Hardly a surprise, just encountered in a battle one of the "testers" in a new french TX BB. He yoloed into the cap at full speed against half our team. Was dead even before the torps reached him. Now surely the ship will be buffed after excessive tests by the WG testing team because of too low survivability...

Is it just me but don't the year 2019 promise to be a wonders year.

If you look at all the announcements and rumors you get an believable year.

Let see what we will get for end 2018/2019 so far:

- Reworked CV-play

- Release of RN CVs with the release of reworked CV-play

- Submarines. So that means we will get at least 1 submarine tech-tree. My guess the Germans.

- New game play to hunt subs

- Russian BB-line

- Italian  tech-tree line

- First Dutch ship

- First Austria-Hungarian ship

2019 will be a hell of a year even  if only 1/2 is true. :cap_fainting:

And nothing can go wrong with so much new/changed staff, can it?

Pretty sure the game is in hands of game-professionals  and not in hands of random people picked from the street.

Second half are pretty conservative things, first half is the radical stuff. But yeah.

Are you sure about that?

Have you reason to believe they aren't? SO far that I know games don't grow on trees? Somebody has to make it. In in this case it's the WOWs devs. Don't you like the game so far?

WG just keeps on confirming that the average player is just helpless.

Absolutely helpless.

" jesus christ how do those people remember to breath every few seconds" levels of helpless.

Just get it over with and have WoWs be a railshooter game.

Loved it. But dumbing down it every patch has changed it to "like it" for now.

It's a nice game, but the recent announcement have made me cautious about investing further into what becomes an ever more broken, mindless and eventually frustrating experience. And if you look at things like player retention rates, people don't quit after an average of 3 months because "where's da subz?" or CVs are ruining their every game given running into a truely competent CV captain is a rare occurance. And that we need to release stupid lines and premiums with very questionable design and add submarines, because "we are running out of content" says a lot about the priority of fixing the core gameplay vs just flooding people with crap in the hope they will stay too excited to realise that a Daring will still just be as likely to eat 10k from a single AP pen as any other T10 DD and it will still tilt you off when it happens. There are games that actually are playable for decades and their communities keep at it, because the core gameplay is fun and balanced, but WoWS...

personally i see the unification of Hydro and Smoke as a clean up exercise for the code, there are 25 Hydro's currently in the game, this would cut them down to about 10. (...)

This is what it is, really - problem is that it can have relatively far-reaching consequences...

You don't even have to think anymore. By the end of next year even a chimpanzee could play this game and top the tables...

Personally, as a DD main, I won't miss the TORPEDO ALERT over another salvo of deep water torps that "spawn" right next to me and give me a slight palpitation. Also, I won't really miss the missed salvoes when an ally DD suddenly torps behind me, in a place where the torps pose no threat to me even if I wanted to catch me - but still, I hear the warning and start frantically looking around to see if I need to try and dodge something...

Really, I get many of the "dumbing down" complaints, but whining about obvious QoL improvement meant so that you don't get flooded with false torpedo warnings? Really?

I think torpedo warning should be taken out of the game altogether.

Learn to pay attention.

They should do it for a day (April 1st, maybe) - the results would be glorious (speaking as an enthusiastic DD driver)...

Random thought: torpedoes are permanently visible, but in return remove torpedo warning and torpedo icon. That way torps can be seen only for their wake. Then reduce wake for IJN torps because oxygen and stuff.

:cap_hmm:

...and then comes the common visual bug where torps sometimes don't seem to have a f*cking wake at all (well, they do have some of it but most effects are missing) and I can hardly gauge their movement even with the markers. It would be so much fun to encounter something like this with no markers present :Smile-_tongue:

More seriously - not possible due to various balancing issues (DWTs, what are these when every torp is permaspotted?) and the fact that various cheatmodes (restoring the markers, for starters) would be all too easy to create...

How about no markers until someone 'F3's' the torp wakes they see? You know, like 'attention to enemy torps' then the icon shows above them and stays above them for the rest of their path!? Probably wouldn't resolve the cheatmodes of course! Adds a whole new dimension to spotting/screening for torps :fish_nerv:

Vanguard has huge exposed citadel and 32 mm armour everywhere. The firing angle is kinda bad too, 44 deg to broadside

Vanguard has come straight from the 3D modellers with stock values, I'd ignore the version we haven right now. God knows why they even test stuff like this ...unless the plan has always been to drop it to tier 7 like Z-39.

Dear players!

We have noticed some confusion regarding changes of the Hydroacoustic Search consumable.

We would like to clear the air by telling you exactly how this change is to be implemented.

...

Here is the list of ships with changed Hydroacoustic Search:

5.5 km for ship detection range and 3.75 km for torpedoes detection range - Karlsruhe, Konigsberg, Nurnberg, Yorck, Graf Spee and Lo Yang.

6 km for ship detection range and 4 km for torpedoes detection range - Friedrich der Grosse, Grosser Kurfurst, Hipper, Roon, Hindenburg, Prinz Eugen and Z-52.

4 km for ship detection range and 3 km for torpedoes detection range - Graf Zeppelin, Ernst Gaede, Leberecht Maass and T-61.

5 km for ship detection range and 3,5 km for torpedoes detection range - Bismarck, Z-23, Z-46, Z-39.

This change doesn't affect British Destroyers.

Well there is that clarification

Vanguard citadel :

What's the point of this ship? Unless it gets some serious armour, becoming T8 Hood, it's basically just shaping up to be crap.

Wow that Vanguard citadel... I dont mind having a hittable citadel, but the other aspects of the ships are also terrible...
