What I wonder is what you need to do to only get 2,1 k exp with 6 kills? I've never had more than 5 kills, but considerably more exp, my record is 5 k. Do you need to just get the kills, minimal damage done, get nowhere near caps and sit idle for ten minutes or all at once?

Actually, using guns to that extent in a IJN DD is showing that he's doing it wrong.

There are certain situations, where you need to use guns when sailing a IJN DD, but not to that extent.

 

There are more and more games where i see IJN DDs get into gunfights with Cruisers and US DDs who basically only use Torps.

Did someone screw with the ship descriptions or something? ^^

Afaik the kill only gives you and equal of 15% of the ship's total HP - then you need to factor in your Tier, enemy Tier and shipclass (each has a different multiplier). Oh and the XP gain isn't linear! So yeah, it depends on many factors and that's why kill stealing isn't really an issue imho - at least for me, don't care too much as long as the enemy is dead and can't shoot me anymore.

Low HP kill stealing securing, or when my teammates and i are trying to bring down one target and of course to scare off other IJN DDs with a couple of salvos untill i get out of his range.

The IJN DD guns certainly pack a punch but lack the RoF, and it's hilarious when IJN drivers get into gunfights with Mogamis or Clevelands or US DDs.

With 73 regular hits, 1 citadel, and 6 enemies sunk I cannot say he was doing it wrong. Just unconventionally.
