[MPTV] DominusEdwardius Beta Tester 324 posts 2,096 battles Report post #251 Posted July 13, 2016 (edited) The 8km Type F3 torpedoes have quite a bit worse detection and a higher reaction time than the Mark 17 torpedoes of the Gearing (I posted some torpedo reaction time tables in the Kagero torpedo thread). With Torpedo acceleration on the gearing torpedoes it increases this difference even more (you'd have to be pretty foolish or pretty brave to use torp acceleration on the F3s). Gearing torps have 1.4km detection, Shima/Kag 8km do have 1.9km which is the same as Shima 12km torps. I remember that short range topedoes have betterdetection than 12 km ones but maybe im mistaken.
