i've played my Furutaka before every possible buff, and i always found it a good ship, except for it's enormous citadel, that took more or less half aft section of the hull.

 

currently i'm playing the Kirov, and i'm able to reliably citadel tier 5 BBs and tier VII cruisers...

except the Furutaka!

 

last battle i hit one Furu 27 times with AP, for an incredible 9100 dmg...

so looks like whining for months is actually an effective strategy.

OT: Rebought her, just to test her Mini-Aoba-ness, and she feels like a T5 IJN CA. So, citadel is there but can be hidden behind her bow. At least, for some time.

Hmmm... I got citadelled quite well to day. No more or less than before. On the other hand, last time I played her, was before German cruisers were introduced so it's been a while.

 

 

Doesnt change that its a crap ship.

The Furutaka after the recent buff is an absolute monster that will very likely be nerfed. Just try it yourself while it is on 50% discount. But it does have a citadel.

The amount of I don't even with this post is high.

The new C hull on the furutaka can and will citadel and t5 cruiser with so much ease it's almost unfair.

The furutaka is quite possibly the strongest t5 imo.

Also being able to citadel any ship that it faces is quite strong.

I have cit a Colorado because 203mm can do devastating damage, AP is my go-to ammo cause at t5 what is armor anyway

No, Furu was bad in CBT. Before 5.6 it was very good sealclubber, now it`s awesome. Try it. You`ll be amazed.

fair enough i haven't played since the buff. In my experience it was bad because it had low hp, easy to citadel, not very maneuverable, its guns were very rng and with the long reload (for a tier 5) they just didnt do much. Also it had short range, you are spotted before you fired and by then even the most tomato pleb would wreck you. Compared to the knoigsberg and the Omaha it was a joke of a ship and for people to say otherwise is just silly. 

If the ship has been buffed ( as in actually buffed not like the yorck "buff") since the patch i take back my words.

Strange! I took my Konigsberg out for a few matches today, i very rarely do, and i noticed just the same. Citadels everything exept that ship. I even had a situation where one was broadside of me for 3 salvos from 6km, good solid AP dmg but no citadels. I know its a very small sample, but i just thought there was something strange and then i come on to the forums and read this

i watched that video and if you notice in all his clips he never faces tier 7 ships which would, show what happens when a colorado or fuso or nagato decide to shoot you. I like this guys videos but i wont be buying an Atlanta anytime soon. To put it simply, the prebuff furutaka was very situational and was not a carry hars ship on any map like omaha and konigsberg were.

Well, but then again: Every other T5 cruiser hast to fear T7 ships (be it cruisers, BBs oder even DDs...)

 

 

But in respect to the buffs she had: How about a Warships history mod, where for one weekend ships get their old stats backs (e.g. a pre-pre-pre-buff Furutaka, or a Cleveland with AFT and BFT).

The Furutaka got numerous buffs and is now in the "Aoba lite" configuration. It's really good.

comments about the perceived quality of the furu aside, what is the reason the OP feels he cannot get a citadel hit on this ship..

 

a few possible options.

1. he shot the wrong spot. (possible)

2. the citadel is actually gone (extremely unlikely/ borderline impossible....but I'm not going to dismiss it outright)

3. the ballistic mechanics prevent the citadel from registering (overpenetration perhaps? skimming ricochets?...I do not know)
