Have I misunderstood, or are they making all those long overdue and very welcome changes to MM, but still allowing fail divisions?

I think fail divisions are still in. A pity because the new MM rules sound good.

my guess would be German Coastal artillery... 38 cm SK C/34 naval gun or 40.6 cm SK C/34 gun.....

Definitely not. These new ribbons do not look like ribbons - so me no like :D

A question for gun experts. Do you recognize the guns on the bastion pic?

I agree that it looks a lot like German cross-channel guns.

Lindemann, Todt and Friedrich August all had concrete roofs so this might the 28cm guns of Großer Kurfürst.

I'm not very sure, though.

Why does the SEA server get more info in their patch notes, I mean we didn't even know about the 360 turret rotation(even if they don't know for which ships) or the changes to HE and AP colours(that might be another mod gone)

Edit: ohhh, did I just read this right

"Improved the logic of the "Situation awareness" skill operation. From now on, the detection indicator is displayed in all cases when the ship is visible to the enemy team"

They're fixing situational awareness

i verified the shape of the turret and would say its the 40.6 cm.. or the 38 Cm... good grief... they look very similar

the 40.6 Cm:

So.. ya... battleships are needed in order to push the forts =x

Those ribbons.. jesus sake. The new ability to see bounces/penetrations etc. is very good and nice, but why change the outlook of the ribbons itself? Again changes that aren't needed at all. There was nothing wrong with the outlook of the old ribbons. Once again: The change shall never be the intrinsic value imo. I mean, there must be a good reason for the change.

Yes yes, it's a test and everything can still change.

From the Asian notes, looks like the ribbons are optional so you can probably keep the original ones if you want. The forts looks interesting: forts look like they just pack a punch (main battery's and AA) while the survillence stations gets stuff spotted, although through what method is unknown.

Not sure if you get points for shooting at the forts, or just if you capture them.

Also unknown if you need to shoot them until they're disabled before you can capture, or just that disabling them is the smart thing to do.

Don't those heavy batteries all have concrete roofs above the swiveling turrets, though? At least that's what I found.

I really don't know much about coastal artillery though.

Ok, this one was really needed. So annoying to try and count down how long you're actually spotted when the icon disappeared...

Am I the only one who really doesn't like how the new ribbons look? Sure I like the feature with the bounce, penetrations etc but I just think the ribbons themselves look rubbish now

They do at least take up less space, but they're hardly worthy of the name 'ribbons' anymore. I don't think they look particularly bad, but they certainly don't suit the game's aesthetics and military theme.

I want this though

If they were in the PT, the ships and not just the textures, someone would have probably milked the stats by now. But maybe not.

Any details on the new armor models? Does this effecitvely mean the US and Jap cruisers get a buff?

" In version 0.5.8, we redefined armour models for cruisers more precisely. In some cases, this resulted in around 5% of HP being redistributed between the ship's parts. The improved level of detail of the inclined protective deck and ship's lines increased the chances for a ricochet of armour-piercing shells in some scenarios, particularly when hitting the ship on the bows or stern."

Cruiser captains will like this change :)

Though how much sturdier bows ans stern will become, remains to be seen.
