I don't know if they decided on it independently, or if they borrowed from the Italian example in this as well, but these triple 180 mm turrets on the Kirov sure do look troublesome...

If these ships are all going to be high-velocity, long-range AP spammers with extremely good accuracy (and decent HE), I fear for the cruiser balance of the game. If the Kutuzov is anything to judge the line by, they will be similar to the KM cruisers in play-style, except better in most areas.

 

 

 

I don't wanna sound like a conspiracy theorist, but to me it kinda looks obvious now that they nerfed the cruiser-specific captain skills just to preserve this very scenario. Everyone who complains about the lack of their long-range HE spam will be able to just buy a Russian cruiser & continue playing Counterstrike go back to their preferred playstyle, whilst they will also have the added versatility of punching through anyone & anything with their AP.

 

& if that's not enough, it's kinda obvious that from about tier five up the Russian cruisers are, well, plus-one tier. Kirov is more than a match for Aoba, & is going to meet South Carolinas. The tier 9 is a tier 10 for any other nation & their tier 10 is some sort of monstrous 9" gunned demi-battlecruiser.

 

But y'know, game balance YAY!

 

 

They never shoot 6rpm. It was project aim of this gunz. In trails they had 4,5 rpm but in practice they rarely went over 3 rpm

 

You mean like the Gremy's trial & IRL top speed, then?

 

EDIT: sorry Vulgarny, didn't mean to come off as confrontational, there. Just pointing out that iirc the Gremy's in-game speed is the trial, I don't think a little thing like "reality" is going to have much bearing on the in-game stats of these beauties.

We had 6 motor torpedo boats and 4 other vessels including an Armed Yacht, Muirchú.

 

Muirchú was previously the Helga and used by the RN to shell the Irish rebels in the General Post Office during the 1916 Easter rising. Would be interesting to see added since it is the centenary of the rising this year. But with 2 76mm guns I can't see that happening.

 I feel it's a ridiculous choice for tier 5, a 1930s vintage semi-Treaty heavy cruiser with nine guns & a 36 knot top speed. Which, again, is going to be meeting South Carolinas.

 

PS: I hope I haven't come off as unappreciative, I really appreciate everyone's input & efforts digging this stuff out, I'm just astonished at the sheer potential OP-ness of them.

It is Щорс, not Шорс, it is named after a Red Army commander killed in 1919... So it is pronounced Schors, not Shors... It is like a "sh" from shooting immediately followed by a "ch" of chariot... When I started learning Russian years ago it took me some time to learn how to pronounce

Actually it is pronounced more like Shtors. Щ is a combo between sh and t sounds.

No moaning here, based on the high tier soviet dd's from T7 onwards & the premium cruisers t3 aurora ( as good as the st louis ) t5 murmansk ( probably the best t5 cruiser imho ) & the Mikail kutzov which got a massive buff in range in last patch there is a bias towards making soviet ships slightly better simply because WG are appealing to their largest market.I can see myself having lots of fun with this tech tree.
