kill 'em all! (pausing the score counter...)

there's a very frequent occurrance that i find quite annoying... someone (a carrier, 99% of the times) hides in the farthest corner of the map. he gets spotted and fired upon like there's no tomorrow... and - a step from his due punishment - the battle ends. that guy goes back to port a victor, in his own little way.

why?

would it not be cool if the last section of the score counter just paused when there's some fighting going on? fleeing to win by points when time's almost over is a perfectly legit way to end a game, but i think it's definitely unfair to allow carr... ehm... cowards to end lost battles alive when the result is already clear (950 vs 300, for example)

yeah,,,  lets do it for stealth DD's well,  that way they can carry on sinking ships that chase them and win the game

hmm no,  if you survived a game you survived, lose or win,  the game ain't about killing all, its getting the objective. what if that carrier killed the last players, what than, you will lose and cry that he soloed 4-5 ships, and turned a loss around

he would have completely deserved to survive and win, then. i have still got to see a carrier able to solo 5 ships while cornered by 40 guns, by the way...

it's all about making the game more fun, y'know.

battles to last blood are much more fun and memorable than those aborts that end with 26 ships still in game because some sneaky idiot caps alone on minute 2. seeing carriers ALWAYS escaping and ending games alive even if on fire, even if half the opposing team is firing at them, is a bit unnerving.

a referee doesn't end a football match when the game's in progress near the goal... some similar mechanism should be introduced here too, in my opinion.

If a 'sneaky idiot DD' caps alone for 2 minutes with 26 ships still alive then there are 13 complete idiots also in the game. :sceptic:

So basically this is also a "I hate Carriers" thread in disguise.

If you fail to kill the last ship regardless of what ship it is, it deserves to survive. "But it takes too long to get to the other side of the map!" you might say, well in that case you should have started hunting for it sooner.

so basically this is a totally unnedeed preemptive carrier defense reply, not really on topic.

if that ship is too far because it spent the whole game hiding, regarding of ship class, it deserves to be sunk.

there's a lot of stuff to do in the game besides hunting for hidden heroes. so it's highly unadvisable to do it "sooner", as you said.

P.S. - not my fault if you like carriers and if that particular class of ships is the only one able to hide in a corner for 15 minutes without any negative consequence. my thread applies to BBs too.

Calling carriers "cowards" because of how that class is designed is a bit silly, don't you think?

And if you can read the flow of battle it is entirely possible to hunt down that last ship before the time runs out.

I propose a 5 min buffer time from the start of the game where all ships can't sail within 8km of the map border. That way potatos won't spend 10 min of the game sailing by the border, do jack crapand then complain about being unable to kill stuff or there isn't enough time or domination end fast cause the enemy team capped while they sail to the ends of the earth instead of helping their team :)

Are you from that tank game by any chance?

Play for the objective = win. It's a hard concept to grasp, I know.

are you from that crap game with the word "thunder" in its name, by any chance?

play for whatever = fun.

it's a bloody difficult concept to grasp, apparently.

is going the opposite way than were stuff happens your idea of fun? if i play a game about ships with huge guns, my idea of fun is wrecking stuff. that, by the way, is quite my same idea of fun when i play games about tanks with huge guns or planes with huge machineguns, or anything designed to destroy stuff. duh.

the moment they'll do a game about running, and if for some weird reason i'should play it, i'll run and hide as far as i can.

the IQ is strong with this one.

we are talking exactly of the same thing.

about players who're losing the game, doing nothing, hiding and running away. sinking them would be more fun that watching them survive.

that's all.

i don't know why you guys are taking this thing personally,. maybe that's your favourite losing "tactic", but i would not be so proud of it.

No not really.

But thanks for confirming my suspicions.

always glad not to disappoint.

if your suspicions were about the fact that in my 40 years of life i've played/play other games that was an easy guess, but i won't spoil your little certainties.

oh, it's my turn to play sherlock, now.

you play carriers a lot. and have a survival rate above 85%. did i get it right? am i a cute little investigator, dad?

Given your IQ I'm actually kinda suprised you didn't realise we're actually talking about 2 different stuff. Well a slight disagreement on finer points though since its actually usually BBs,CAs and the odd DDs for me that do nothing in matches.

i'll try again, because there's a lot of smart people.

team A is winning. team B can't avoid it because bases are captured, there are 8 ships against 1 and the counter is somewhere near 900 vs 200.

game lost.

got it?

now, the guy in team B is running away. he's taking fire and will sink in seconds, but the counter clicks, clicks...

950, 20k HP

980, 10k HP

990, 7k HP...

VICTORY!

and the guy goes home alive.

that's got nothing to do with DDs that go astray or to BBs that camp or with CAs that go afk and tactics and illuminati and russian bias and random stuff.

that guy could be sunk, giving the victors some more rewards, if that counter simply stopped for a while.

you can suicide in other games and deny that kill, but you have penalties. here you just can flee and be rewarded with less repair expenses. i don't find it really fair.

it's somewhat more clear?

I do not think that is a good idea. There is plenty of time as it is to sink other players to your heart's content. No sense wasting people's time by chasing folks whom you dislike due to the very nature of the vessel they play.

I think it is a matter of attitude. You hate them and want to get their "due punishment". Waste of energy. You already won remember? Just cherish that fuzzy feeling inside.

Cheers, M

You want all enemy ships sunk? Play better and get to the target faster. Easy peasy.

I had. It is not nearly as cool as you think it is. Just as your answer is not nearly as witty as you suppose it to be.

I'll put it a bit more straightforward: Your idea stinks. Stop whining and take it like a man.

Cheers,

M
