How am i supposed to get 30 DD kills in a month.

I tried in my cleveland (first T6 I unlocked) and I just never encountered one.

now im grinding up the nicholas to get the farragut. but I hate US DDs so badly they suck so terribly. im told they're supposed to counter IJN ones as gunboats but how do i do that exactly? I never encounter any IJN ones because they're BETTER. and I can never spot them. the only ships I ever spot are cruisers/BBs the kick my [edited]or better USN DDs that... kick my [edited]

any advice on how to play these better would be much apreciated.

although it doesnt help that I keep getting fault line; the worst map in the game, even worse than ocean

Cleaveland, Omaha, Phoenix are all fine for the mission.

Königsberg and Nürnberg are better, but that does not help you if you are not playing the german line.

I think I got the kills after one week.

Think where that IJN DD would be and go to those positions or stay in front of own forces.

If you get detection warning and don't see anyone there's probably IJN DD ahead of you. Possibbly in opposite course becoming visible in second or two.

And as always with DD you should keep eye on how close known/spotted enemy cruisers are and avoid going near places where one could get close if you're alone.

With DD's stealth and maneveurability going to center in Fault Line can work well.

And if you see opportunity coming use islands as cover for launching torps.

In open Nicholas has stealth advantage against Farragut and especially Mahan giving you first shots unless you bore straight in toward enemy.

Bear with me now.

Because while at the face of it, when I tell you to "learn to play" it may come across as undiplomatic, nay, even perhaps offensively abrasive.

But it is the essential gist of what you need to do.

Basically, you are terrible at the game.

Beginning the mission now, additionally, will naturally make it that much harder when you should've started already in the start of january.

Belatedly, here's my real advice: Start watching youtube videos after taking some time to determine why your play is so terrible.

Because really, there's no shortcut.

You need to be in a tier 6+ ship, the omaha, phoenix and konigsberg are all useless for this mission

Ahem, little facepalm moment here, you need to be tier 6+, which Omaha, Phoenix and Koenigsberg are not.

I started trying to use the Cleveland,  except it's not massively great against destroyers. The rof is amazing, but the flight time at long range makes hitting one (that isn't just derping about) awkward. The huge detection on the Cleveland means you get spotted a long time in advance, so any sensible DD simply turns around and leaves.

If you can get the jump on one and actually ambush a DD you can hose them easily but that then is usually a frantic 3km attempt to avoid torps too.

I ended up using the blyskcantpronounceit since the shell arc doesn't involve a detour to the moon

you could've just said this

But then what would I have done with the rest of my words?

Barring any acquisition through osmosis, words function on a basis of "use it or lose it".

Basis for improving your skill should be watching how others do it until you're proficient enough to adapt and in turn improve on their style.

Basically, you need to learn how to swim before you can learn how to swim really well.

Begin with that, and success in the Myoko mission will come on its own.

But if you still insist on finishing it now, do note that the second part is 300 fires which doesn't sound like a lot but unless you're really awesome at setting fires it's going to take you at least 60-80 games.

Beginning to see the bigger picture?

Bugging you the most when you're done is going to be the 1 000 000 damage you must do for the last part which given your average damage comes to around 50 matches.

Sorry to say that, but if in 2 months you're not capable of killing 30 DDs and setting 300 fires... you don't deserve a free tier 7 cruiser.

Having seen you use your Cleveland, I would have to say that you need to calm down and not rush off on your own and then moan at the team for getting focussed down.  The game that you died needlessly trying to take point B, while we crushed them from both flanks. I got a precious DD kill that game too.

Try to hang back behind your DDs, and anticipate where the OPfor are going to push, 30 kills isn't too much even for someone like me who can't spam games all the time.

Looks like I mixed up the missions, finished them some time ago.

Then it is Cleveland and Nürnberg.

Cleveland is fine hunting DD, even if the fire arc makes shots at 9+ km against DD a bit difficult.

But if you play that ship exclusively than you should get the hang of it after a couple of games.

The "I never encountered one" bit bothers me... I think I've played one match on the last 300 or so where there wasn't a DD on the enemy side and the reason I noticed it was it was... So noteworthy.

Mashing up DDs in a nurnberg or Cleveland is hardly a chore.

And given the number of people who have killed 30dd doing precisely that if say:

More patience, more practice, and good positioning.

DDS are not going to line up in front of your guns so you'll have to hunt.

usually theres 1 or 2 DDs on the enemy team. but most of them are smart enough not to be spotted almost the entire game, and whenever they are. they're not spotted by me.

oh yeah... also that match. I want taking B because I thought we should take B, I was taking B because I thought there would be at least one destroyer there.

wow i really suck

the problem isn't kills, it's fires

300 fires is too much

thing is though, with the cleveland I can reliably set fires every single game. with the DD hunting I can't

I hate to break it to you but the mission is designed to be more difficult if you don't already have a few tier 6+ ships. Since the reward is a free tier 7 ship.

But you could be in a much worse position seeing as you do have the Cleveland which is good at both the 1st and 2nd stage of the mission.

This. To understand IJN DD you have to play IJN DD. And by play I mean play and not suicide through the middle of two brothers.

I play a lot of IJN DDs I only suicide down the centre of two brothers when I'm desperate to get at least one kill on the hopefully one other DD whos done the same

I don't know. I love DD hunting in my IJN DDs (T 7+). Many players underestimate the guns, which change significantly after Mutsuki.

I prefer playing the Aoba to the Cleveland. The parachute shells on the Cleveland get on my nerves. The Aoba's pretty good for taking out DD's.

The final part of the mission, getting a million HP in damage, goes really quickly.
