OMG I hate the Roon

Bought my Roon re trained 16 point capt in the Tirpitz and bought all upgrades.

Today I took it out for the first time and I have never hated a ship so much.

More 0 damage salvos than you can shake a stick at.

Never had problems like it in the Hipper and it has the same guns.

And then you take a hit and your ship falls to pieces I felt like I was in a T5.

Did I already mention I hate this ship.

The Nurnberg felt sturdier than this steaming pile of s#%t made out of citadels.

And just to confirm the Roon sucks harder than a $100 hooker.

Looks like Sander93 was faster. 

AP damage against angled targets is definitely disappointing, but the damage you deal as soon as the target stops angling usually makes up for it.
Alternatively you can switch to HE. The rate of fire of the Roon is good enough that you can usually change ammunition quick enough to properly respond to a change in angling of the enemy, especially if Main Battery Modification 3 is bought to increase it by 12%.

In my experience it's one of the toughest cruisers in the game when properly angled. Rarely reveive any cits in it. AP can do ~5k dmg to BBs every 8.8 seconds. The only situation in which it is weak is when literraly every single target withing you range angles against you, but that rarely happens.

Never use HE unless shooting at a destroyer or against angled targets. Use AP even against battleships when they aren't angled. The thing about the Kutuzov sounds like bad RNG to me, because the guns are shooting the same shells at the same speed.

NC was well angled at 16km from me repeated 0 and low damage salvos made me try HE.

I used AP exclusively in the Hipper and had great games including when up tiered.

It's not like I don't know how to shoot all of a sudden.

At work now so a welcome break from wanting to throw my monitor out the window.

Was seriously tired when playing so hoping it was just a bad day of RNG and lack of sleep.

If it still performs so badly 2moz I will need a punching bag next to my pc.

Having some better games with this piece of crap today.

It is still the most fragile ship I have played and I have still never played a ship that gets more 0 damage salvos than this thing.

I thought the Ibuki was crap but at least the HE on that does reliable damage.

The Roon AP is absolutely useless unless they are flat on if not 0 damage and the occasional 500 hit wooooooooo.

And I just do not understand how when I used to get reliable damage on angled targets in the Hipper.

I acually feel you bro. I got my Roon a few days ago, palyed mby 30 games with it. At first it was totally crap, but it is understandable, because i had no upgrades. Now with hull and range upgrate it is a lot better, but still i feel like there is something wrong with Roon ammo. With hipper i had at least 3-4 citadels every game, and getting 6 or 7 wasnt anything special. And then i got the Roon. The same guns, same shells, same ships in enemy team, and i get rarely 1 or 2 citadel hits. Its either Atago, Ibuki or Baltimore got some magical armor upgrate lately, or Roon shells doesnt work. The shots i would be pretty sure will citadel in Hipper in Roon deals some ridiculous 560 dmg/shell, hitting straight in the engine room. Not mentioning i have easier time penning angled Yamato then angeled Des moines. It gets citadeled pretty easy too, but it was the same with all German cruisers, so nothing new here. And if u dont get citadeled, they can always shoot HE at you, because the superstructures are hudge, and get 5k/salvo + fires.. Summing up, i feel like there is some weird rng crapgoing on with the Roon. It was suppose to be strongest T9 cruiser, but for now it look like it is worse than Hipper to me.

I agree, it is a piece of floating crap, HE is worthless and AP is completely dependent on the enemy angling. GG wg, gg.....

Ship is just broken plain and simple it should be impossible to score as many 0 damage salvos as this thing manages.

And as stated before it makes no sense I could get good damage with my Hipper's AP on angled targets.

You must be playing another Roon than me . Mine deals great damage to anything that isn't angled or only slightly angled. 10k salvos against BBs are nothing special. Same goes for 20k salvos against CAs.

I am wondering if it is some sort of bug as this is the only ship that has ever done this.

Hipper AP worked just fine all my US and IJN ships work fine only the Roon has issues.

Hitting a slightly angled Kutuzov 12 times in two salvo's and getting 0 damage is just ridiculous.

Would not happen in any other ship I have played.

Double the frustration when cruiser AP hits me at angles and does damage just fine.

Typical Roon match for me and fact if I was in any other ship than the Roon a lot more of the hits would do damage.

Will get round to watching them not sure what I will learn though my shooting is fine 33% hit ratio and only 63k average damage.

And most of that damage is from the odd cruiser that gets hit flat on or bb straight liners.

with my roon, shooting with AP, i got citadel even on amagi and Izumo (yes...i need luck for it). btw it's true, damage against angled targets sucks...
