Have you kept the Kirov?

Is it a Keeper? I like the dispersion and the great range on its guns but it's so large and lack of armour kinda means you can't carry with it as one unlucky broadside and your dead. I'm grinding to tier 6 now and I'm curious whether people kept theirs once you got to tier 6? I'm keeping my tier 4-6 Bb for example but with Kirov I'm not sure whether I should since I feel like I can't affect the battle in it as much as in New York or Arkansas for example.

Well I also agree by keeping the Kirov if you got some free slots but if you got no slots left don't sell any other ship for the slot but just sell the Kirov instead

really? I'd have thought most people keep the tier 6 since it actually has armour. I started grinding this line because I need fast firing guns for Appregio 2000 hits mission and I heard Cleveland got nerfed since closed beta somehow .

Yes. It's an interesting ship. I like interesting. I've already got Gremyashchy and Murmansk for tryharding; I wanted a ship that offers a different experience to be the one my Russian captain is trained for, and the DD line failed me, so now I have Kirov.

It feels like it's firing ark is higher than the previous ship in the line making hitting dd really hard and since you got no armour even dd can harass you to death. It's great for shooting cruisers and Bb but trying to hit a dd seems like an absolute nightmare

Sold mine. I didn't feel like being a piece of wet tissue paper with the power to disintegrate whatever it touched. 

Keeping the Budyonny though. I won't be going higher, I have a Myoko, Hipper and soon Roon. Don't need another high tier Cruiser line, waste of credits.

Didn't like it at all. Sneezing at it is enough to penetrate the citadel, regardless of angle.

On the other hand, it is the biggest of tier V cruisers, it has worse turning radius than tier X cruisers, poor armor and bad rudder shift and concealment. Due to that it goes down very fast if you are focused and there is not much you can do about it. I think it's the worst tier V cruiser.

well thats right and thats why you have to play it kinda unconventional

 

a bit like a izumo where you slow down/reverse and just shoot your front guns  and really care when you do a turn.

At the moment I'm planning to keep my Kirov. I think it's a great looking ship, especially with that blue/white/black Russia camouflage pattern. Yeah, she's a massive target, but i try to not get carried away and stay at the back using my good gun range and great accuracy to put rounds down range and reliably hit targets unless I misjudge the lead. For the tier it's in the Kirov has some very good guns, just need to be very careful not to expose that huge citadel. Thankfully the Furutaka prepared me for such play, the same can't be said for others. I killed a full HP Kirov on the enemy team in three salvos. Five citadels lol, poor bugger didn't stand a chance sailing side on in a straight line. At the moment, my worst nightmare is getting MM in tier VII with Kiev's on the other team, those buggers just rain fiery death upon me and there's nothing I can do about it.

I'm starting to miss the Omaha I think it had much lower arc at tier 5 and hitting destroyers was much easier from what i remember.

I am sure keeping mine, yes she is a floating citadel target, but she dishes them out faster than she receives them most of the time, just delete a poor murmansk in 2 salvos, first was a full 9 gun salvo 2 citadels and his engine out, the follow up was just a 6 gun salvo, 4 more citadels in that one and he went to Davy Jones.

Nah, sold the Kirov when I unlocked the Budyonny. It was an entertaining ship, yet I prefer the rapid-firing and nimble Murmansk.

I think Kirovs biggest bane is destroyers it must be the only cruiser i played where im terrified of destroyers guns since it has terrible maneuverability and its terrible ark means DD have no difficulty dodging your shots.

I keep all my ships, but I have no interest to play Kirov after I researched Budyonny. There are much better T5 ships in the game(Murmansk, Fujin, Kamikaze, Königsberg to mention few). The problem with Kirov is overpenetrating with 180mm all than time, and if you switch to HE, you will not citadel anything... also the slow rate of fire of 4 is just pathetic compared to Budyonny's 7.5 RoF. "Body" shoots almost twice as fast with same amount of guns...

LoL. I am at T8 and my favourite so far was the Tier7. You start to get the excellent shell arcs on the Tier6 Budovny which is a wonderful ship but the T7 has more range and +3 guns and pretty much faces the same bad playerbase.

The Chapayev at T8 is basically the same but with better AA and radar. I dont really feel its enough though.

So ive  played more games in kirov which were ok but i kept thinking that if i was in omaha i would have possibly won  at least 1 of those as i would have been able to kill the destroyers which kirov just cant hit.

I think im going to sell it since while it does great dmg the moment someone looks at you funny it dies. And thats just not fun. Probably going to get Omaha again for tier 5.

I will surely sell it, cant stand the slow turning and massive citadell. I hope and belive that the Budyonny fits my playstyle better. I have the nimble, fast firing Murmansk and that together with the Gnevny will be my russian tier 5 keepers.

Yep just got the stock Budyonny there is no comparison that ship is 10x more comfortable to play compared to kirov.

huh the kirov guns are stupid powerful any cruiser is a free citadel. I don't think i have ever not caused 2-3 citadels a game in it!.I never shoot He and always try to keep around 14-15k range it's more like a battle cruiser.which means most ships can't even shoot back at tier 5.

ive keept the budy too  and her ive played.

 

so ill give the kirov another try soon to see if i free the port slot.

i like it but i'd rather play my  murmansk cause of the prem  status.

Yep just got the stock Budyonny there is no comparison that ship is 10x more comfortable to play compared to kirov.  

 

Funny you say that, I got the Kirov a few days ago and had a massive grin on my face every time I played it, and I only just got the B hull. I don't see how it can get much better than this, I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep it.
