beeing used for battel on tir 7-9?
    1. We have maps with lots of cover and some without, some small and some big, we want variety. And while we will be adding more maps they probably won't be full of as much cover as you want.
  4. How to play higer tir's without stealth fires, and ilands? cuz if you not in bb and you are spoted you gonna get insta deleted???
    1. Most ships can't stealth fire now and are fine, when you do stealth fire you also usually don't hit much (Zao excluded).
  5. So what will you do regard growing bb population? The people probably swiching cuz WG just keep spoiling them.
    1. We're watching the situation.
  6. will you put limit in machmaking max 3 bb's per team and max 1 CV per team?
    1. No, we don't want to implement artificial limits at this time.
  7. when wll you fix MM, what are you planing on that regard? Cuz tir 5-6 fo new players is a nightmare it's not evene fun for sesoned veterans!
    1. Again, we are watching this situation.
  8. so you removed stealthfire what will you give to Mogami, chappy, ibuki cuz if there is no stealthfire and no ilands to hide behind thouse crusiers not gonna live to long. when 4+bb's are fire in at you and 1 is more then sutible to delete? So why we would play thouse crusiers in curanent state?
    1. See above
  9. will you adress map's being to open, will you reworke the maps?
    1. See above
  10. How CV tir 6 can go against tir 8 ships? I'm not CV player but when i see them i'm so sorry for them cuz my benson droping lanes like flies!
    1. Pick your targets and go after lower tier ships or ones with less AA
  11. you say this is not a nurff can you axplain that? cuz exept Rusian dd who are allways spoted and bb's it's a nurf to all other lines! If this is not a nurff what it is???
    1. This change will not affect most ships as they couldn't or didn't stealth fire before.

TY, sorry if my speling not good english not my first languge.

Could you please explain the thinking behind the detonation mechanic?

Ever since it's introduction it seems to be disliked by the majority of players, a fact not helped by it's effectively random nature.

Are there any plans to rework it to be less dependent on RNG or even to remove it entirely (please).

Great question, forwarded.

I'll break this down into four parts:

  1. what percentage of games do you think are one-sided "steamroller" games;
  2. have there been any trends in the percentage over the last six months;
  3. what definition of one-sided have you used in calculating that statistic;
  4. do you think that percentage of one-sided games is acceptable or good/bad for the game?

Interesting question. Forwarded but I cannot guarantee that I can release this data.

Would you consider making control of secondaries and antiair more active. Not full control but some sort of minigame like aiming your guns at the target to increase damage. That would allow players to choose between fully effective secondaries/aa and firing their main guns at full speed.

This is not for suggestions.

This thread is about my question: https://www.reddit.com/r/WorldOfWarships/comments/61pkih/lets_talk_about_no_damage_turret_penetrations/

1) Why do main turrets, some of the most armoured and critical areas of a warship, not get 33% penetration damage when penetrated? (Details in thread)

2) Are there plans to fix this?

3) If there are no plans to fix it, why not?

4) Is WG aware that the fix would noticeably reduce the effectiveness of bow on camping, that many consider to be frustrating gameplay especially at higher tiers?

Good question, forwarded.

If you ask your questions in this way, you can't expect much of an answer to be honest.

Ok... how do you want me to rephrase it so that it will recieve one?

You can't deny that the weekend specials on the EU-Server have been cut down on rewards. You can't deny that the weekly missions are not much liked by the community and that they are often purely luck based. You can't deny that, from the looks of it, WG-EU does everything in their power to reduce the incentives for random and casual players and that this is an ongoing process. A simple comparison between the past and the present makes this very obvious. It is an observable fact.

What we players do not know is the reason why you do this. WG-EU repeatedly promised us better communication, so please tell us the reason why you are doing this. We might understand it.

Sorry, I'm sometime not seeing messages in red on my default browser (not sure why yet, as all other colors work fine). Tried a different one and so saw your very short answer. A more elaborate one would still be very welcome. And answering a question with an "or" in it for several options with a simple "yes" isn't exactly an answer. :smart_fish:

Great that this picks up speed again! Long may it last :-)

Question: there are some ship enthusiasts like me who are interested in the history of the ships. That said the fantasy refits on the German BBs (T4-6) came as a huge disappointment. Do you plan to also do something to make the ship lovers group a little happy (apart from Koenig Albert)?

Like reworks, premiums, etc? A real Bayern, a real Koenig, etc?

We can't announce any ships here, sorry.

A quick question from me too: any chance we can see division achievements (Crucial contribution, Brother in arms) anytime soon? I posted about that here. :)

Good question, forwarded.

As an added bonus: Here is the Q&A we hosted with Flamu last week:

As an added added bonus, here is a (very rough and full of mistakes (maybe)) transscript of what we talked about. For the full experience just listen to it.

UI

  • Clan Tag: Visibility of names in battle, name tags are cut off.
    • No immediate plans to fix – UI gets improved in „packages“, but we hear the feedback.

  • Any chance of reworking the in-game radio communications to include more radio messages – i.e. warnings for torpedoes?
    • Its challenging to design a system that players really use and is helpful. We might be introducing something in summer and are still collecting feedback.

  • Blacklisted players can still spam you with division invites, muted and ignored players can still spam ingame commands (a common troll tactic). What about the ability to appear offline?
    • We will look into it.

  • The port UI in its current state is a really bad experience. It feels laggy, every action takes seconds to load, many actions in a row can even freeze the client, requiring a restart.
    • We are already working on optimizing the port experience and performance increases are our highest priority here.

Competitive, clan

  • n the future, will it be possible to choose where you spawn in training rooms?
    • Training rooms are not enabled by default because they do still have issues and are not at the quality level we want. We are working on it and might consider choosing spawns – no promises.

  • Talking about training rooms, when are they going to become an actual part of the client?
    • We are not ready to talk about a date yet.\

  • When will we see an expansion of the clan system in terms of slots for players?
    • The option to expand a clan is connected to next step in clan development
    • Four steps are planned:
      • Social functionality (what we have now)
      • Casual clan gameplay (without much competition)
      • Competitive combat
      • Clan metagaming

  • When will we see clan battles?
    • We will be implementing this sometime in the future. But we want clans to be for all kinds of players, not just the competitive hard-core, which is why we are working on social features first.

  • What is our opinion about season 6 considering that many players are complaining about the heavy importance of premium ships?
    • It was a controversial season, Sub_Octavian thinks there was not enough brawling and players were too careful. Preliminary stats however say that it was the most popular season so far, but we are still analysing.

Balance

  • Any plans to modify the special modules that can only be obtained through ranked or supercontainers? Most players see these consumable as worthless with a few exceptions.
    • We are still looking into this and need more feedback and analysis.

  • Many people see the entire removal of stealth fire as one massive BB buff. Is it?
    • Our goal is not to buff battleships, we do however want to remove game mechanics like open water stealth firing that have no counter and are not fun to play against. Most open water stealth play is also not very efficient due to inaccuracy and promotes passive play.
    • Three groups of players are unhappy:
      • People who are stealth firing are upset because they need to learn how to get closer
      • People who don’t do it often are still affected due to the gun bloom
      • Some people are upset about specific ships now being nerfed. We will look into these and buff them if necessary, but are still looking at feedback.
    • Will ships that used stealth firing get buffed to compensate?
      • Blyskawica - pretty good even without stealthfire.
      • Zao – is currently too powerful anyway.
      • Akizuki – her range will be increased to compensate.
      • Right now researching PTS feedback

  • With the removal of open seas stealth fire, what will you do to encourage DD players to make use of their guns?
    • We’re still looking into it.

  • When undetected firing is limited to firing from behind cover or inside smoke, the German destroyers are at a distinct disadvantage because of their inexplicably short smoke duration. They also cannot reliably fire from range like Russian DDs as they are too easy to land shells on. Any plans on changing that?
    • As we knew we would be removing stealth fire, we specifically did not give them the ability to do so.
    • The Z-52 is already being buffed in 0.6.3 with better concealment.
    • The low-tier DD’s, as well as tiers VI-IX are doing well statistically.
    • The T-22 is debatable, we’re looking at it.

  • Germans suffer especially heavily at T8, the tier where most competitive gameplay happens. Any plans to look at the German ship performances and perhaps improve them?
    • We’ll look into it. However bear in mind that currently balance is done mostly for Random PvP battles – we do not balance ships for Ranked. In more competitive game modes, optimal ships / builds are often specialist and all-rounders are less popular. In Randoms the German Tier VII/VIII cruisers do not seem to be doing bad.

  • With the new stealth fire nerf, some cruisers have a shooting concealment penalty that is worse than some battleships. As someone who plays all the ships, that does not make much sense to me. Have you considered alternative approaches to detection increases, like lets say a proper "bloom", where your detection range sits at max range for like, 5 seconds, and then starts reducing linearly to your normal detection range. Bloom differing depending on class and so forth. Or alternatively a class based timer for when the firing debuff disappears? Like DD 7s, CL/CA 12s and BB 20s before they restealth after firing?
    • The penalty of 20 seconds is designed to keep ships from popping up and disappearing all the time, this would be weird.
    • 20 seconds mean that all players can understand the penalty easily.
    • We might think about an increase for battleships.

  • Shimakaze, as much as I love it, suffers quite heavily in the current meta. My personal solution would be giving it better stealth, for example around 5.4 or so to allow it to actually outspot its competition, as it can not outgun any T10 in the game and the torps are too easily dodgeable to be usable in a knife-fight.
    • We don’t think F3’s are easy to dodge and currently Shimakaze is the second best performing ship. It also has the highest flooding chance and is was buffed in 0.6.3 with better firing range. We will look into it however, as players’ performance on the ship is very inconsistent.
    • EU stats for 0.6.2
      • Avg. Damage: 132k Gearing, 133k Shimakaze, Fletcher 140k

  • Are the devs satisfied with the current T10 cruiser balance? For example the Hindenburg has the lowest winrate and lowest average XP by a large margin, is this something you plan on addressing or are you satisfied with the current situation?
    • The biggest problem right now is Zao, she is good at everything.
    • Stats don’t show any big issues though, we will look at it again after 0.6.3

Carriers

  • With the removal of Alt attacks for CVs on T4-5, those ships will inflict a lot less damage even in capable hands, I assume that's why it's added, to prevent sealclubbing. However, will these CVs in particular be compensated otherwise? As clearly they will be a lot weaker now. Also do you not fear this will deter new players from advancing in this parcular line of ships as the gameplay is simplified to such an incredible degree?
    • These changes are made to make current CVs better and are not a real rework yet, just fixes for the current bad situation. This will hopefully be addressed with a general carrier rework.
      • US bombers need a better automatic attack.
      • Japanese are fine as they are right now
    • The biggest challenge is to create a learning curve that doesn’t discourage new players and to teach players how to play carriers in game without allowing sealclubbing of low-tier ships.

  • Will Tier V CV’s have protected MM?
    • Not planned, should not be needed as there will always be a balance with carriers. If the enemy team has a tier VI CV, your team will have one as well.
      • We will however watch the situation.

  • Why does Saipan not lose planes when strafing out of a dogfight? Why Saipan loses no planes?
    • Due to the very low number of planes (3 per squadron) this would cripple Saipan.

  • What is Wargamings vision for CVs in this game, beyond 0.6.3?
    • Some ideas, nothing definite:
      • Being able to replenish planes in battle
      • Universal attack with variable difficulty instead of auto / manual
      • AA mechanics – very black and white right now
      • Better balanced loadouts

Other

  • How satisfied are the devs with the new skilltree? Any changes there in the near future? I will mention that I personally really enjoy the new skilltree, disclaimer, except for RPF, there's less need to grind a cumbersome 15p captain for that mandatory CE and there's much greater variety in viable builds.
    • We are very happy with the changes despite the initial outrage over the RPF skill, as we expected it is not having as much of an impact as many players thought.

  • In World of Tanks, players have the option to select/deselect which battle modes they want to engage in - why can't Warships implement this same system. Many players dislike the Epicenter and Bastion game modes you've experimented with and would prefer to just play Domination. Many, like me, dislike the passive standard battle game mode, will we ever have the option to avoid them?
    • We are not planning any changes here as all of the game modes have players that really enjoy them and splitting the player base up would be bad for the matchmaker and queue times.

  • Epicenter – this mode seems to be very map dependant, with the worst case being the Tears of the Desert with huge open space in the middle.
    • While there are improvements planned for the future, we do not plan removing the mode.
    • Overall it seems that Standard battles are less popular than the Epicenter.
    • Popularity measured not only in forum (hardcore) feedback, but also from surveys.

  • Is there a possibility of reconsidering the addition of another consumable slot for Cruisers to better maximize their versatility? As picking between Hydro over Def AA or vice versa is not as straightforward given the RNG-ish nature of MM where a CV is available or not thus nullifying the viability of Def AA.
    • The same can be said for CV’s and their loadouts. We are trying to make all builds viable and would like to see a CV in each battle to make them relevant.

  • Are there any plans to incentivise teamplay in random battles more? I.e. rewards for smoking allies, radaring/spotting for allies, providing defensive AA for allies?
    • Blocking caps and tanking is already taken into account, just not shown in the results. This is however something we are looking into in general.

  • Will the current campaigns be ended when new ones begin? Any plans on new ones? People who are not moving along very fast, as well as people who have long since completed them would like to know.
    • The current campaigns will stay as permanent ones, the Shinonome especially is popular. We would like the new player campaign to be more educational that it is now and are working on a new tutorial to teach players more skills.

  • Kitakami has been spotted both in trailers and in recent patch notes, is the ship making a glorious return?

  • Any additional information regarding the High School Fleet collaboration mentioned by WG Japan?
    • No news yet

  • Finally, any plans of new game types? Even though Bastion wasn't that well received and Epicenter hasn't exactly captured our hearts, us players do love new modes to try.
    • We are currently testing some cooperative PVE game modes internally.

See you next week!

In regards to fire chance; me and a friend have been testing Akizuki setups and noticed that an IFHE build has almost the double the chance to set a fire per %-age of fire chance than a non-IFHE build. This increase also correlates somewhat to the higher damage per HE shell done by IFHE, which would indicate that HE shells penetrating instead of shattering actually had something to do with it. Now, I have three possible solutions to this, and wonder which of them if any that could be true.

1. There is another modifier, if a shell penetrates or shatters, which affects fire chance

2. Fire chance isn't linear, so even though a higher %-age should give you more fires per percentage of fire chance, it doesn't

3. It is all a statistical anomaly. Even though we based our data on a couple of ten thousand hits, and that the difference is too great to be explained by potential tier differences as well as IFHE registering more fires even though we fired HE all the time with that setup which should give us the reversed result (due to actually firing HE on fully burning targets), it's all a statistical anomaly and the fire chance doesn't take into calculation if you penetrate or shatter a shell.

Thanks in advance :)

So what will you do regard growing bb population? The people probably swiching cuz WG just keep spoiling them.

  1. We're watching the Situation.

In September 2016 -when talking about the (cancelled) bow armour changes for BBs - a developer stated that BB population has grown to proportions, that negatively influence the game (!). Since then BBs have increased in strength.
Now (more than 6 Months later!) all you do (according to your statement) is "watching the Situation".

So the questions are:
1. What are you waiting for?
2. When will you act?
3. Do you have any plans other than watching? If yes: what are they?

Since my previous post disappeared, I will post a revised version.
Thank you for answering my question, which was:
Will you make the Epicenter battle mode optional please, so that players can opt out of playing it?

And your answer was:
No. Based on our surveys we know that not everyone disliked the epicenter mode and we want to avoid splitting the player base and increasing queue times.

My response to your answer is:
I am sorry to hear that. Up to now I done my level best in Epicenter mode battles even though I find the experience of playing them irritating and massively unenjoyable.
I will think of a new approach to cope with them - which Wargaming may not like.
However I am the customer, and the first rule of business is "The customer is always right".

Sorry, this thread is a dedicated Q&A thread, thus all posts that are not a question are removed immediately and all questions are removed when they are answered.

We cannot condone suiciding in a battle just because you don't like the game mode and if players report you for it, you risk being suspended for not participating.

OK then, I'll give you a question, and one whose subject has been the topic of threads in the Gameplay section (though not raised be me) and considerable discussion.

QUESTION: What percentage of ships are AFK in random battles, broken down by tier and game mode?

Thank You.

Respect to you for answering the questions including my own. My point is however that If you looked at the overall community feedback and responded accordingly THAT would be enough to keep me playing/paying, I don't need special treatment.

Questions eh?

Sure.

When will you admit the Belfast is completely OP, and turned the ranked season into Pay-2-win, and a smokefest?

What will you do to rebalance the Belfast, instead of this stealthfire removal?

When will you remove RPF from the game?

When can we expect missions similar to what USA has been getting the past months?

What is the reason to keep pissing of the playerbase with the crappy EU missions anyway?

Beware, huge wall of text incoming as I had nothing useful to do and have strong feelings about this game.

I know this is a Q&A thread and you won't like my post because it's not really questions. But I'm still gonna post it because I want you to read this and I don't want to start a new topic just because I want to tell you something. I'm also not gonna PM you because this should be public and I think (and would understand) that you receive so many PMs that you would just ignore me. Feel free to delete it after you read it, but I would appreciate it if you left it there for some time (maybe until next batch of answers arrives and you clean up anyways).

So, first point: thank you for replying the way you did. I realise I'm often giving you quite a hard time, and I appreciate the effort you put in answering every question in that big post of mine. :medal:

At this point I would also like to say that you should not take my frustration too personally. I know I can be an *sshole sometimes, but nothing of that is aimed at you or your collegues personally. It's merely aimed at WG EU as a company. Look at it from the bright side, the amount of frustration I show just means I'm very passionate about the game and even WG :)

Done

At this point I would like to give some feedback to some of the questions and answers.

Regarding question 1: fine, I'll drop that question since I'm not gonna keep beating a dead horse. Your answer is still a bit off, since I wasn't talking about weekly missions (they didn't exist when I first asked it), but things like anniversary events and such. But for the sake of constructiveness I'll shut up about that

Regarding question 2, 3 and 4: thanks for answering. Those were rather cynical questions (I'm a very cynical person in case you haven't noticed yet :aqua:), but I appreciate your honest answer. Again, I know I'm very harsh most of the time, but I try not to be too unreasonable. It's also some kind of national flavour of the Dutch to be very direct :hiding:

Regarding question 5 and 6: I of course have no idea about activity on facebook and reddit, but to me it feels odd that the official forums are sometimes so deserted. I sometimes feel neglected here, and it doesn't help to see topics come up about reddit and facebook Q&As.

Question 7: Orkel's question is a good example. You said you would forward the question, but you still left it there. This way that question won't be asked again, you gave us the feedback of forwarding it, and I think the red bar left of your posts indicates answers well enough to not worry about clutter. Orkel's post could of course be deleted when the answer arrives, you would just be cleaning up a little later. Again, at least I personally think that the red bar besides the answer-containing posts to prevent too much confusion and clutter.

Question 8: I can understand that in the case of facebook. But there's also reddit. I will admit that it's also a bit of my own fault for not reading reddit since that's perfectly possible without an account, but since it's written anyways, I would hugely appreciate it if it could be pasted here (although many people are already doing exactly that in the info from RU thread).

Question 10: I think GNB has received enough feedback at that time. I do want to stress again that this question was not a complaint about Pi day (I think it was very nice, and as an engineer I appreciate the importance of pi), but a kind of sarcastic way to poke about GNB again. Which is why I appreciate the answer even more.

Question 11: you say "I cannot answer that question", do you mean that as "I, MrConway, do not have that knowledge", or was it more a manner of speach? What I mean is, was this your own answer or were you told this? If this was your own answer, could you forward the question to somebody that made that decision and may be able to answer? (I will also post this as a separate post in this topic in case you do decide to delete this).

Question 13: the cynic in me wants to point out that I cannot read the facebook Q&A because I have no facebook account. But I think there are already enough threads for that skill on this forum, so maybe it's best to let it rest.

That was my very cynical way of poking you to collect questions and provide answers. I'm glad you didn't bite and provided a decent and honest answer. I'm also happy to see that you typed "interesting question, forwarded" in many answer posts. Now we know they are in progress instead of being ignored :great:

For me it doesn't have to be that fast. I don't mind waiting a month, but before the revival it was just too long a wait, and there was not much indication. If you say it takes a month, I will gladly wait a month. What went wrong last time was that you guys said it would take a week/two weeks, but it took 3 or 4 months, eventually even longer.

I understand where you are coming from here, but honestly, how many times have we asked such questions in a more polite manner? Are you really surprised we are starting to get a little frustrated?

I don't want to speak for Egoleter, but in my opinion I feel neglected by you guys (as a team/company, not personally!) because there is no communication about things that matter. I realise that may be the policy given to you by your bosses, but we all care for the game and want it to succeed. But we (or I at least) often feel ignored and even an unwanted presence by you guys.

It shouldn't take a proper riot to get the Christmas Convoy, or the Kamikaze R not-lottery. Those things should be logical from the start, and even if you decide to do it differently, take feedback to heart and change it, instead of ignoring us and letting the riot brew until it becomes so strong you HAVE to change. Right now it was the case of "the rage is so strong we must change". It would give you so much more credibility if you said "ok we heard you and we want to change". Don't wait two weeks for the anger to build up, wait one or two days and change it while everybody (or at least most people) are still thinking rational. You would take away so much of our frustration with you guys.

Huge off topic post. I'm very sorry :hiding:

As I said, feel free to read and then delete it, but I wanted you to read it so you know I (and I think the majority of the community) feel passionate about this game and want to give you feedback. You just have to do something with it. And answering here in the way you did today is in my opinion a small first step, but an important and appreciated first step indeed :honoring:

P.s. also feel free to provide feedback on this post. I'd like to know your thoughts about some points I raised. Could also be in PM if you really don't want to clutter the thread ;)

Well here is a question for WG: Why are you shooting down so many good ideas with the excuse of not wanting to increase queue times? For me, queue times are pretty much always instant regardless of what time of day I play at, if anything they are too fast in that they don't allow me to correct a mistake I might have made before clicking battle and noticed right after. And I would really not mind even waiting up to a minute or two if that would allow me to not have to play a game mode I don't like or a better matchmaking. Or is the average braindead BB potato who you seem to shape the entire game for going to cry a river when he sits longer than a split second in the queue while failing his way up to tier 10?

Question:

What is the reasoning behind pricing of premium ships? Why is for example the Prinz Eugen (€40,10) more expensive than the Atago (€39,12), which in turn is more expensive than the Kutuzov (€37,60), despite all being tier 8 premium cruisers?

Saipan and Scharnhorst are both tier 7 and the same price (€35,15), but then Atlanta is €33,50, Belfast is €30,80, and Indianapolis is €28,48, while Leningrad is nearly €15,- cheaper than Scharnhorst at €20,80 despite all of these being tier 7 as well (and most of them the same ship type as well). Or Dunkerque being ~€5,- (or ~20%) cheaper than the other tier 6 premium battleships Warspite and Arizona (and being about as much as tier 5 battleship Texas). Why are some ships more expensive?
