This is not how you get new players

I have no idea where to actually post this,really it's not even important,i will start by saying i never played or had any interest in this game,but

today iv'e got an email with the title "Grab your welcome gift now"! Welcome gift was containing:Tier 2 premium german cruiser Emden,7 days of premium 

account time,and 1,000,000 ingame credits,all in all not bad for start in new game.

 

Well can't say i was surprised when i tried to claim my prize"Welcome gift" just to get this message

And here is email,just in case someone thinks i'm trolling,have in mind this email arrived 6 hours ago,so no way that it's outdated

i assumed you checked ingame to see if the bonus worked?

I remember sometimes thats just what the bonus page says since it dispatches the bonus and then its like oh its been claimed/not available anylonger.

Sadly, this is not correct.

 

it doesn't say it's for new players only anywhere in the email or on any of pages it links too and existing players have managed to click on the link and received the gift.

In the other thread about this issue (in the gameplay section) existing, current players report getting the email AND GETTING the gift.  So it's obviously NOT just for new players.

 

Even if it was just for new players, then why didn't the OP of this thread get it?

I got this e-mail, too, yesterday. 15 minutes after receiving it, i tried to claim the "prize", but got the same response the OP did.

I didn't get any email of course. I am a dedicated player. I bought 3 premium ships, and was planning to buy more. I bought dobulons, and as allways premium months. And now i see that a few lucky players got 7 days free premium, a ship and, 1 million credits FOR NOTHING. I made my decision i will not buy anything from you wargaming, keep your premium ships and doublons. 7 days a 1 mill credit is almost nothing, but i feel disherathened...

Got the email, didn't work. Didn't think it would.

Then got onto forums yesterday and saw 2 threads on it. People WERE receiving it, even though they are active players.

 

And today the threads are gone. I smell something being swept under a rug. As per usual.

Same email received yesterday. I am registered and playing regularly the game since the closed beta and the Emden is in my port for ages... Obviously the "gift" is not valid.

 

I guess someone in WG pressed the wrong key at newsletter list...
