I know there are now kill stealing in a team game so this is not a rant!

I don't care if someone kills the target I'm shooting at since its one less enemy but just for a note how the game works for like missions Sisters of Fog and Captain Extraction.

I just got done the first part for Sisters of Fog that needs to do 1000000 HP of damage to enemy ships, since I'm not a good player it took me around 30 games or so to get it completed but in a meantime I only got 12 kills for the Captain Extration mission and I was using tier 7 and above ships of all types.

Kill most damage dealt to a ship would be better then pure kills for mission like Captain Extration so people would stop crying about kill stealing.

...until the first whine threads when someone dies to a low health DD because the BB switched to shooting a full health target that was less of a threat.  Tell me it wouldn't <be perceived to> happen?

This is why I think it should be "destroy or assist in the destruction of", as then kill stealing wouldn't be an issue as everyone who contributed would count.

People always whine no matter whats the system, its just that I think thats most damage dealt system would be fairer then pure kills.

It kind of is happening already, just instead of battleships they blame cruisers, which captains prefer to shoot at bigger and slower targets, instead of wiping out those little, nibmle fleas first... Digressing a bit, there is also this 'single ship chase' syndrome that - not that seldom - infects multiple ship crews at the same time, rendering coresponding vessels efectively useless...

I honestly think it doesn't matter how missions are built. Frags are acumulated anyway during a match. Sooner or later you accomodate required numbers.

For me it is more important to win (and get more xp and money) then score multiple kills.

But agree it would be nice to see more variety in mission department. (Or maybe not if it leads to 'sink 5 Omahas and 10 Kongos' kind of projects)

Well said. Basically any goal WG sets can be interpreted as negatively affecting the gameplay.

What's the odds that with the ARP missions that some dribbling loon will soon start a thread about damage stealing. :coin:

Damage stealing is by far the worst problem no one is daring to mention or discuss much.

With the exception of the occasional kill stealing, each match I see tons of damage stealing. Its like an epidemic of epic proportions... :look:

What about plane stealing? I see plenty of those as well. Can you imagine how annoying it is when there are say 2 squadrons of TBs and 2 squadrons of DBs which your humble captain joyfully starts shredding with the AA perk when, out of the blue, the friendly fighter squadrons rush to steal some of your well deserved plane kills? :(

I do not even want to get started about cap reset stealing. Have you seen how much of those we have almost every game? Just when I start slowly turning my guns at an enemy capping, already imagining all that XP&credits gain from resets, some cap stealer ruins my day.

Thinking of it, everybody is stealing from everybody in WoWs - that makes me feel: Pirates, pirates everywhere!! :D

Some of the worst offenders even fly the famous pirate flag  -  the black skull-and-crossbones flag! :)

If somebody were to die from a low health DD, wouldn't the most likely candidate be the BB in question? I mean, if he's the only one in firing range...

If someone just takes off the majority of a ship's health, they risk that the ship survives until the end of the match - which wouldn't amount to a kill. Neither solutions are perfect, but I still think "most-damage-done-on-sunken-ship=kill" is the best alternative.

I always complain to my division mates about them stealing all my damage, it's highly annoying to say the least

BBs do actually target (low health) DDs in your parallel universe? I envy you ...

Killing a low health DD is always a priority. They might disappear at any moment. Kill it now!

I perhaps didn't detail my imaginary scenario well enough - I imagined it ending up being a 2v2 situation but my main point was that people will complain regardless of the mission type.  There could easily be situations where team-mate A is not directly threatened by low health enemy X although you are and as such they shoot at full health enemy Y instead.

The problem is that as soon as you have missions where 2 people are striving for the same goal you will end up with people complaining of stealing and not team playing... except for winning - that is just affected by bots, AFKers idiots and RNG :P

Kill stealing is probably not the right phrase because in general the goal is to win the game; the quicker you kill the enemy the better.

Mission Steal is probably a better description; that scenario where your own team mates put your survival in question because they hold off engaging with the enemy to try to capture the kill for a mission they're on. :(

Oh come on. Yes I found it a bit more difficult to claim the kills last evening but still got 16 with quite an average play in most games.

Had a chuckle; says 'Oh come on', then admits to having more difficulty in the following sentence.

Of course the difficulty could have been with something completely detached from the 'kill steal' topic, but the 'Oh come on - ok it was more difficult' statement is funny. :honoring:

First of all: it's called "kill securing", not stealing. :p

And secondly, I rarely give a damn. You leech some, you lose some to others. And if I am in a bb and I hit something with like 1k remaining, I am glad if I can turn my attention to another target and hit it for a potential 20k+ instead of wasting it for the killing blow. On the contrary, I am kinda getting p'ed if the ship is still up after one minute despite multiple ships being in range. And as a dd, heck, be happy about any backup you get from 2nd row cruisers.

As I said I played average on that day so it might have been a reason of that. Had no problem kill securing yesterday :P

Just play the game. The missions are done by simply playing the game.

^This.

I've never had any issues with so-called kill stealers. The thought that someone might have "stolen" one of my kills have never occured to me during battle. I just keep on going and try to maximize my damage output like I always do. :izmena:

I don't check people's stats but is 12 kills in about 30 games normal for you?

Or or do you think people are making that stat worse by taking "your" kills?

havent seen much raging about kill stealing recently. even being down at T2/T3 for Project R there wasnt any.

outwith missions where it becomes a bit of a feeding frenzy, it seems to be more of a thing for certain personality types.

12 kills in about 30 games is not normal for me, around 35 would be "normal" but during active kill missions people focus more on killing then teamplay, I don't care about my Kill / Death Ratio as this is teamplay but I do have others thigs to do the play wows all day so I would like to finnish the missions in good time.
