I'm slightly concerned with the top tier Soviet ship getting 220mm guns. But time will tell

They are probably waiting with Profintern a bit so people can get their hands on Svietlana first.

But wasn't USN cruisers supposed to get radar too? I can't see why only the Soviet ships have it, if anyone needs radar, it is the USN ships. They need something, and based on the tests and videos of the Soviet ships, they don't specifically need radar as they can stand on their own.

two points from the patch notes that I like:

  • Recalculated protection of secondary guns from HE shells and shrapnel - it is now calculated based on the maximum thickness of the frontal armor. Hit points of secondary guns have been doubled.

Yamato mucho likey! Usually wouldn't have any left after two or three good HE volleys... :)

  • Changed the sound effect for damage markers

hooooray!

New Yubari based ship? Can we have a picture and stats plz?

Probably the same old ship that has been in the files for a very long time. She isn't a Yubari as much as a testbed for various equipment. Last I saw she had very strange weapons and listed at T10. Don't expect her to be a proto-premium ship. She is most likely going to be a pure test-ship.

Just that the devs have stated previously that they don't want CAs with BB guns. Not that 220mm is large enough for that, but WG have a history with Soviet vehicles being slightly better than their competitors at release. So was the case (somewhat) with DDs as well, until they got nerfed during public test

I have to say, I am still not entirely happy with how might peform, seems like it could be OP. Also, wonder if they will ever fix some of the OP russian clubbers like Emperor or Murmansk.

Well the Yuubari herself was a testbed for various equipment in real life, so that makes perfect sense. For example the funnel system seen on the Furutaka, Fubuki and Nagato and upwards in the historical timeline from there was first tested on the Yuubari. I believe the 127mm cannons on the DD's were too at some point, as well as some of the 155mm cannons on the larger ships. She wasn't even listed as part of the navy until a lack of ships forced the IJN to make her take front line duties during the war.

Except that we allready have the normal Yubari that served IRL in the game. It was available for purchase some time during CBT.

Yes of course, I wish I could get my hands on her, just to look at her in port if nothing else, she's very good looking.

Though an Agano class or the Ooyodo would be good too. :)

She does look good, but she it not very good. She is supposed to be a good AA ship for tier 4, at least that is what they advertised, but she isn't. Her guns are not ver good, her torpedoes have the worst arc of any ingame, and her modules get wrecket just as easily as on a destroyer. A shame really. she needs a buff :(

Notes say US will get it in the next patch (after this one).

Cynical answer is this will encourage people to do Russian cruisers instead of just sticking with US ones.

I have a feeling it is because they want to see how radar actually works and how it affects gameplay. Then they can make adjustments if nessecary without it affecting too many ships in the beginning.

US cruisers have it as well at high tiers, but remember the great Mother Russia invented radar.

Ahem

Well, it has to be that way when one nation needs far modern vessels to compete with the designs of other nations. Technology goes forward, so it's not really surprising why the Soviet designs get access to radar before the other ships.

An necessary evil when half of your tech tree consist of paper design from the post-war period.

umm... backwards logic much (from WG not you)? If they wanted to see its impact, MAYBE they should have stuck it on ships that people actually have, as opposed to have a long grind to get?

It's not a necessary evil to give ships which had radar in real life radar in the game. Otherwise a lot of ships that are already in the game would also get it.

Such as the Hipper class. Though I feel like a premium Prinz Eugen will get it but the regular Hippers won't. She was either the first or among the first German ships to receive radar equipment.
