Ranked battles, pointless?

What is the point of playing ranked battles? The only reason I can think of is ePeen.

 

What I have seen in ranked battles that there is a lot of chest thumping and wannabe alpha male behaviour.

 

So why play ranked at all?

you get a [edited] ton of flags and you can even get doublones JUST FOR PLAYING

That doesnt mean rewards are poor. That means you have other priorities.

Free flags? Free silver, free doubloons?  If that's not enough of an incentive for you: don't play random.

Each to their own. Not using signal flags seems foolish - personally I prefer getting more xp, more money, cheaper repair etc in addition to faster CD on consumables, shorter fire durations, not detonating etc.

So flags are useful  for lots of players, and it's a lot easier to get them in ranked than it is to get 5x kraken etc.

 

I find I play ranked when it's only me on for the evening - if mates are online I'll play random with them. If it's just me I'll play ranked. I also quite like the smaller teams, but that's just personal preference.

 

I don't like the number of games needed - if I can maintain my 60% wr in ranked then it'll take me ~250 games to get to rank 1, which I probably won't do in a month.

I'd also like a bit more variation - the prospect of doing those 250 games in the same ship(s) doesn't thrill me

agree, i not rly bother play ranked , stoped at r9 since there ends best flags , and the gold for rank 1-2? meh dont even bother

- 7v7 is different gameplay

Well if you re not that invested into the game ranked battle are probably not your stick anyway.

They re there so that people who try to optimize their play have a playground to do it (sort of, until real CW come, if ever).
