Probably to get enough players to start teching them, so that Lesla or WG can justify continued developement of Russian BBs over some othr nation that had more real projects/richer naval history. You can't exactly say that "we have to develop Soviet X next" if only 5% of the playerbase is actually playing the current ships. Would they be so skewed? Yeah... probably... It's more likely than not that they want to get as many people as possible playing the new lines, but they will also artificially inflate the popularity of these cruisers. They are the same ships, but playerbase is different. Yes, the player base is different, but not in the same way that the base of Imperator differs. 1) Arkansas Beta was given to Beta testers who are (or d----d well should be) more experienced players by now.2) Imperator was on general sale, so any idiot such as me could buy it. (I buy all Russian ships that I can - Aurora, Imperator, Murmansk, Kutuzov). So Imperator will have a lot more BB noobs like me than Arkansas Beta, and we will drive the figures DOWN. For example, here are my pathetic tier 4 BB stats ( I suck at BBs which is why I gave up on them) Av Damage Ship Win rate (%) 34,698 Imperator 60 25,557 Myogi 44 23,283 Wyoming 41 Pretty much the same shape (at least in terms of damage dealing) as the general stats which I quoted previously. All the BB players that I have spoken to about this say that Imperator is easily the strongest Battleship at tier 4, but of course you are entitled to your opinion. As for the VMF cruiser line, I take it. More ships to grind (oh dear, oh god, the grind!). Maybe they'll put the Murmansk on sale again. From what I can see there are actually only 13 RU serving cruisers listed on Wikipedia for WWII and from WWI (OK I know its Wiki but I did not have time for a big search and still don't think I will have missed much..). SIX of those are Kirov class with a further two Bogatyr class. The remainder are a German Hipper class and the Milwaukee (Murmansk). A further two of the other cruisers are in game already (Aurora, Diana sister ships). Say six types total two of which aren't Russian and are mostly low tier by the looks anyway. Now I know WG like to make up paper designs but seriously what are they going to use for a full cruiser line? I genuinely don't know if enough ships exist even paper designs. Maybe there are more? Is it easier to just make ships up than it is to actually base a design on actual hardware that may be out there from other Navies? Damn, I really started playing this game too late. What other OP premium ships have I missed? Yes Murmansk has always had better AP than Omaha. Omaha and Marblehead have the Special Common Mk 27 Mod. 5 shells and Murmansk has Mod. 8 shells. Interestingly the only difference I could find was that the Mod. 8 shells had slightly more explosive filler. Regardless though, Murmansk is given the late war configuration, while Omaha barely gets into the war. That's the reason. A reasonably bad reason, but it's there.
