Well I just tried my first ever carrier battle....and it is safe to say it will be my last! 20 diamonds is not enough to have to do that 4 times...

 

I now have a whole new respect for CV captains, I really don't know how you do it.

 

Like all ships once you get the hang of it it's not too bad. Micromanagement is my least favourite part of RTS style gameplay but that's how it is. At least at low tiers it's easy to get used to, I doubt I'll ever go beyond tier V in a CV though, maybe tier VI. After that it's just a pain lol.

Well I just tried my first ever carrier battle....and it is safe to say it will be my last!

 

I now have a whole new respect for CV captains, I really don't know how you do it.

 

It is actually quite easy once you get used to it.

 

First avoid their fighters with your TBs - try tying their fighters up with yours and when their fighters are busy zoom past with your TBs.

 

Second perfect the manual drop:

• At tier 4 there are not many ships with great AA meaning as long as you pick the right target (big slow BBs are ideal at first) you can spend your time lining up perfectly i.e. you might have to skirt around the ship to get a better angle if they start turning.
• Then, the idea is to launch your torps right in front of their path whilst holding alt (for manual launch) and you want to get them as close as possible to the ship whilst leaving arming room*
• You can learn the arming distance by watching the torps as they hit the water.  At first you just have the torp trails but after a second or so they get tiny green triangles on each torp and they indicate that your torps have armed.
• The final thing to note is that you need to lock in the attack i.e. hold alt, aim and then left click whilst your TB squad is outside of the aim circle (otherwise they have to leave the circle and line up and your target has moved).  It is possible to keep setting revised attack points right up until your planes start the attack run and the aim circle turns yellow however sometimes it is less responsive than you would like.

That seems like it is aimed at players who do use bot programs....

 

300 diamonds  in month long goals not including 300 or 500 goal

 

80 week 1 missions last time event lasted in too 3rd or 4th week so if 80 a week Mission last total 5 weeks 

 

900 diamonds possible if you complete all monthly and assuming 80 stones a week missions as the final milestone is 1000 we can be pretty sure the later weekly missions will be for more than 80 stones

Hmm, I've never managed 2500 base xp in any ship, unless I'm mistaken (several over 2400, however). And 300 or even 500 battles in a month?

 

So far I'm disappointed on the difficulty of the missions and also the rewards. I was hoping for Tier 5-6 premiums.

 

Fuso/Amagi/Nagato/Myogo Just looking at your BB's these ships have achieved above 2500 base XP according to your profile. cant be bothered looking at you other classes..

Is the 2.500 base xp mission even working? Just had a 3.200 base exp win with myoko and nothing. Played another to mission with a carrier to see if the tracker updates and got an update for the carrier battle.

Yes, but that is a pretty poor assumption to make.  I'm not sure what the average game time is but it is certainly shorter than that and then there is the fact that people don't live to the end of each game anyway.  So, even if you got an ave server match time of 15 minutes then individual average game times would be lower again.

This is my first experience of WoWS missions so can anyone please advise me if my port (see signature) will be sufficient to earn enough rewards for me to try for some of these missions?  I appreciate I cannot do all of them, but will my lack of tier 6+ ships and only having Japanese ships cripple me?

 

I could buy the Mutsuki and Fuso to have a few more tier 6s and possibly even get the Atago - but I was hoping to stick at tier 5 for a while yet as I continue to learn the game.  

 

Any recommendations from the old timers would be appreciated!

Get the Fuso, but ideally if you can free EXP to the B hull or above.  That ship is an absolute animal.  It will help you get to 100 ship kills in short order.

There seems to be a mishap! 

 

On the event page where the weekly missions are listed appear four missions worth 20 diamonds each. On the special news page announcing the first week of missions there is a fifth weekly mission (get 100.000 XP), also worth 20 diamonds. What's the correct one?

 

Also: Are the port slots for 100 diamonds purchaseable only once per account?

Actually the kill and battle missions do not seem to be tied to tiers. So the easiest place to do them would be 2-4 tier...

How did you do on the kamakazee missions? you hide you profile so we cant look at how good a player you are. but you should at least manage some  portslots out of it! and remember you can get some of the milestones for just taking part.

As said the event lasts for 5 weeks.

There's a personal goal of 1000 diamonds which won't be available if you add up all the permanent missions, and have 5x 80 from the weekly (comes to a total of 840).

On the main page it lists an extra weekly mission of 100,000xp (which doesn't show on the mission page) worth 20 diamonds.

 

Even if that IS included it's still only 940.

 

So there must be missions later that are worth more.

 

Since the weekly missions are rather specific to classes/tier rather than the kamikaze ones which were generic, I'd guess the missions will change each week rather than just refresh.

 

The 500 battles over the 35 days is just short of 15 battles a day. Now I personally won't be playing 500 battles in 5 weeks (the 100 is a closer bet for me) but some people probably will

just a note to you guys:

earn 2500 xp in a cruiser only counts the base exp, not the flag/first battle bonus...
