A fairer way to do it would have been to make it so that 260 pearls would be the maximum you could collect, thus leaving more for the guys who are going to fall slightly short of that number.

Shouldn't the event work the way that once the 10 mln pearls get amassed, it's not over? The official deadline is 24th of February. If my logic is correct, everyone should have ~13 days to get their ship, independently from the pearls' counter. Those 10 mln? They're just for the lottery purposes. If one doesn't believe in the luck of a draw, then they should have time till 24th to get their fair share. Let's see: weekly missions get reset on Mondays, 24th is on Wednesday...That gives at least 2 sets of weekly missions to complete. In short, extra 114 pearls.

I have done every class every Tier and miss some days from first week, thats all.

 

you must have missed quite a lot from the first week as by my reckoning we've had 4 sets of weeklies (57 each) and one set of general missions (65) so there have been a total of 293 possible pearls to date, from what I have observed so far, weekly missions reset v.late on a Sunday night/Monday morning (about 0030 GMT)

 

also, I believe the event ends as soon as 10m pearls have been reached, that will most likely be on 14th Feb or at the latest in the small hours of the 15th (v.soon after the reset)

Great Event Wargaming, especialy the decision of giving a DD to everyone with 260 pearls AND the addition of "Group Rewards" upon achieving certain stages of the Mission.

Yes great event, i finished on 288 pearls, only 5 missing from the BB mission i couldn't bring myself to do! I feel sorry for those that missed some of the event, but it is not a gift to everyone, you have to play a certain amount and meet the conditions of the event in terms of the timing of the weekly's. However i do agree that perhaps WG could have capped the total achievable at 260 as there is no point in the extra 28 i got that was just for playing. There was no way for me to not win them as they were from the weekly.

 

It's amusing that the community exploded at the start when "10 million will never be reached by Feb 24" but here we are probably 10 days early on achieving that. i guess that WG had a difficult time thinking how many we would earn per week etc and how popular this event would be. But to reiterate what others have said, if you don't get the Kamikaze then there will be other events in the future like this, i think WG will recognise a winning formula on events from this and with a couple of improvements in communication and targets it could be a huge win for them in numbers of people playing.

Not really, the event page says, that we have time till the 24th in order to reach 10m pearls. So the community "wins" the event as soon as 10m are reached. This is rather ambiguous, but might indicate, that the event ends, when the community reaches the goal.

This is not cheating.

wondered if that was just a bad choice of words. wouldnt be the first time a press release was "iffy" ... I always thought it might be translation issues with instructions from head office.

Currently the only way to acquire a Kamikaze R requires either determination (collecting 260+ pearls) or luck (random draw to win if you get 150 to 259 pearls).

I am with you, dude. Two days ago, when i was at roughly 230-240 pearls, i was wondering how long the event would last, since i was expecting the 24th of Feb deadline to be the date to count on. However, with a polite requets in this forum, i was informed, that the event would be closed just as Brynd had stated. Not sure if i were able to get the remaining pearls on a later date, i decided to push for the remaining pearls that night. 20k XP, 9 kills with tier 5 ships and 7 victories with BBs were requred to reach the number of 263 pearls.

At last, i did it, but it was the worst gaming experience i ever had with this game. A victory to defeat ratio with a peak of 1 victory for 5 defeats, despite all efforts, with a bunch of games which ended something like 12 to 0-3 losses...wow... i never experienced so much incompetence in a MMO...

Just glad i hit the 260 pearls...

 

Next time, WG, please be more specific about the relevant information of an event... The event as such was great, by the way! More of that!

We did try and ensure the conditions were known and did so early on. The stated deadline you refer to was simply to show the event would end on February 24 even if 10 million pearls hadn't been collected. In regards to the restoration ending when we'd collected 10 million pearls, we said in our article:

 

"Once the community has reached 10 million Pearls, the Admiralty will be able to restore Kamikaze and build 2,000 specimen that will be randomly distributed among participants of the event with at least 150 Pearls collected on their accounts."

 

A few days after the project launched we also clarified via a forum post:

 

"With the current planning, the event will end as soon as we hit 10 million pearls. If you do not have 260 pearls at that point, you will only be eligible for the lottery. (Provided you have at least 150 pearls)."

 

Despite this, I am sorry for your situation.

That would be incredibly low if there was only the lottery. Guess that was the original plan.

Well, looking at the NA community, they had their goal of 4 Million pearls extended to 6 Million so more people could reach the threshold of 150+ or 260+ pearls...

For the NA, it was necessary, since at the rate they were collecting pearls, they would have reached 4M before the 4th weekly reset (thus making it impossible for anyone to earn 260 pearls).
