Katori is worth the hassle; she's hilarious to play tbh. Something about broadside wide torpedo angles and excellent turrets for T3? Not to mention decent AA, though she's slow as can be and has no armor, she's the definition of paper.. by comparison Atlanta is a tank. XD

never read any books? There is a summary at the beginning, and who would have thought? There is also sort of a summery and and a link to the FAQ on page 1 post 1 on in this thread - so you need to read exacltly like 2 lines and not even a complete post to get to the FAQ ...

A brief personal update. This event has been great for me personally. Sorry for long post, but I need to get this off my chest.

 

My playing time (and skills) are limited, so I knew that many of the missions & milestones were well out of reach. By my estimate I should get 200-240 diamonds by the end. However, as I posted earlier up-thread, I am happy with this. I get some freebies just for playing the game - and they are freebies that I want.  

 

 

I have also had two other bonuses from the event which I did not expect:-

 

1) After doing some research,  I tried Carriers in a few co-op battles.

(I never played them PvP for the week 1 mission, because I couldn't get the hang of torpedo drops.)

I gained some valuable insights into the mechanics of carrier play AND a new-found respect for those clever CV captains who can really help their teams when they play well.

 

It also confirmed that it is a gameplay for which I am not yet ready, especially since there are other demands on my limited playing time. I think carrier drivers are a bit like goalkeepers in football. Vital for a good team, but a different experience of the game to the other players. You need a different temperament to enjoy them.

 

2) I've been playing battleships again for the week 2 missions.

I gave up on battleships after finishing the grind through Kongo. (I must be the only player in the game that hates that ship!). I just hated those low-tier BBs.

Encouraged by the missions, I bought the Texas and the Fuso. To my immense surprise I have been OK in them. Not brilliant, but definitely helping my team. I was even top scorer in one game! Even more amazing...I am actually ENJOYING PLAYING THEM. (If my clan mates are reading this, they will think that my account has been hacked)

 

None of this would have happened without the GNB event, and I am sure that I am not the only player who has gained as I have.

few complains - 500 battles is a WAY too much

rewards for 100k xp is a WAY too low

rewards for 100, 300 and 500 battles are too low

2. Before which date must we spent the diamonds before it all closes and is no longer available ?

I just checked and I am at 101 games played with 340 diamonds earned.

 

In those 101 games I have killed 27 ships as CV, 46 as DD, 50 as BB and 3 as a CA.

 

I have also completed all week 1 and 2 missions and the weekly recurring 100k exp for week 1.

 

Still think I have no chance on the 500 games but 300 might be achievable and I'm happy with my progress

I have same felling on DDs.

I was afraid of them because of torpedos and invisibility. But about month ago I started to play them and found their weaknesses and good sides. So now I just found them another kind of enemy whom I can fight with. And since the torpedo soup is nerfed (shorter torpedo range, radars) the biggest problem is quite solved.

 I'm on 300 diamonds ATM with all weekly ones completed including last weeks 100k xp and looking at how slowly I'm climbing up the kill missions and games played I don't see how I'll manage 900 points for the good flag

Late Saturday evening I managed, by some disturbance in the RNGesus' works, secure an 3500 base XP (prem included) with an Isokaze. In tier 4 battle. Whilst so drunk that I had to watch the reply of the battle right after it ended because I had no idea what happened.

 

But that made me so happy that I have not played since.

After looking at the rewards again, I think my best bet is to chuck the few diamonds I collected in week 1 at the raffle ticket for the Essex kit. As the Smith was my goal, might as well at least try for that as it comes with the code for the her.

i would advise against it

a back of envelop calculation i made resulted in 

IF you spend 900 diamonds on a 150 raffle you have about ~1:150 chance of winning  thats terrible....

well the irony is if nobody plays it that dramatically improves your  chances 

(if i remember correctly i calculated wit 1% of all diamonds beeing spen on a raffle bot dont nail meon that)
