Excellent. Looks like that did the trick. Thank you very much for all that testing!

I'll incorporate the changes to the XML file in the update that is due next week. Until then, you can use the XML file from test 29.

And just so that other mod creators can learn from this: The problem was that there were two colour schemes using the same name. This was no problem on my computer, as the second scheme just overruled the first, but on some computers it apparently causes the game to hang on loading. Of course you wouldn't define two XML elements with the same name on purpose, but if you're getting reports of the game not loading with your mod from some (but not all) users, you may want to check your XML files for duplicates that were created accidentally.

Update 0.7.10 comes with new camouflages for Helena, Seattle and Buffalo.

Helena gets a Type 5 Special camouflage, which is an adaptation of Measure 31-11D for a cruiser.

272140829_WoWS_UniqueCamouflageHelenaType5.thumb.jpg.fd4ca198e99b314b2a4ba9343ea5a734.jpg

Seattle gets a Type 2 camouflage with the optical illusion stairs design.
390935571_WoWS_UniqueCamouflageSeattleType2.thumb.jpg.393c345d3050fcc2662a72dc3022155b.jpg

Also included are a Type 1 for Seattle, a Type 5 Special for Seattle based on Measure 12 (mod) and a Type 1 for Buffalo.

Next on the list: Type 2/5 for Buffalo, Type 1/2/5 for Worcester, and I think then it is time to take care of the Royal Navy destroyers.

But there's more! Thanks to d0c_savage's diligent testing, I was able to hunt down a bug in the XML file that made the game fail to start on some computers. If you had trouble running the mod during the past few updates, give it another try. No guarantees, but maybe this bug is what caused the problems on your machine as well.

Found some time to test it. Works again for me. Thanks for the good effort ;)

I have the Cammo of Bismarck from the Hunt of Bismarck campaign, the one with yellow turrets.

Could you make a version of it combining it with the stripes of the "type 18" unique cammo of Bismarck? I like the stripes in the side of the hull of that ship.

Could you?

I don't do requests, sorry. I have the two camouflage mods that are my main focus, and as long as there are still so many camouflages to do, I want to concentrate on those. I already have less time for that than I would like, so I don't want to take on additional projects at the moment. I hope you understand.

However - you could give it a try yourself. Get the WoWS Unpacker https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/61322-toolofficial-wows_unpacker/ , unpack the textures that you want to combine, get a graphics tool that can edit DDS files (like GIMP), copy the stripes from the Type 18 over to the other texture, if necessary adjust the colours, and save as a mod. You could use this mod https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/81383-allskinmod-hunt-for-bismarck-campaign-camoskin-fix/ as a guideline, as it should deal with the same texture files that you want to change.

If you have specific questions on how to do mods, I'll gladly answer those, as I think that furthering the modding community is a worthwhile endeavour. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" and all that.

Too bad. In my entire modding carreer i was always helpfull. It would be a waste of time to download all this data for one cammo only.

All my life i offered mods to others when my old PC had the means to do so.

http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/163936-anthonius-iis-skins-091-patch-compatible-t29-skin-in-post-149index-of-finished-skins-in-1st-post/

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?730342-Adding-MARKA-Horses-in-your-mod-and-creating-new-versions-of-them

And fixed things and gave advices to everyone needed.

Too bad  i can't start moddinng again only for ONE cammo. Never mind. Maybe in an other time in an other place.

Thank you for your answer anyway.

I unpacked the textures but while i found the texture with the yellow turrets i can not find the one with the hull stripes to combine them.

In what name is this?

Never mind i remembered my skinning skills to makes the stripes.

But WoWs has more complicated structure. Can you tell me where to find guns and other ship parts .

I want to make yellow a bit faded. So far:

I used the same texture to create the stripes because i saw the WoWs black and white are too bright. So i used the cammo you pointed tom as example and made it. But I can not find certain other cammo files for the same ship or the rest of its parts.

The yellow turret camo is technically a skin, which is why its textures are in a different place than the normal camouflages. To find the textures for those, you need to unpack the file camouflages.xml, open it in a text editor and search for the ship name. You'll find this entry:

Quote

    <camouflage>
        <annotation>Bismark unique permOflage block</annotation>
        <name>camo_permanent_1</name>
        <targetShip>PGSB108_Bismarck</targetShip>
        <tiled>false</tiled>
        <UV>
            <Tile>1 1</Tile>
            <Gun>1 1</Gun>
        </UV>
        <Textures>
            <DeckHouse>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/Black_gun_camo_01.dds</DeckHouse>
            <Hull>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/GSB001_Bismarck_1941_hull_camo_01.dds</Hull>
            <Gun>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/Black_gun_camo_01.dds</Gun>
        </Textures>
        <colorSchemes>colorSchemeGERP16</colorSchemes>
    </camouflage>

It defines the permanent camouflage (which I think is the Type18 you're looking for - don't know for sure because i don't have Bismarck in port myself). The section "Textures" gives you the texture files used for the different ship parts and where to look for them with the unpacker.

The gun textures are in a different place, as they are part of a skin. If you use the unpacker and go to content/gameplay/germany, you'll find several folders called ship, gun, aircraft and so on. The gun folder has subfolders for AA, secondary and main guns. You'll need to go into the folder main and open the folder textures in it, and then look for the texture for the yellow turrets. I don't know the name, and sadly I also don't know a way of finding out the name. Easiest way of finding the file is just exporting everything and then opening all the files, I think. Since you will also want to edit the secondaries, you need to repeat the same thing with the folder secondary. If you want to edit even more parts, you have to dig through the other folders. Just be aware that many textures are shared among ships, for example the aircraft used by the yellow turret Bismarck is probably the same as the one used by the regular Bismarck, so if you mod that texture, you change it for both ships.

With Update 0.7.11, I have added Type 1/2/5 for Worcester and Type 2 for Buffalo. The Type 5 for Worcester is based on a camouflage pattern that was designed by the US Navy but never implemented, because it turned out too complicated to paint.

The Type 5 for Buffalo is almost ready, so that one will be in the next update for sure, together with the low-tier British destroyers.

Update 0.7.12 is here and we're starting the Royal Navy destroyer line at tiers IV and V with Type 1/5 for Wakeful and Acasta.

2076664066_WoWS_UniqueCamouflageWakefulType1.thumb.jpg.4927dc96bd5bd44a1c18240facce58ec.jpg

I want to use blue-grey and khaki for the lower tier camouflages and blue-grey and green for the high tiers. Working on Icarus and Jervis at the moment.

P.S. Have a Merry Christmas, or whatever else your reason for staying away from work for a few days is.

Some advice please.

I have Mushashi with its premium cammo.

I want to buy Yamato's premium cammo but i want the primary and secondary gun turrets to have the Mushashi green color.

I unpacked content/gameplay/japan/ gun and content/gameplay/hapan/battleship but i can't locate the premium textures of Mushashi nore Yamato to make the change.

There is nothing like xxx_nolan.dds for example in those folders like they are for other ships.

Any advice how locate them?

Those folders contain ship textures, so they only work if you want to mod ship models or model swap camouflages (such as the special Bismarck camouflages). Yamato's and Musashi's permanent camouflages are regular camouflages, which means their textures can be found in content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures.

However - if you look up Yamato's camouflage in the camouflages.xml, it looks like this:

Quote

    <camouflage>
        <annotation>Yamato unique permOflage block</annotation>
        <name>camo_permanent_1</name>
        <targetShip>PJSB018_Yamato_1944</targetShip>
        <tiled>false</tiled>
        <UV>
            <Tile>1 1</Tile>
            <Gun>0.35 0.35</Gun>
        </UV>
        <Textures>
            <DeckHouse>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/JSB018_Yamato_1944_Deckhouse_camo_01.dds</DeckHouse>
            <Hull>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/JSB018_Yamato_1944_Hull_camo_01.dds</Hull>
            <Gun>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/IJN_tile_camo_01.dds</Gun>
        </Textures>
        <colorSchemes>colorSchemeIJNP26</colorSchemes>
        <colorSchemes>colorSchemeIJNP37</colorSchemes>
    </camouflage>

As you can see, the guns use IJN_tile_camo_01.dds as texture. You could unpack this file and change it so that it consists only of the colour corresponding to the green that you want. But be warned that this texture is used by all Type 1 camouflages and for a whole lot of other permanent camouflages. So you would change all these as well, with potentially unwanted results. In order to only change Yamato's guns, you would have to edit the camouflages.xml so that the camo uses a different texture for the guns. If you take a look at Musashi's permanent camouflage, you can see that Wargaming did just that:

Quote

    <camouflage>
        <annotation>Musasi unique permOflage block</annotation>
        <name>camo_permanent_1</name>
        <targetShip>PJSB509_Musashi</targetShip>
        <tiled>false</tiled>
        <UV>
            <Tile>1 1</Tile>
            <Gun>1 1</Gun>
        </UV>
        <Textures>
            <DeckHouse>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/JSB014_Musashi_1942_DeckHouse_a_camo_01.dds</DeckHouse>
            <Hull>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/JSB014_Musashi_1942_Hull_a_camo_01.dds</Hull>
            <Gun>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/Black_gun_camo_01.dds</Gun>
        </Textures>
        <colorSchemes>colorSchemeIJNP34</colorSchemes>
        <colorSchemes>colorSchemeIJNP42</colorSchemes>
    </camouflage>

Black_gun_camo_01.dds is a texture file that is just solid black, which lets the guns have the colour specified for black in the colour scheme. If you are lucky and the Yamato colour scheme has the colour you want to use for the guns specified for black, you can just copy this line over to Yamato's camouflage. If it is specified for a different camouflage, you have to look for the fitting texture (e.g. R_gun_camo_01.dds is solid red, so use that if the colour you want is specified for red, G_gun_camo_01.dds is solid green and B_gun_camo_01.dds is solid blue - if I'm not mistaken, I don't have the files with me right now) and use that instead.

You were right. By coppy/paste the  <Gun>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/Black_gun_camo_01.dds</Gun>

from Mushashi entry the guns on Yamato premium camo became green just like Mushashi's.

When i renamed it G_gun_camo_01.dds the guns/towers became total white.

It has to do with the color on the main texture and the script that links thecamo patern with specific real colors.

Let's move up the tech tree with Type 1/5 for Icarus and Jervis, which have been added to the mod with Update 0.8.0. Both Type 5s are special camouflages with funnel bands, pennant numbers and little extras that you may find when taking a close look at your ships.

As an aside, I love how the lighting in the Operation Dynamo map makes screenshots look like oil paintings in a naval museum.

My friend does the existing unpacker works for the new patch of the game?

Please take a look to this bizzare bug and issue:

When i used the existing unpacker and unpacked camouflages.xml  and made AGAIN the nessesary changes. The new camouflages.xml  causes the entire cammos DISAPEARENCE. ALL OF THEM.

Is there a new unpacker or should i re-locate the camouflages.xml in to and other subfolder other than res_mods?

Interesting. I had that as well. When I used the Windows 7 Editor to edit the XML file, all camouflages were invisible (i.e. the XML file could not be parsed by the game). I then tried the same using wordpad, and then the modded XML file worked just fine. TextEdit on the Mac also seems to have no issues. If you have been using Windows Editor until now, try using a different application (I think WordPad is included in Windows for free).

It worked with WordPad. The untextured 2ndary guns is a glitch of the curent patch.

One nottice. If you copy paste the guns entry of Musashi gun textures

Quote

<Gun>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/Black_gun_camo_01.dds</Gun>

to Yamato you get this: 1st picture. Inorder to have Musashi's guns: 2nd Picture you have to change the guns entry to Yamato to this:

Quote

<Gun>content/gameplay/common/camouflage/textures/Green_gun_camo_01.dds</Gun>

It has to do witch color is scripted as "black" in every unique camo.

The mod has been updated to Version 0.8.0.1 for the hotfix.

Alternatively, you can move all your mods from res_mods/0.8.0.0 to res_mods/0.8.0.1 if you don't want to download again. The only change is the name of the folder.
