And if anyone finds such cheats please make WG aware in private. Am sure they will find a way to ban them AND the users of them. Seems like some people don't learn that cheating is only short term game.

Sure it's "bad" if verified but I'm still sure most players getting to high ranks don't cheat. And don't need to.

Anyway. Please don't reply with links to cheats. Obviously!

And?

Yesterday I sank 2 DD with my Ishizuchi.

I doubt this has much effect.

The torpedo lines would only work with detected torpedoes. And only show you what you ought to be able to work out anyway. Showing you where shells are going to land is worse. It's obviously a helpful cheat, although I'm not sure massively as it won't really help you dodge. Again like aim mod it's mostly laziness. Mostly I expect it will just inform you of how you are going to die rather than allow you to avoid it. Mostly.

Its still cheating though.

Baffles me a little that people think cheating is a viable strategy. WG will ban cheating mods. They already have and will again.

Not if it's a RAM hack, they won't.

Well you could put a process into the client which actively looks for memory access calls that shouldn't be there... But the above is the case in all client server setups.

You cant 100% stop all cheats. But you can make it so hard and unreliable to do that it's not worth it.

If its really a cheat, wg should find with no probs

It's not that simple, programing is one thing, fighting cheats requires a different kind of knowledge.

BTW, weren't they looking for exactly such a person recently to hire?

Disheartening.. :-/

And I wonder if the creators of the mod have thought ahead at all. A thing like this can well kill the game, then all their effort is lost.

Would be better if they used their talents to code legal mods.

well this explains alot,

playing DDS in ranked, i had a suspicion it may be a bug with the detection, firing torps at 6.5Klm undetected, the target changed direction before the torps hit the water, not on just one single occasion, on many, over the last 2-3 weeks the amount of occurrences has dramatically increased to the point were torps are pretty much useless, unlesss you are within 2Klm of the target, but that said how to get within 2klm with an aim assist included in the Hack, you don`t without dying for the single kill,

this Hack has pretty much stuffed the game, just like the hemorrhoid hack in WOWP,

the best advice, dont spend you money on the game, why be ripped off,

as for the users of the cheat, ban them, permanently,

What you have whitnessed is the infamous WASD haxx.

Ships changing course even before you fire torps.

Wow.

Just.

Wow.

You realize that people can see the what kind of ships there are in the game?

Hmmm...if it's a RAM hack, then they're running their hack in the same process space, otherwise Windows would shut them down for Access Violation.  And if they're in the same process space, WG would be able to look for the mod, and throw a red-flag to the server even if the client was unable to stop it.  The server could then take whatever action was appropriate for the circumstance.

Hmm...

Well, it happens quite often that literally the splitsecond I pull the trigger while aiming at a target that doesn't see me it starts turning. But I always thought these were "incoming fire alert" users. I will keep thinking this.

Hi all,

Just check for yourself...:(

http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index.php?/topic/83071-done-with-game-for-now-over-this/#topmost

I really hope something is done about it as soon as possible.

Few months ago I saw WoWs video with those "features" on YouTube (it was advertisement for paid - I think even 100$ IIRC - WoWs hack pack)... :(

BTW, I (and many others) thought that with recent mandatory signing of all MODs something like that is impossible... was I (and others) wrong?

Although such a topic just before ranked can be infamouse, I do have my doubts about how big of an impact this will have.

First: Both shown videos in the NA thread are quite old. One is 6 months old, and the other is 3 months old. So both "hacks" happened before the client got repacked, and the modders needed an unpacker to extract the code they want to mod.

Second: Both videos showed only information that was availiable on the client. The hit boxes (while they maybe helpfull) work only if the enemy is visible. Same logic applies for the incoming shells. Interesting would be to know if, those incoming shell markers, also need the firing ship to be visible or not. If the later is the case, than this "hack" renders the 'Incoming Fire Alert' skill useless, by giving the user a better indication where the shells are about to come down.

But:

Third: While mods that use information that is known to the client to give users an unfair advantage over other players are bad, none of these "hacks" will work if there are no information on the client. There is no mod to unveil an undetected ship, because this piece of information is stored on the server and given only to the client in the event of e.g. entering detection range or using radar. Then, and only then, the server hands out (in this case) the position of the enemy ship to the client. The rendering itself of the now known enemy ship takes some time. (OT: You can observe such behaviour on the current 0.5.6 by ships becoming first visible on the minimap, and a few seconds (3 ;) ) later the are rendered).

Disclaimer: Be aware, that I don't want to play down any existing hacks, nor do I want to encourage players to use such mods. I only suggest that it helps sometimes to step back a bit, take a deep breath and analyse the whole situation.

And please point out if, I overlooked something or put somethin in th wrong context. Thanks!

Greetings

If it is a paid hack I can assure you it's not widespread. Most of the playerbase is too cheap even for the premium consumables for credits, let alone for a hack for real money :D

IIRC it was around 100$ (imagine that)... when they posted first info about it on Reddit in January...
