Well I think this is how wargaming will be motivated to do some Sirius buffs on that ship.I bought this ship couple of months ago and still I got maybe 5 good games so far. To be honest even if you MASTER this ship it's still terrible and waste of money. Anyway I hope some guys who thinking buy this piece of @@ will think about it serious. Otherwise I hope WG will do some dramatic changes for the good of their advertisement and their pockets.

I like it, you should play it as a huge american DD, very rapid gunfire but a glasscannon.

Enemy DD hate it because the will been sunk very fast if the are to close.

Against bigger ships drive in circle and fire with all guns.

Firing AP can be quite rewarding when you are in close contact with other light armored CAs. Very situational, but you should keep that in mind.

You have 10km visibility are slow and unmaneuverable like a heavy cruiser. You have no armor and the fragility of a DD, but unlike a real DD you also have a citadel which makes you melt like ice in sunshine even under low-caliber-fire. Youre a cruiser but cant do cruisery things. At the same time youre a DD but cant do a destroyers work. Its awkward.

 

It cannot be stressed enough that beginners shouldnt buy this. Actually no one should buy it but those who like to spend 30 euromonies just to fire fast or for the looks of the ship. Atlantas serverstats are terribad for a reason.

 

I support the all capps-title of the thread. DO NOT BUY ATLANTA unless you do know you want exactly this and no other ship. For whatever reasons. Dont buy it out of the blue or because the concept sounds fun. The fun wears of quick, and what remains is a 30€-port decoration.

I am afraid I have to agree.

Atlanta is NOT for beginners! Because this ship is so OP that it becomes the No1. target of the whole enemy fleet. No ship without armor can survive for long when every gun within range is trained at it. And this is what happens to Atlantas.

 

Atlanta requires very good tactics and to always make sure you do not become the main target of interest.

so much hate for Atlanta lately, makes me sad. I always do well in mine. sure shes not perfect and could used a couple minor buffs. Shes not for everyone and has a steep learning curve but she does not deserve all the hate.

i am always near the top of the score boards when i am in Atlanta. upwards of 30 aircraft shot down. Also is enjoyable to play. She does need some minor buffs tho, wont argue that.

on the topic of torpedoes, Atlantas torpedos have 4km more range then all the other US cruisers besides Omaha and Phoenix. She has unlimited Defensive fire. I have concealment down to 10km which is manageable.  top speed past 30 knots and rudder shift doen to 6 seconds so maneuverability is good. I cant argue with the shell arc as they do need buff along with a bit of range buff.

The difference between having the torpedos she has now and having none at all is tiny. In 140 games I have maybe 15-20 torpedo-hits. that makes ~1 per 8 games on a longer average. Usually youre dead before you get in range of something worth torping. You can save your health to go full suicide-torprush but thats just stupid.

 

 

Torps would just be just one of dozens of ways to buff this ship into semi-usefulness. Why not give it the 9,2km 55kn Torps of Mahan? Historical reasons?

What I am saying is the torps are not playable for tier7. For example: to use them you have to be hidden. Most of the times you have to unhide to use them. The result will be MOST of the times to get destroyed from the enemies. So the the torps are more like situational.

The only chance to do something good when you are having tier 9 enemies is to hunt down the enemy dd's. So even then you are situational, because you never know where they are. If you are lucky enough you might find a couple. But there are games with only one dd in the game. ITS LIKE THE MONTANA! The only positive think montana have is the AA but there are no CV''s

I have fun in my atlanta, and get normally top 4 on my team. cant blame me when during the majority of higher teir games im in most of the teams just sits in the back to scared to scratch the paint and inturn letting the other team win. Thats been the case in any t7+ ship i play.

No matter how you put this. As an offensive weapon or as a defensive one. Right now they are as much near-useless as the whole ship carrying them.

Still it is no coincidence that Atlanta has the worst stats of any T7 in the game.

 

Carrying your team is not exactly easy when you dont have the tools it takes to, for the vast majority of games.

I am sorry but I am completely disagree with you.

For me this game is about Win and have fun. If I win and have fun I am more willing to spend more money for this game. Thats why I am saying this ship is a bad advert for wargaming.

I have just checked your profile.

You have 84 battles whith the atlanta, that means you spend a LOT of time with the ship for me, and 44% are victories. You survived ONLY 14 BATTLES and you are defending this ship? Tell me really which of those where they great games?
