Well, wouldn't it be logical to have the DD hunter excel at spotting other dds? That will also make IJN captains think more: do I go closer for perfect drop, or will I drop from further away.

And trusth me, those guns are good as they are, they wreck RU and US dd guns on every volley...

 

A for limited torpedos, it's not meant as an insult, it will make captains think twice before dropping them ( do I drop now at 90% chance of hitting, or manoeuver a bit more for 95 % chance of hitting, cause I'm limited ).

Also CV's have a limit on their weapons, so why not on DDs?

Are we talking about the title 'World of DDs' or the top tiers again? I can assure you that the IJN guns are not as effective in dealing damage at the rate of other nations in the game in general.

This does not mean they can't do damage and this should not be tied in with a problem with damage to say the RU guns (that is their problem, not the IJN lines).

If we are talking about the Shim then again let's not exaggerate! Wreck guns with every volley, it was not that many posts ago that no one could see the bloody things now they're wrecking guns with every volley lol.

 

Ok, so we create the ultimate DD hunter. It has better stealth, better survivability, better guns. Does it make cake and let you eat it as well? Lol. You've just managed to kill off most of the DD lines leaving this little monster as the only DD worth having. In fact you've just created the new Shima. I mean aren't you complaining that a stealth torpedo ship is too good at stealth torpedoeing???

 

Weapon limits: I agreed with you Every ship has an ammunition limit.  As you state, DDs can only fire 3 volleys, CVs can only launch 3 times and CAs BBs can only fire 3 times (or whatever = the comparitive damage level) :honoring:

 

MudMonkey: The Shim is a torp DD. It can fire its torp loadout 8 times in a match. If anything I wish the fire rates were greater! Who wants to play a game with a fire and forget weapon that you have to wait 1/5 of the game time to fire (if we make reload longer)? Make the fire rates sub 2 mins, and half the damage or sub 2 mins and keep the damage but half the number (2×4); that could be worth considering?

The IJN DD captains that do engage my Khabarovsk ( which is at close range ofc, I spot them ) WILL kill guns / engine ( ok got last stand, so is annoying but ok ) with every volley. No need to argue with me on that cause that's what happens ( in both my Udaloi and Khabarovsk ). These good captains ( cause they are very good ) will fire one or two volleys and run. Dealing about 3000 in damage and knocking out ( permanently ) at least one gun. I really have to struggle in Khabarovsk to get the same result.

 

So that DD hunter can be the US DD, that finally lives up to is role. It's guns are still crap at long range, and it'll have to torp from within radar range anyways. And 200m isn't that much.Just to make live a bit harder for shima captains. In no way will this be the new shima cause it doesn't have those 15 torps. Hell, even nerf the US DD torps then if you're afraid.

 

Lol, the comment on weapon limits is very mature. I made a proposal, rather than giving constructive critics you will mock it...

Wow! I am aware that the IJN artillery has a higher percentage to cause fires but every time they hit they destroy something is ridiculous; even I have a hard time defending that one!!! In fact I can't understand why more people are not complaining; forget the torp complaints if the guns can do that kind of damage!!! :amazed: I wish the lower tiers were that effective lol.

 

 

I was being perfectly straight with the weapon limits. Why do you think I was not? If this is a game where every ship should have an equal chance of killing another and you are limiting one ships weapon/damage ability why would you not do that across the board? Seriously. You seemed to be falling into the class = ability to kill trap. The classes still retain the speed/size/HP differences etc, now they will all have to decide what target to choose! I also gave other possible solutions in the same post to MudMonkey that could be considered, but if you think I was mocking you then I think it is you that should ask why you are restricting a ship ability to do damage in a match when we have already agreed it is doing no more damage than any other DD. If I am mocking you then I'm not sure what you are doing.

 

Granted I am taking into account some CA players stating they can be wacked hard by one salvo from a BB and therefore compared that to a torpedo strike and limiting the number of torpedoes. But we can look at fire rates and damage ability and work it all out; the advantage will still be with the bigger ships because of their HP but it will be completely fair, everyone able to kill a certain number of ships they just need to decide which ones. Or are you saying only the bigger ships get to kill everything on the map?

 

Why do you think it is alright to limit one ship but not another in an equal way?

you would know, how good shima guns are if you tried to test it yourself. and of course if you played top tier battles, you would also see IJP dds shooting at low hp cas, or sitting in the smoke and burning its target, just like ru and us dds. 

btw a good he salvo on an other dd with shima deals 3k+ damage and definitely 1-2 incap.

edit: and if the shima captain can aim well, he can get incap with every salvo. so he (hunter) is not lying.

Shimkaze guns are so good they destroy something with every salvo and deal 3k+ damage every time. It actually starts to sound like the DD hunter you are both crying out for. One of you should start a thread regarding the Shima's over powered guns; they sound ridiculous. (I am being serious).

 

Edit: My question is now why is every other DD so inferior?

its general IPN-USN gun diffrence. zao-des moines / shimakaze-gearing. usn guns= rapid firing guns. IJP guns= low rate of fire, better damage. and it also get incaped by other dds. i lost my all 3 turrents in many battles. and the turrents are turning really slow. so its not the dd hunter that 159hunter seeks. the dd hunter he seeks is the gearing with better turrent armor.

Sorry, are you saying the Shimkaze causes damage with every volley and is considerably better than other DD ships guns or not? It now sounds as if you are saying it doesn't pack a better punch than other DDs?

 

 

If it has a better chance of causing damage or fire how much is that chance and how does that equate to the firepower of other DDs?

 

 

And sorry to bombard you with questions but why does the ease of damage taken by certain DDs become the fault of the Shimkaze (unless that is a direct reference to it causing damage with every volley)?

It has a much better alpha strike, but not enough dpm to be a DD hunter. It also has much better arcs then USN DD's so it can hit them at longer range more reliable. 

 

But, you are still not a gun boat, you use the guns to decapacitate enemies and disengaging before it becomes a dpm race ( you have the first salvo anyway because of best cammo ), finish off low hp enemies or put them on fire before going back into concealment. 

 

edit: btw imo the mechanics for losing turrets is not well implemented so while that has a role in this comparison, it's sooner a mechanic I would like altered on it's own than to bring it into a balance discussion.

Many thanks mtm78, it sounds more like the ease of damage occurring is maybe as much to blame as the firepower of any ship. Something else that adds to the pain of repair costs I'm guessing. :honoring:

Although we do now have another element that sits alongside a possible change to repair costs - the ease that some ships can lose guns. Another thing that could be looked at, as although they are DDs, they are ships that could help fight the Shim as long as they come out of the corner.

 

 

Unsure of the numbers but what did you think of the sub 2 min launch of torps (for all DDs) but with a lesser payload; or if the torps are the issue as many have stated what about a sub 2 min with the same payload but less torps, say something like 2x 4 for the Shim. This would break up the torps and maybe with an improved balancing in MM (I know we can dream) and a return of CVs we have a better and more exciting game.

Like i said, im against to any nerfs or buffs for any class. For me the ony problem is amount of dds in a team. If there are only 3 shimas in enemy team as dds, and if we have also 3 shimas in our team, its not a problem. 

Changing payload is not a big thing imo. Giving shima 2x4 torpedos makes it worse than kagero and it makes no sense.

Mm doesnt suck only about dds. 2 days ago i was palyin my fuso alone, and i had tier 9 battle.

True, even though a buddy of mine uses his Shima from time to time as invisifiring gunboat on BB.

 

As for turret mechanics, if they plan to "buff" the RU and US gun soon great let's forget about it. If not, it's a vital part in this discussion.

Fair comment, I agree on the MM issue especially. I thought there was a patch that was supposed to  level out the DDs per team as well as trying to match the roles (torp/gunboats). :honoring:

So much for facts do not matter:

 

 

  • Why did the Shimakaze get 8km torps with higher speed; wasn't it OP enough?
    • Not according to statistics. Those decisions were data-driven based on the ship’s performance in thousands of battles. We also hope that this change will reduce the torp walls fired from 20Km out and force Shimakaze players to close the distance and get involved in the battle more actively.

as a mainly dd player, of course you have no problem with that while you are grinding for shimakaze.

 

Aye. Have to unlock the full IJN tree, without premium. Takes some time.

Mahahahaha! Guys if you thought it was World of DDs before then my advise is that you avert your eyes from the game, because currently I have a Kagerou with torp range of 6,4km and speed of 81knots... and it's murder.

 

No matter if it's a BB, CA, CL or another DD - nothing can dodge them in time. The only saving grace is that I don't have the 5th skill of concealment, yet.

But to use them you have to go very close. One radar, one scout plane or a CV and it should be very dangerous to use your torps.

The 8 and 20 km torpedos are junk, for the Shimakaze the 12km unaccelerated torpedos are the best.You can use them from close to long range.
