They can t make a full tree for any other Asian country except Japan, so it s probably some mix up from China, Taiwan, Australia, etc.

Not a Benson, apparently, but Allen M. Sumner class (if I've found the right ship on Wikipedia... former USS Taussig, sold to Taiwan as Lo Yang in 74 as DD-14 so that checks out). So, it's a T9.5 DD (came between Fletch and Gearing, with the turret setup of the latter). Also much improved AA compared to Fletch, simply because three turrets take up less space than one, and same Torpedo setup.

To be honest, it is just an easy cash-in reskin to grab some money from the Asia servers. Not much development resource has been wasted here Im afraid. And im totally fine with that.

The Sumner-class was the second Lo Yang. The name was re-used after the Benson-class was decommisioned(in the article isn't specified though).

While it's not that exiting since it's not a new ship the Benson is a very nice ship, in the right hands. People who pick it up and are unfamiliar with USN DD gameplay might not fare so well in them, IMO it's more unforgiving than the Blyskavica. Might be interested if it's unbundled and at the right price since I really do like the Benson but had to sell it to afford the Fletcher.

I'm actually slightly surprised that it actually will fly the Taiwanese flag... I know the two Chinas have gotten somewhat closer the last couple of decades, but as far as I know as soon as something political like the flag comes up PRC will balk and huff and puff. This ship can't possibly be sold in PRC, which makes it an odd decision. Unless there is a very large untapped marked in Taiwan (which is entirely possible) it seems like a semi-dead addition.

Yes, me too, and especially now when Taiwan are talking independence once again. I, for one think that this was a good decision of WG; while I often is critical to many policies they should have credit when credit is due.

May be a general problem with the phonetic translation of foreign names in Chinese, they have to find Chinese words that sound similar and compose that name so it has some meaning, because all Chinese names have a meaning.

 

For example Coca Cola is translated as "Ke Kou Ke Le" ("Thirsty Mouth"), Pepsi Cola "Bai Shi Ke Le" (100 tastes), Samsung "San Xing" (Three Stars"), etc.
