Informative and fun, keep it up! I like your style!

It wasn't me though, all credit goes to an asian player nicknamed Eurobeat. I'm just a fan.

The furutaka is awsome, a true sealclubbing machine. Aoba also ain't bad, but sees higher tier ships more regularly. Also, the amount of times I have killed Myoko's with my Aoba is hilarious, that slow turret speed really hurts them, when they think they can keep up with the Aoba :D

same with the aoba

I really love my Aoba. Aoba should get an own class called AssaultCruiser, it is how awesome she is. The only thing you never are allowed to do in an Aoba is to show your side to the enemy (so no turning, just different speeds in going forward). But you don't have to, you have 2/3 of your guns front, so just play Aoba lika an IS. Move frontaly towards enemy and shot enemy into pieces. The only problem with this is your team, they do not understand what you do.

It is no problem to tank two broadsiding BBs frontaly at 12 kms. You should really try it out. It is awesome.

Isn't that the case, regardless of what ship you play?

I am currently playing the Furutaka again to see if I can have more success in this ship than when I played it the first time.

Some observations:

## The attributes of the ship, such as rate of fire, range, turning circle, AA etc etc are unchanged from before. Effectively this means that it has been both nerfed and buffed to some respect.

BUFFED: Rivals Omaha, Murmansk got nerfed in the 0.5.3 patch - an indirect buff to Furry Taco.

NERFED: Now has to cope with rivals such as Kberg and Kirov that outrange it significantly.

## Good gunnery is essential in this ship, since you don't have the RoF of most rival cruisers to just spam shells onto the target.

## The torpedoes pack a punch, but it is easy to get fixated into trying to find a way to use them (I did!). This gets you into trouble

## The AP is great, of course, but don't ignore the HE. You have a very high chance of creating fires and you will encounter smarter players who won't obligingly show you their broadside all the time.

## Open maps are very challenging due to the range advantage that all rival cruisers have over it at tier 5.

e.g. Ocean, and Strait

## Playing low tier against tier 7 cruisers can also be very, very painful. They have the same power guns (mostly) and more of them, with longer range.

A tier 7 game on Ocean is purgatory.

Overall, though playing the ship again has not been as unpleasant as I thought it would be.

Another thing to note with the Furutaka, is that it has really trollish armor, sometimes BB armor would bounce of it's bow if you were angled really well. No idea if it was a bug, but I am assuming it was. Or it might just have been my perception of it, but I never got big hits from the front IIRC.

I think Ichase also commented on this at one point, or it was another Youtuber.

Best thing is deffinetly the AP, if you get within 8km or so you can even citadel tier 4 and 5 BB, especially Kongo and Myogi. Most BB players do not expect this and get a serious shock :D

It does have unusually good armour for a tier 5 cruiser. IIRC 25mm upper hull & deck, which is capable of bouncing shells up to of 14" calibre. The bow itself is thinner, but not very large.

By comparison, the Omaha is all paper aside from the citadel. I think the Konigsberg maxes out at 20mm upper hull so it doesn't bounce BB shells. I don't have the exact numbers at the moment because gamemodels3d broke.

Well, Furutaka is a heavy cruiser, so compared to other tier 5 that are light cruisers, the armor should be better.

The Furutaka has unfortunately had her reputation sullied since people just can't seem to adjust to the new heavy cruiser play-style. People are used to flamethrowers like the Kuma, and then they're given high-power but slow firing guns and they have no idea what to do with them. I hated the ship at first but I adjusted my playstyle and got good results with her.

Also yes, the Aoba is exceptionally good.

Ofcourse, having same top tier mutsuki torps with excellent arcs (perhaps the best?) doesn't hurt either :)

I haven't seen the furutaka torp arcs but I'm like 90% certain that the best arcs go to svetlana (probably spelt that wrong so, tier 4 russian), cause those things are ridiculous, the front launchers only need some stupid angle like 20 or something like that. Someone probably knows the actual angles for both

Another thing to note with the Furutaka, is that it has really trollish armor

Which also makes it quite nasty target for DD caliber HEs.

Omaha and Königsberg give consistent damage for deck hits, but except for superstructure hits its quite hard to do damage to Furutaka.

Well, Furutaka is a heavy cruiser, so compared to other tier 5 that are light cruisers, the armor should be better.

That "heavy"/"light" cruiser designation has nothing to do with armor but gun caliber.

Furutaka just doesn't use "all or nothing" armor scheme and has some armor also outside citadel.
