So how come the tier 5 Furataka has a reload time of 22 seconds with all other cruisers have a much shorter one it makes it impossible to play and actually not die cause you getting shot at twice as much as you wait on it to reload... it should really be considered to be lowered I mean other tier 5 cruisers in different countries are even at like 8 secs its not fair for this one to have a much longer one... also aiming in the game is almost ridiculous sometimes it seems like you have to aim a foot in front of the ship for bullets to even hit.

Not every ship is just like any other ship. You have to learn differences, adapt your play style, use strenghts and hide weaknesses. :playing:

Get the new guns. The reload drops to 15 seconds which is the same for many other heavy cruisers.

C hull will also give you different turret configuration, similar to the one in Aoba.

You get 8 in guns in T5. Upgraded turrets get 15 sec reloads (on par with all the later IJN CA guns).

Furutaka has guns that do real world damage per minute about as well as any other tier 5 crusier. When you hit you hurt. It also has 10km range torps with very good firing arcs.

Limited gun range is a pain on Ocean. Not such a drawback on maps with islands.

Thanks just upgraded will see how that goes hopefully just good enough to get past tier 5 in it

Did you really complain about an unupgraded ship? :fishpalm:

Important lesson: Most stock ships are awful. Ships show their full potential only after upgrades. And if you want to know something about a ship, there is a ship section in the forum.

thats because the other T5 cruisers use lower caliber guns with less damaging shells and it prepares you for other heavy cruisers at lower tier than other cruiser lines

Furry's fire rate is already buffed from what it actually was for those big guns which punch through armor of other cruiser from most angles.

Guess that helps but if i wanted one like a battleship i would have played battleships.

You aren't doing good even in spammy ships

Furutaka is a ship where you learn to play later IJN cruisers. It was considered a bad ship (until the latest hull addition at least) but its underperformance was in large part due to sudden BIG change in playstyle. No, it's not a BB. It's a heavy cruiser. It hurts things it hits but it's no longer a HE spammer. It starts using AP for massive damage and HE to set fires. It's not that good against DDs due to turret traverse and she really needs to start paying attention where she is going and where her guns are pointing.

If you grind through Furutaka and you hate her even when fully upgraded (assuming you do learn to use AP on her) you should perhaps consider switching to another cruiser line - Russian one, to be more specific. USN also switch to heavier guns (from tier VII on) while Russian line is focused on light cruisers you you can enjoy your HE spamming capabilities even at the highest tiers. IJN ships are like Furutaka - there are better ships in that line but the playstyle will be pretty furutakish from this point on.

This ^^. Try not to buy a ship until you have enough free xp to at least get some upgrades. Never use free xp to unlock a ship.

A harsh lesson for anyone who didn't have enough free xp to get the Nagato's second hull.

Oh the horror of having a slow BB that gets citpenned by every CA and BB with ease.

Typical WG forum users, firstly can people not read a simple name, when does the name Livi even remotely resembles a guy's name.

'using free XP', okay, so is everyone meant to have prem accounts, is everyone magically meant to have 50k+ free exp, before they move onto the next ship so they can fully upgrade it and because everyone can aim like 100%, that's why your aim is 100% for everything, oh wait....

Maybe people should think before they respond, and she has already played the battleships and she hated them because they were slow and had long reload times, hence why she kept with the cruisers in the Jap line.

P.S not everyone is stat whores, who lead sad lives because the only way they can accomplish something is in a virtual game.

Well first to everyone calling me a dude... the name is says livi im clearly a girl.. also to do more upgrades you have to play the ship to get the xp unless you have a crap load of free xp and lets be honest most newer players dont have enough free xp to do all those upgrades to make it better, and instead of seeming mean why not just give more tips and pointers on to use the ship better yes i don't like the reload time. They also gave you quicker reload times in all others then they throw you a whole new ship after you get used to what the others were you expect it to be around the same since its in the same line and all cruisers. Also i didn't use free xp to get my new ship.. so don't assume things just cause you think that is what everyone does.

Using free XP to get new ships is not really that usefull. I would advice to allways save up some free XP to help make stock ships less painfull, because nearly all ships are bad when they are stock.

How ever, from tier 5+ the japanese cruisers change playstyle from rapid firering light cruisers, to slow firering but hard hitting heavy cruisers.

If you want something more rapid firering, then maybe going american or russian could work.

But trust me, the japanese cruisers are some of the most stable performing cruisers in the game if you ask me. So just stick in there and it should hopefully get better.

Still you need to learn to hit better no matter the fire rate.

Because those faster firing guns have smaller punch you need to keep hitting constantly to do good damage and have effect to match.

I would in fact suggest going to low tiers and into Co-op to have better chances to practise gunnery.

So that when there's that low hp enemy sailing broadside in straight line and wanting to sink you hit with first salvo:

Broadside sailing cruisers should be easy to hit consistently up to 7-8 second shell flight time.

Once you start learning aiming you need to also start learn to use AP when you can penetrate armor of target showing its side.

And unlike in case of HE (High Explosive) shells, which need to be aimed at weakly/unarmored parts to do damage, AP (Armor Piercing) shouldn't be really fired at those parts.

If AP hits too flimsy area/part of the ship it over penetrates doing only 10% of max damage.

Preferably you want to hit citadel, which is the most heavily armored part of the ships containing engine rooms and gun powder/shell magazines.

Hits there do full shell damage.

Magazines are below main guns, but usually below waterline making them hard target.

Engine rooms below smoke stacks need more vertical space making them bigger target reaching above water line almost always.

Here first two salvoes hit under turrets, probably doing also few over penetrations along with normal penetrations.

Next two salvoes after "torpedo check" hit to right spot putting that cruiser out of its misery.

Also your survivability is real low so are you charging ahead at full speed into crossfire of enemy team and getting nuked by citadel hits?

Complains about forum users, goes on to insult others. Aye, typical WG forum user spotted. Welcome to the club.

And please do excuse people for not assuming sex based on screennames. Most names are not indicative of a person's sex and those that are by no means actually reflect the real sex (it's not uncommon at all for male players to pretend to be female ones to troll or some such).

Thirdly, how could people in here know the OP already has her opinion on battleships? The Furutaka does play differently from other midtier light cruisers and comparing it to BB gameplay is valid advice.

Lastly, where did that stat whore comment come from? I just doublechecked and there was no statbashing or whatever involved in any post prior to yours. In fact most posts were very helpful in either explaining the stock-ship problem and/or giving tips on how to play the Furutaka. So how about you dial back on that attitude, take a chill pill and take a good long look in the mirror before ranting about "typical WG forum users"!

First of all, welcome to the game and the forums!

As a new player its good that you picked cruisers to start off in, they are the easyest to play and learn new things in the beginnig. That being said, as others mentioned, every single cruiser line has a transition at some point going from fast fireing light cruisers to the more slowly heavy cruisers. As you have noticed, this occurs at tier 5 for the japanese. Learning to aim becomes much more important since your reload is gonna be much much longer compared to the previous ships like the kuma. This will stay that way for pretty much the entire line (ignoring tier 8 155 mogami here). If the heavy cruiser dont fit your playstyle you might struggle with the upcoming tiers.

For the furutaka specificly, try to stick with her for a while and give her a chance. Shes a great ship and can be used as training wheels to get adjusted to the higher tier cruisers. Many people don't like her though, as she can be difficult to play, even more so when stock. If you decide to give it a try, get the C hull as soon as you can, that will really make the ship shine. Biggest drawback of the furutaka is the poor 13km range on her guns, try to work around that as most ships at same tier will outrange you despite her big, hard hitting guns.

Good luck!
