Do you hoard money and free XP or use them?

I dont watch WoWs-vids on youtube a lot but when i do and see peoples ports they often have fairly little cash and free xp. Which for me feels odd as i have about 26 million coins and just reached 100 000 free xp. Not sure why i do it but it feels better to grind the ships and have the XP for that somewhere in the future scenario

 

So, i just wanted to see if im the odd one for "hoarding" or not.

Saving free exp is good, you can use it to unlock some modules on the new ships so you dont play them stock. Saving credits is just too hard if you advance up the tiers.

Probably depends. Most people save up their free XP to skip or at least accelerate the grind on ships they don't like (I for example skipped the Langley after a couple matches so I could get a Bogue and do the aircraft kills missions).

As for credits, maybe they either just bought a new ship (the higher tier ones can get very expensive), or purchase more upgrades for individual ships (coming in at 250k or more that can amount to quite a bill if you do it for lots of ships).

it's wise to keep the free exp for a ship you play and don't like (a lot of stock-ships, or terrible over all).

If you already have the ships you want to have, there is little reason to buy new ones. In the end it's you who wants to have fun.

After the Phoenix I learned how valuable it can be to have free XP to upgrade the stock ship. Accordingly I never move to a new ship unless I can upgrade it immediately. I generate XP on the old elited ships (or other Premium ships) and use gold to convert the XP to free XP.

 

Since I got Kiev there are no more ships that I want at the moment. Therefore I have been building up XP and credit reserves. I went over one million XP in elited ships this week.

26 millions isn`t much really, I had 39 millions once but then WG gave us 15% discount on tiers 8 - 10 and I spent everything on 3 new ships with modules and upgrades. Now I have 3.5 million and slowly rising but I know I`ll spend it soon because I`m almost done with some grinds. 

I don`t keep the cash or free exp, I use it. Spice must flow.

I am building up my free XP due to not wanting to spend RL money to convert it. It's a rather pointless item for me.

I am building my free XP for module upgrades at tiers 8+.

I would love to build some cash too, but buying new ships eats into those, I haven't been waiting fro discounts so far as they seem few and I'd like to have at least one high tier ship before I slow down and buy ships only at discounts. Also some ships I need for missions, so I can't afford to wait for them to be discounted.

I had 45kk then I started cruisers line and bought Furutaka, Aoba, Myoko and equipment and now I'm down to 5kk and Mogami will be ready in 20k xp or less:/ The lack of credits is because I like to collect ships and don't sell them after researching next ship

I'm notoriously short on cash, because I research pretty much all lines except CVs and am on tier 8-9 with all but RU DDs at this point. Used to have over 200k in free XP at some point, but I use it to unlock modules on new ships before taking them into battle, and at that tier it costs a lot

I hoard free xp (got about 160k now... Never converted it with gold) and I spend credits.

I use free xp to research the most important modules on stock ships and I used it to almost fully skip the pre-buff Yorck (it was horrible).

i'm approx the same 20mil coins and 1.2milion xp to convert, 80k free xp to use. at this moment i am not interested to develop any more ships this because i am superskilling my actual cruiser captains that already have 2 liv 4 skills  etc. i find much more an advantage to skill a captain on cruisers liv 5 that play higher tiers.... but this is my gameplay style. bye

Hoarding like crazy at the moment in the event of RN CAs. Have about the same amount as you there OP, and uses the New Mex as hoarder.

Well the people on YouTube tend to play a lot of games to perfect matches to post on YouTube.

 

But yes as stated in previous comments people will grind for future lines they want including me.

 

I spent a lot of credits during Christmas during the sales and have only 330k xp on ships 128k free xp and 900k credits :-/

I always want to spend my free xp on the really bad stuff.. But then i go like.. meh this thing is still bearable. why waste em now..

I use my free EXP strategically to buy modules and get problem ships up to competitive spec as quickly as possible but if I don't need to use it I save it... something else will need it.  A lot of people who complain about most ships are complaining about them stock.  Admittedly some will always be pretty rubbish, but you can make things easier on yourself by planning ahead - unfortunately some people don't do this.  I have never NEVER use free EXP to unlock another ship... although the Bogue has got me thinking about it and the Kahlsruhe is reputed to be a contender:p

 

For examples, I saved around 80k free EXP for the Izumo... which hasn't been as bad as I expected... but perhaps that is because I didn't have to suffer it stock.  I could have saved more but I used some to get to the B hull on Iowa, and a bit more on the upgraded planes for the Hiryu.  I weighed up what I might need against what I had and spent accordingly.  That cleared me out of free EXP but I'm back up to about 30k.  My 3 most recent purchases were the Bogue (free EXP fighters and TBs) and the Hatsuhari and Myoko (which I used 0 free EXP on).

 

As for money... I don't horde it.  Buying the Iowa whilst keeping the NC absolutely wiped me out.  I then had to save hard (read: play my premiums more) to afford the Izumo.  But, now I am back to 30 mil even after the 3 purchases mentioned above and it is steadily rising... I can't see me needing much more until I reach the Yamato/Montana.  The fact is, I can fix any money issues relatively quickly due to my premiums so it is not something I worry about too much.

I'm waiting for my division buddies to catch up with me at T VII, besides I almost never play at T VIII, so I currently have 23 millions credits and 33 k free xp. I hoard them for the future new lines, I could improve my current T VIIIs but then I won't play them.

No point in having credits and free XP if you don't spend them. 

 

I'm chronically poor despite playing premium ships since I am grinding several ship lines.

Free XP is used to unlock modules on ships that are very bad without them like the IJN battleships. Currently sitting on 50K free XP which will be used for the Izumo hulls once I got it.

I would like to use it for the Tashkent, which also sucks without upgrades, but I wouldn't have any free XP left over for the Izumo afterwards.

I always aim to maintain a balance over 15mil credits cause you never know when the next discount might come up. 

 

As for free XP my policy is this:

 

Never user Free XP to skip or unlock any ship (above tier 4) sooner. Never play new ships stock (use free xp to get the most important upgrades). I will always continue to play the previous ship in the tech tree until i have gathered (not converted) the free xp required for the important upgrades of the unlocked ship.

 

That way i (the player) am more experienced when i get the higher tier ship, my captain has more skill points and i don't have to suffer a stock grind.

I had around 22+Million Creds and 800.000 Free XP which i used to buy 3 New ships and upgrade them fully, which in case of Tier VIII + IX ships can liberate you of all coin and xp.

I used to convert XP on Elited ships and Premiums immediately, but after the above mentioned shopping spree i've accumulated ~1.7 Million XP which equals a crap ton of money and i'm not too keen on spending it atm.

 

Atm i'm trying to get enough coin to buy myself the reasercherd Izumo and the Fletcher, with the Ibuki next in line to be researched.

 

I'd be happy to have an discount on converting XP, it'd help immensely and save some coin in the process.

Spending dubloons on converting EXP to free EXP should be the definition of being a whale in this game.  It is hugely expensive.

Since I'm no longer in premium and I'm sitting in T8 territory, credits are short. So I'm extremely tight with spending those.

Free XP I will spend, but only cheap things and planned things. Right now I'm saving up for the Izumo's C hull (no stock hull for me thanks). Well technically speaking I have plenty for it, so now I'm also adding the FCS module. But once I have the Free XP for that, I will begin to spend again.

I budget for what I consider milestones. Last time, that was the Myoko. But, I'm not afraid to splurge. I wanted the ARP Kongo fast, so I pretty much bought myself a Bogue with resources I'd saved up. I also use credits on premium smoke or repair consumables on certain ships. I'm hardly ever "rich".
