I double-checked the download and can't find any errors in the files. Can you try to redownload and install the mod again?

First of all: Thank you for taking care of this. This was the only mod I used for the last two years.

Unfortunatelly it does not work for me either. I did try it in 0.7.7 and now in 0.7.8. WoWs just crashes when you try to log in. The WoWs logo just spins and spins and spins.

As soon as I delete the mod again logins work. Even tried some of your camo reworks from the other thread, they work just fine.

It looks like there is some sort of bug, I just don't know where yet. So let's go hunting... I sent you a PM.

WG is his infinite wisdom changed all the dds files. There are now also ddo, dd1 and dd2 files. So no skins are working any longer. There is a workaround (ask Compass Rose) but u have to change manually every single file for every single ship!!

On the other hand, i just installed Crooks full Nation pack, and this is for some reason working. I have to find out what he did...

Hi,

the old versions will not work with the current game version. Could you please test the following: Remove all mods, then install this mod:

Then test if you can start the game or if you get the same error.

The goal is to find out if the problem only occurs with this mod or if other mods using XML files are affected as well.

If you get the same error with the other mod, try repairing your installation (see here https://eu.wargaming.net/support/en/products/wot/article/10618/ if your're using the old launcher or here https://eu.wargaming.net/support/en/products/wgc/article/10300/#section_4 if you're using the new game center) and then test the mod again.

As most of the mod is only camouflages, not skins, I'm cautiously optimistic. I do however have to adapt the camouflages.xml file to the new format that Wargaming has introduced with 0.7.9 (which, all things considered, is better than the old format, as it is less cluttered and smaller). Nothing that a little find-replace and command line magic can't fix, but I need some time for that. Also, I'd like to test it a bit before releasing. I expect the update to be ready on Saturday.

Okay, some other things to try so we can maybe find the cause of this:

-Install only the camouflages.xml of the Unique Camouflages mod, but not the folder content. Do you still get the error?

-Open the mod's camouflages.xml using Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Does the browser display an error warning, or just the content of the file?

-Try changing the DirectX settings of the game, i.e. if you're using DirectX9, switch to DirectX11 and if you're using DirectX11, switch to DirectX9 (Settings » Graphics »Graphics API). Do you still get the error?

Also, make sure to use the new update of the mod for this. I'm going to post it in a few minutes.

Update 0.7.9 brings new camouflages for US cruiser Dallas (Type 1, Type 2 and Type 5) and US cruiser Helena (Type 1 and Type 2).

Next will be Type 5 for Helena and then Buffalo, Seattle and Worcester.

I have prepared several test versions of the XML file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ct3stzorptfo9nl/camouflages test 20180923.zip?dl=1 Could you please...
-install the regular mod
-download the test versions
-replace the camouflages.xml in res_mods/0.7.9 with the file from folder "Test 1"
-test it
-replace the camouflages.xml in res_mods/0.7.9 with the file from folder "Test 2"
-test it
-and so on...

Afterwards, please let me know what happened with each of these test files. Thanks in advance.

These files have a lot less camouflages, so they won't be the solutions for the problem, but I hope they will help us find out where that error is coming from.

Hm, interesting... the test files 2 to 5 all had most of the camouflages removed. I'd like to find out if the error can be traced down to specific entries in the XML file or if it is just the size of the file that causes the error. Could you please download these XML files and test them like the first round?

Alright... I hope there is a bad entry in the file and we just have to narrow it down to find it. In that case, at least one of Test 10 to 13 should not work, and Test 14 should work. File size doesn't seem to have anything to do with the errors.

Let's test: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4l8a5j53ft67qj0/camouflages test 20180926.zip?dl=1

Well, that's not what I had hoped for... seems the problem is not as easy to solve as I expected. I'll need to think about this for a bit.

In other news, Update 0.7.9.1 for the mod is available (but the only change is the version number in the folder name, so you could just copy the content from your res_mods/0.7.9.0 to res_mods/0.7.9.1)

Right... so there is something fishy about Midway Type 1, and I suspect that it's the camouflage tiling, but I'm afraid that some more testing is required. Could you please test these as usual?

Thanks!

Well, I guess it's safe to say it's not the tiling that is causing the issues. Which is good to know.

The other peculiarity about Midway is that its color scheme was defined two times. Let's see if removing that double entry changes anything:

Please test as usual.
