Kiev keeper ? or Just sell and go for the Tashkent

Hey guys what do you think ? Kiev and Tashkent have same guns with kiev one tier lower being a decent seal clubber. Anybody kept it or just sold for the Tash ? Ognevoi was certainly no keeper.

It's not the HP thats the problem it's the fact it's piss easy to hit.

Kiev is the best non-premium tier 7 DD I'd say. Just after unlocking the Taskent, but I am not keeping the Kiev since I have the Blyskawica.

I loved the Kiev and I am thinking about buying it back. I just got the Tashkent which is awful (but thats because it's still stock).

It is only easy to hit if you dont upgrade your rudder-shift time. After that its quite nimble. A downside are the awful HE rounds and that bad concealment. That you lose your turrets that fast is something they need to fix asap.

Still, it is one of the most fun DDs I was playing up to now.

Can't give you advice on this one... Being a pathologic collector I haven't sold any of my ships and got them all.... 74 and counting.... It's even worse: I like to just be in port and look at them all. How pathetic is that? Before you call the white dressed guys and the van, to my defense: I just love the wonderful detail, programming and beauty of the ships WG has made!

Kiev took a heavy beating from the nerf bat. Now, a shadow of its former glory.

I say go for Tashkent. Upgraded its quite good ship.

 

12k health vs 19 k (survive much better)

4km torps vs 8km (these come quite handy)

Same guns.

Worse rudder shift on Tashkent and a bit worse concealment. But you should know how to work around that by now.

 

I say lose the Kiev, climb higher and keep Gnevny.

hwhile im not a fan of the kiev(nowdays) ifeel like its better on its tier than the tash if you like it keep it and sell the tash after youre through.

Don't feel bad man... I have 88 ships atm. I have no clue  what the word "selling" means...

 

I'm at the Ognevoi at the moment. And it has just sapped all the life out of me... how is this ship considered balanced in any way? It would be bad even at tier 4...

It the fact it only has 2 turrets. One getting destroyed has a much bigger impact on the Ognevoi.

If being able to work with slow gun traverse Gnevny would be definite keeper because of it meeting so many lovely cruisers citadellable from nice range when in perfect angle:

Kuma up to 10km, Furutaka and Aoba 8km.

Phoenix/Omaha 9km

Königsberg and Nürnberg in same ballpark.

 

If you can surprise tunnelvisioning Kuma from below 5km APs will go through from quite big angle.

Kiev is really the first DD I definitely don't want engage alone in Gremyashchy.

That should tell what Kiev can still do despite of being nerfbatted twice.

50 euros for tier 5 i dont think so... gnevy is so lacking vs gremyaschy.. gnevy has nothing but 800 hp more and grem has usable torps !

Im going the same route as you are. Because I have this strange tickling in the back of the mind that goes "remember that crapship you sold a while ago, you had some great battles in it didn't you? Wouldn't it be fun to play again?" So I ended up selling and rebuying ships. Now I just dont sell them anymore >_<

Think I will be keeping my Kiev. Its a nice cash earner and apart from that I just plain simple enjoy it. Just sunk 3 CA/CL's in quick game before work this morning. Still lost but made plenty of cash. Will be even better when I can improve the concealment.

 

 

 

I may just freeze on the Russian DD's at this level and wait for the CA/CL line to work up another captain as I only have 1 at the moment.

However get past that and it's ok. The Udaloi is good, and a lot of fun and the Khabarovsk is more of the same just easier to get spotted and hit. You can dish out the damage in it and it's fast with decent torps and reasonable AA for an emergency.

Keeping just enough free xp to get hull upgrade stock is pain in all ships true
