I had big hopes to this event, but comparing to Project-R at least for me it is not that interesting. I'm interested in nice goodies but absolutely not interested in raffles with 1/10,000 chance or worse...

Furthermore I see two serious game experience killer that this event promotes:

1. Just like others said main focus is put on killing ships (Permanent Missions) that should never be a key and TOP objective when somebody enters the battle - hunting frags goes against teamplay and chance to win the battle.

2. The other rather idiotic mission is the "Play XXX" battle where XXX can be as high as 500. This is a bad measure as you need absolutely no skill to do that just a port with a lot of ships. You can easily reach 500 if you just simply keep sending your ships into battle and leave them there quasi AFK... With low tiers cost will be minimal to do that... THEREFORE I believe this sole Mission Objective is going to generate a lot of AFK ships in the game that is bad for everyone.

Congratulations WG for teaching us how to behave BADLY in the game...

I'm as certain as I can be without being omniscient, that it's not going to be close to this bad.

What we probably will see is a lot more lower tier battles as those go much faster in general and, as you pointed out, cost a lot less.

It's going to take a long time before people get the 100 kill missions done and could realistically start AFKing themselves through the 100/300/500 battle missions anyway.

I was expecting campeltown as the mystery prize. It's unreleased, and reputedly not very good (so then people can say "hey it was free!" Rather than "wtf I paid money for this").

Personally I rather like the low tier perms that I haven't been able to get before. Would have been nice to have some higher tier stuff as well.

The "prizes" though aren't really the point of playing for me, for me its;

Play anyway and get free gold, camo, credits, flags, signals.

Because other people are playing also get bonus xp/captain xp

Top it off with a random low tier premium that I wouldn't have got otherwise.

I won't be putting in a huge effort, but I enjoy mixing it up. Yesterday took out a carrier to get 20 diamonds (as this would give me 100,000 creds) just for a change as they'd been sat in port not doing much. 9/10 carrier games won and I had a highly enjoyable evening.

Hmmmmm, because you can buy a port slot or premium time there is a direct conversion rate to real world currency here.

However there is a discrepancy.

IRRC a port slot costs 100 dabloons = £0.35 or 0.50 with real money. Or 100 diamonds

1 day of premium costs £0.86 or €1.00 with real money or 50 diamonds.

Port slot conversion is 100 diamonds = 100 dabloons = 0.50

Premium conversion is 1 day = 50 diamonds = 1.00

So premium is the best value for diamonds when converting to real world money!. I also believe because premium is a direct conversion it should be the standard.

This means that 50 diamonds = 1.00

Therefore:

Albany + port slot costs 8.00 (Tier 3 cruiser costing a little less than an Aurora)

Tachibana + port slot costs 3.00 (Tier 2 DD - bit expensive no?)

Smith + port slot costs 7.00 (really? for a tier 2 DD??)

Katori + port slot costs 9.00 (Tier 3 cruiser costing the same as an Aurora)

Not sure I'm in agreement with the economy that this event revolves around. It seems completely out of wack and random as [edited].

There should be far more options with regards to diamond trading. It should also be far more comparable with dabloons and real world money. It all seems out of balance.

So as you can see it will cost you x amount of € to buy each item.

Bottom line is that premium time is your best bang for your buck

If you buy a ship you already have, you will get the credit value.

Thx for the clarification. What about the port slot that comes with the ship? Will it also be converted into a credit value or will the slot actually be added to the port?

The kamikaze R missions you could get more pearls than needed for the top reward without completing all the missions. If this is the same then I expect some of the weekly missions to be worth more than 20 diamonds

oh-really-how-interesting-quote-1.jpg

That means a port slot is equal to 1.34 euro.

I still stand by my point that premium time is still the standard for conversion to real money.

The problem with using premium time as the basis for a conversion rate is that premium time has a price range, not a static rate.

Meh, was hugely looking forward to this event. I was actually expecting historical missions where you have to join as specific ships to recreate actual battles, not sure what I was drinking to think that would happen.

But the missions are very grindy and too specific (kill X in ship if Tier Y, really?), I have no interest in collecting low tier premiums and even premium time I don't make good use of because I play casually.

So basically this month boils down to me grinding free port slots, that's it, that's the only thing I actually consider worthwhile in the treasures. I don't mind (I need the slots) but it's hugely underwhelming for such a hyped event.

Agreed 100%. I was expecting something rather more epic. As you said, it is just a grind fest for not very interesting "prizes". Oh well....

It would not have been so bad had WG not hyped it so much as being something amazing. I was looking forward to something historical after all the Anime stuff, but this is just grindey, irritating missions with the names of some real battles loosely tacked on to make it feel like it has something to do with history. I do sometimes feel that those of us actually interested in history are pushed aside for the Anime/prize hunter crowd. :(

Edit: What with the Campbeltown and now this event, this is the first time that I have felt genuinely disappointed by this game. I love playing it too much to stop, but this has knocked my faith in the direction this game is taking.

well, to me i was a bit dissapointed.

I can earn t2/t3 ship that i don't care about /are bad anyway (what do you even need it for, and why the hell are people so hyped about them is beyond me), so only thing I could get is some flags / creds etc...
but well, ill participate for sure...

And when i first googled USN Smith, it was shown as Mahan class DD, so i was like "T7 premium gunboat DD? hey, thats actually not bad!". and then I see its actually t2 smith class DD :(

So I looked at the prizes and I will probably do it that way (assuming I get 1000 diamonds):

Smith - 350 *

Tachibana - 150 *

Port slot - 100 *

Albany - 400 *

(in this order)

I will have something after the event is over (flags, premium will vanish fast).

And there's quite few material prizes that I won't win - to know my luck :B

Is it actually possible for us to finish the event  by the 8th of June? IT needs 12 million and so far we got 131k in a day. 4 million seems more likely than 12 ,  i wish we knew what the top prize was would give people more of an incentive with lots of prizes of pretty questionable value.

it is theoretically possible i guess. cause it is grinding event. so you will see much larger increase the further in you are.

A few questions.

1) It says, "Barter your diamond for stuff". Does this mean I have to be careful on which item I want to trade, correct (not to overspend)?

2) How much total diamonds we can achieve? From my calculation it is 820 (500 from perma mission + (4*80) weekly missions), just want to confirm my calculation.

3) For physical items (Italeri, Jinx), does WG send it outside the EU (because I live outside the EU)?

4) I have the Albany, if I choose to redeem diamonds for it. How will I be compensated? Credits or gold?

1) You won't be able to afford all the prizes, so you have to be careful have you spend your diamonds :)

2) You can get 1000 diamonds during the event, but you can also participate in contributor activities, they are giving away diamond prizes on top of the max 1000 diamonds.

3) Yes, we can ship them outside of the EU.

4) You will get compensated in credits.

Regarding the 5th weekly mission:

Hello, the 100x XP mission will have a bit different timetable for technical reasons - it will have to run Monday to Monday :honoring:

We have updated the Coral Sea article. Now it shows that the mission will start on Monday, 9 May.

Yes but the Mission is broken and impossible to complete at the moment.

I've seen quite a few reports about this mission not working, we are investigating it.

there's no need to prove anything. They have their servers. They have the data. They have always, when something like this went wonky, fixed it quickly and gave everyone eligible their rewards.

you are here for a short time, so your mistake is forgivable

never ever rely on WG data/servers/databases/backups

I've been here since the start of open beta, you padawan. And in WoWS they have always, to my knowledge, fixed that type of error to everyone's satisfaction.

Completed the 2500EXP mission a second time with the Shchors (3022 base experience), the battle has been counted to the total numbers of battles played, but the 2500EXP mission still not completed.

shot-16.05.05_12.02.36-0756.jpg

Edit: As mentioned below, fixed by now, mission completed and diamonds awarded.

I am sure that you are aware of this already, but just in case.....

I notice that you say "slots" (plural). Remember what MrConway said in post #555 up-thread: "Each chest can only be opened once."

So if you want more port slots after opening Supply Box #04 (free port slot, 100 diamonds) then you need to go for:

  • Supply Box #09, Tachibana + Port Slot, 150 diamonds
  • Supply Box #10, Smith + Port Slot, 350 diamonds
  • Supply Box #08, Albany + Port Slot, 400 diamonds
  • Supply Box #11, Katori + Port Slot, 400 diamonds

No I didn't, thanks for pointing that out! Now that's just BS...

So even if I wanted premium time I could only get one day and that's it?

Oh well, I wasn't intending to change my play patterns for the event, I'll just play as I would normally and see how many diamonds I make.
