[TTTX] Ictogan Players 1,841 posts 7,432 battles Report post #3 Posted April 29, 2016 Haven't had a game on the north map yet, but I'm kinda disappointed that the rain only appears in the waiting time and ~30 seconds after that. Would love if it rained through a whole battle.
[TEAM_] Dampfboot Players 1,367 posts 11,386 battles Report post #4 Posted April 29, 2016 (edited) To be honest for a CV player this is total crap. Ships suddenly appearing out of nowhere. You accidentally run into AA cruiser and *poof* all your planes are gone. With the ridiculous imbalanced AA at the moment that is a big issue, especially against Kutuzov or when your are low tier CV (as most of the time). You can't do anything during the storm. CV player may just as well go drink a coffee until storm is over. Edited April 29, 2016 by Dampfboot
simonmd Players 801 posts 1,673 battles Report post #5 Posted April 30, 2016 Not seen the cyclone yet but the normal rain and snow is really very nice. Doesnt negatively effect gameplay and adds to the atmosphere.

The weather is a nice touch which affects everybody one way or another. Maybe one day a more animated sea will appear to top it off.
Skyllon Players 2,588 posts Report post #7 Posted April 30, 2016 Just my two eurocents... Weather should be set on start of the match and last for its entire duration (or vary between halves of the match, but should not change more often). I understand (and hope) it is still in development stage so we might expect changes to its mechanics, but whatever they are going to be, you should also consider implementing different weather effects (like - squall, fog, heavy snowfall, sandstorm) with corresponding gameplay impact. It would be also nice to see night battles at some point. Good job so far, though. It is a nice start.

Darksith_77 Players 117 posts 10,043 battles Report post #11 Posted May 1, 2016 what i dont understand is why when its suddenly raining in a couple of minutes the rain goes away and the sun is back . why?? ..why cant we have entire missions in rain etc --or atleast increase the time like 10 min rain etc . 2ndly the water drop lets should hit the screen make it kinda realistic looking effect as the snow hits the screen smears every where .

[SINC] Date_A_Bullet Players 2,677 posts 12,073 battles Report post #13 Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) There should be a feature, to switch on your ship lights in cyclone. To increase your view but at the same time, makes you more visible. At least you would have SOME control if the weather changes, unlike now, where it just happens and its either good or bad luck. With the lights there would be an actual player interaction with the weather, based on what decision you make (use the weather passive to sneak or try to see as much as possible). [DOE-K] Admiral_Lutz_II Players 1 post 9,298 battles Report post #14 Posted May 2, 2016 The weather is great, but like most people it should last for longer. It would also be good if you could see the weather system on the mini map, then you could change course to avoid or go round. I agrre the issue with being a cv player but in bad weather planes would not fly!! need some rough seas or waves when the weather kicks in. keep up the ggod work
[BLUMR] Rasengan007 [BLUMR] Players 27 posts 14,801 battles Report post #15 Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) Beautiful visuals and the weather creates new tactical situations. I like it a lot! As usual people complain though, had a Colorado driver quit the game when the cyclone hit - sadly on my team. There really should be a report as deserter option ... Keep up the good work! Edited: I think the 2 minutes duration is fine for now. Edited May 2, 2016 by Rasengan007

I agrre the issue with being a cv player but in bad weather planes would not fly!! need some rough seas or waves when the weather kicks in. keep up the ggod work They would fly, but would have a hell of a time finding enemy or landing on their carrier! Word about weather though. Due to limited visibility you can sail closer to your fleet and just keep planes in vicinity, ready to strike. If weather impacted visibility for the duration of the entire match, almost granted everyone would meet in Cap assuring intense fight in Domination mode. Also hydro and radar would play a crucial role there. Perfect for team battles, where everyone works together. For sure CV gameplay would be entirely different, but I think it would be good thing. New things at the table are always welcome.
Domin1c Players 232 posts 13,295 battles Report post #17 Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) Who the [edited]had this idea? Why, in the name of the seven hells did the cyclone [edited], ever get past QA? Reducing spotting to a hard 8km and letting ships spot for each other is so monumentally retarded and downright breaks the game. The spotting mechanic is the most important one in the game and this [edited]up everything about it. It's like playing another game. Wanna have fun? Too bad, you got North with that [edited]weather which will make sure you waste 20 minutes. Only very few ships work well in close range, and it's a [edited]gamble to go towards the enemy. Playing cruiser? Have fun not doing jack crap. Playing BB? Hope you don't run into a DD. Remove this crap from the game. Leave the music and the visual effect though, those are great. [SYTHE] _Flyto_ Players 623 posts 7,167 battles Report post #18 Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) I've only had one game with a cyclone in it since the patch, which makes it difficult to have a considered opinion... but in that game, I really liked it. With a little bit of warning it totally changed the tactical situation, and made players have to think on their feet to take advantage of that. I haven't encountered it in a carrier, and am not sure whether the inability to see ships that others have spotted is too harsh for them. More of this, please, but (as with this one) introduced carefully and with thought. The cosmetic weather effects on other maps are very atmospheric, but it's a pity they don't last. [UNICS] Crow_Eschatologist Players 124 posts 5,209 battles Report post #19 Posted May 3, 2016 Love the weather graphics - love the cyclone event when it comes up in game as well - it would be better if it lasted the entire match though More weather options would be fantastic - choppy seas, storms, etc.
[-FC-] Glig69 Players 346 posts 13,025 battles Report post #20 Posted May 3, 2016 Haven't had the North cyclone yet (played through the 3-day weekend, just didn't come round on rotation), but I can comment on the other maps: - rain - looks awful; it only seems to render occasional sprays in the very near foreground, that looks like someone is squirting a garden hose from over your head; there are no rain effects in the mid or far distance, so it looks totally artificial. I'd rather you removed it (in fact, I like the idea, so would rather you improved it). - snow/sleet - by contrast, this is much more effective; I like it a lot; adds to the atmosphere - probably because it's only a few wisps rather than a sleeting blizzard, which might fail in the same way that the rain fails. Keep trying though - I like the concept, and am looking forward to my first cyclone.

[PKTZS] JapLance Weekend Tester 2,567 posts 18,265 battles Report post #22 Posted May 5, 2016 I find it a bit strange that they only last for a minute at the start of the game. And also that most of the games have rain at the start. Should be less frequent Cyclone in North... I crapped my pants twice last night. First when in my Myoko suddenly I saw the blurred form of an unexpected Warspite coming out of nowhere... Thank god he had HE loaded and I had two friendly North Carolinas behind me . The second time was when in my Murmansk I was chasing an enemy DD that had been harassing our fleet and yet again an unexpected Nagato appeared. But this time I had torps ready to launch, so the Nagato had to maneuver and couldn't train its guns on me. Hit Nagato with one torp... and sunk the elusive destroyer with another . My torpedo hit, my rain of HE shells and the close-following ships finished the Nagato.

You dont see enemy ships with your planes until its too late, you cant drop on them and have to loop back around, but in doing so you lose sight of them again!! Clearly things need tweaking a little, another 0.5km spotting ability on planes would make all the difference.
