The only positive Thing to say about this....this...this Ship is that the North Carolina follows her. [WPR] JackRansom Players 1,147 posts 22,837 battles Report post #9 Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) Every Line hat its " grinding " Ship and for the US BBs its the Lolorado. Which is especially annoying when you come from the New Mexico which is a pretty nice Ship. With the Colorado you still have that awful speed of US Battleships, no range and the dispersion of her Guns is horrible. So you need to close the distance which is a pain in the [edited]because..yeah the " Speed ". That Ship nearly made me quit the US BB Line at all. Now i am happy with the NC and just eager to see the german Battleships while i personally never want to go over T8, its just dont seems worth the time and money. Especially after the first rumors about the german TX being just another version of the Montana and therefore also no match for the Yamato.... So you are actually one year too late with this thread and it could be a l2p issue. But... see my first line.
aboch Beta Tester 452 posts 8,129 battles Report post #13 Posted July 7, 2016 I have a feeling that the many of the ones complaining about the Colorado are exactly the type of players that "snipe" from the edges of the map. At this point i would like to thank WG for not making maps from A - Z and 1 - 25 as we would not see these guys even on the minimap than, lol :-)

[BABBY] StringWitch Beta Tester 1,608 posts Report post #15 Posted July 7, 2016 >Absolutely requiring more than base gun range on US dreadnoughts. Maybe I'm the fairy godmother of positional awareness in WoWS or something, but with the spotter plane on New Mexico I don't have a problem even with 14.9km. Given that you talk about both the guns and the lack of AA on the stock config in the same paragraph, am I to take it that you haven't played an elited Colorado at all yet? BBs get better shells when they upgrade. Usually the only thing that changes in the port screen is the AP damage, but you'll find in battle that the penetration increases a lot too.
[-SBG-] ColonelPete Players 38,559 posts 19,155 battles Report post #16 Posted July 7, 2016 but 17 km at this tier is awful..lets face it No, not really. The damage you do at 17km+ is negligible as you cannot follow up and kill the enemy. Get closer and finish the enemy you shoot at.
Adrian1914 Beta Tester 300 posts 5,993 battles Report post #17 Posted July 7, 2016 The Colorado is basically a troll ship - it trolls you and it trolls the enemy. I've seen people reference it as the Trollolado It's guns are so RNG that you can either one shot cruisers or completely miss a cruiser from like 5km, or get 1 overpen. Yes it has very good AA, but let's face it - not a lot of carriers these days. It's armor is very impressive though. To everyone that is struggling with it just go braw with it - attack mindlessly, charge the enemy and ask your team in the chat to support your push. It has very strong armor and is a pretty tanky ship, so it does last quite a lot when it gets focused. When you charge the enemy you have the highest chance of actually hitting anything and it's what helped me get this grind over asap, back when BBs didn't even have that accuracy buff at 3km or less. Even if you die, your goal should be to deal as much dmg as possible and get as much XP as possible. Unless you care very much about win rate. Just another tip - don't get used to the Colorado gameplay too much, because when you finally unlock the North Carolina it can not take the same amount of damage as the Colorado can. It has less armor, no torpedo protection I think, as well as when you turn and show your side when you want to run or turn around there is a pretty high chance you will lose half your HP. They play very differently these two ships and I did the mistake of playing it like a Colorado at first when I had no idea what I was doing, which cost me a decrease in avg. dmg and win rate, which even today I am trying to improve lol. The Colorado is a mental test which you have to pass in order to progress to the high tier US BBs. Same with the Pensacola

[-OOF-] ollonborre Beta Tester 2,598 posts 12,758 battles Report post #20 Posted July 7, 2016 I enjoy my Colorado more than the North Carolina, it's tankier, has IMO more reliable guns (North Carolina shell speed is pretty poor), good gun angles, great AA and with the range module 19 km range which is more than enough. Only downsides are the slow speed, especially now since you start to find yourself on much bigger maps, and the low amount of HP. The Colorado used to be bad when it had slower reload and armor was kinda messed up. Nowadays though, it is not a bad ship.

Stock BB's always suck. If they didn't there would be no point in having upgrades. Never use free xp to unlock a ship. Keep your free xp for upgrades and you will never have to play a stock ship again.

Devantejah Alpha Tester 1,049 posts 2,356 battles Report post #23 Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) no torpedo protection I think, It does, but less than half that of the Colorado. Fully upgraded NC is 18% reduction whereas Colorado gets 39%.. I'd rather have it the opposite since Colorado is pretty good at avoiding torpedoes in the first place. >< Edited July 7, 2016 by Devantejah
